C16 Purpleclothed Girl
As Qin Yu was assessing the slightly chilly Beast Core in his hand, a rustling noise suddenly came from behind him. He stiffened, slowly turning to find three Giant Fang Wolves emerging from the underbrush, eyeing him with a menacing growl.
Qin Yu was momentarily taken aback before it dawned on him that Giant Fang Wolves were Vicious Beasts that lived in packs. They would never be found alone; they traveled in groups of at least two or three, sometimes even more. This meant he had to face at least three more of these beasts before he could make his escape.
With his face paling, Qin Yu realized the gravity of his situation. He had struggled to handle one Giant Fang Wolf; facing three was beyond his capabilities. Without a second thought, he turned on his heel and sprinted away.
The wolves, enraged by the death of their packmate, gave chase. They split up and darted through the forest, quickly outpacing Qin Yu. Before long, he found himself trapped, the three Giant Fang Wolves closing in with no chance for him to flee.
Facing the trio of predators, Qin Yu gritted his teeth, knowing he had no choice but to make a stand. He tried to summon his Genuine Qi, but for some reason, the energy that had seemed boundless just moments before now felt nearly depleted after his brief respite. He was utterly incapable of contending with the wolves.
Confounded by the sudden weakness in his body, Qin Yu couldn't fathom why his once-rich Genuine Qi had all but vanished. But there was no time to ponder; his immediate concern was to break free from the encircling Giant Fang Wolves.
Their eyes locked onto him, the wolves issued a thunderous howl and lunged at Qin Yu from three directions. Rooted to the spot, Qin Yu could do nothing but raise his arms in a feeble attempt to defend himself. Why didn't he dodge? Simply put, there was nowhere left to dodge to.
Just as Qin Yu was convinced he was about to meet his end, a delicate shout pierced the air from nearby. Suddenly, a purple spirit sword hurtled towards him. Mere meters from the Giant Fang Wolves, the sword astonishingly split into three, each blade speeding towards a wolf. Within moments, the wolves were covered in gashes.
The Giant Fang Wolves quickly abandoned their attack on Qin Yu to confront the spiritual swords, but the blades were too nimble, darting between the wolves' massive forms like slippery eels. The wolves struggled even to graze them.
Qin Yu watched in a daze before it dawned on him that this was his chance to escape. Without a second thought, he retreated several meters and swiftly moved to safety.
Meanwhile, the spiritual swords had the wolves thoroughly subdued. Qin Yu looked towards the source of the earlier shout and saw a young girl in purple, her delicate hands subtly guiding the swords, her gaze fixed on the wolves.
Soon, the wolves were overwhelmed, their bodies crisscrossed with deep cuts, bleeding profusely. Seizing the moment, the girl in purple charged at the wolves. With a low cry, the three swords merged back into one and obediently returned to her hand. Without a moment's hesitation, she leaped into the fray, her sword a blur of motion. The wolves were left motionless.
With a swift motion, the girl sheathed her sword and stepped out from between the wolves. In that instant, the wolves collapsed, their severed heads rolling away from their lifeless bodies.
Qin Yu was astounded. The girl's strength was fearsome; her prowess suggested she was at least at the Body Tempering Stage Level Eight. To be so young and so powerful was nothing short of extraordinary.
The girl in purple strode confidently to the heads of the three Giant Fang Wolves. With an effortless swing of her long sword, she cracked open their skulls and extracted the three Beast Cores with precise, clean movements.
After securing the Beast Cores, she turned her attention to Qin Yu, approaching him with a measured pace. Qin Yu could now make out her features more clearly: she had a picturesque face with perfectly proportioned features set on a delicate oval face. Her petite stature only accentuated her beauty, which could be summed up in one word: "Perfect!"
The purple-clothed girl gave Qin Yu a cursory glance and asked, "Who are you, and what brings you out here in the dead of night?"
Qin Yu was taken aback. Her tone suggested she was unaware that he was the Great Demon currently wanted by the Clear Essence Sect, meaning she was likely not one of the disciples sent to hunt him down. This realization allowed him to relax a bit. He took a few steps toward her, pondering how best to introduce himself.
As Qin Yu was formulating his introduction, the girl in purple simply gestured with her hand dismissively and turned away, saying, "Judging by your clothes, you must be a Miscellaneous Affairs Disciple from the Clear Essence Sect."
Qin Yu was momentarily stunned and found himself nodding involuntarily, despite knowing that he was no longer just a disciple; he was now a fugitive on the run from the Clear Essence Sect. Yet, in the presence of this girl, he couldn't conceive of any other identity for himself.
With a faint smile that made her delicate features even more enchanting, the girl turned to leave, her voice trailing behind her, "Alright, it's late, and it's not safe for someone of your cultivation level to be out here. If you run into danger again, don't expect me to be there to save you every time. You'd better head back quickly, or you'll have your sect's manager and elders to answer to."
Qin Yu was left speechless as the girl in purple continued on her way. Watching her prepare to leave, something stirred within him, and he took a few steps forward, calling out to her, "Wait, could you tell me your name?"
