C1 There Was Something Wrong with His Character.

Chapter One: A Flawed Character

"Where am I?" Lu Shaoyou mumbled, his head spinning. Dampness enveloped him, his body ached profoundly, and the biting wind caused him to shiver uncontrollably.

A chill crept over Lu Shaoyou's scalp, prompting him to open his eyes to darkness. Above, a slender crescent moon hung in the sky. It took a moment for his eyes to adjust to the dim moonlight before he realized he was in a pond, and it was deep into the night.

A piercing headache wracked Lu Shaoyou, forcing a cry of agony from him. He felt an unknown force battering his mind, and darkness claimed him once more.

As dawn approached, Lu Shaoyou stirred awake. The revelation that had just dawned on him nearly made him pass out again.

"I've transmigrated. This isn't a dream," he whispered, eyes wide as he surveyed his surroundings. The information flooding his mind, coupled with the myriad of transmigration novels he had read, left no doubt in Lu Shaoyou's mind—he had indeed crossed into another world. Such a chance was rarer than winning a hundred-million-yuan lottery, yet here he was.

Lu Shaoyou remembered his recent graduation from a low-tier university and landing a menial office job. He had been assisting a colleague with photocopying when the machine malfunctioned, and that's when his journey across worlds began.

In his previous life, Lu Shaoyou had been unencumbered and faced a dim future. Transmigration seemed like a stroke of luck. Perhaps he could carve out a significant existence in this new realm. After all, in the stories he had read, transmigrants often achieved greatness.

With the realization that he had transmigrated, Lu Shaoyou felt no sense of loss, only liberation. His past life had been unremarkable, his prospects dismal.

"Where is this place? How did I end up transmigrating here?" Lu Shaoyou pondered, piecing together the foreign memories in his mind.

Suddenly, despair washed over him. In stories, transmigrants were usually nobles or princes, but his situation was different.

He was a young master, peculiarly sharing the name Lu Shaoyou. At sixteen, he was the illegitimate son with a status lower than the servants. His mother, once a slave in the household, faced even greater oppression after his birth, living a life worse than before.

They suffered constant humiliation from family members and were disregarded by the household servants, particularly those serving his father's legitimate wife, who relentlessly tormented them.

Just the day before, after speaking out against these servants, he had been brutally beaten, an assault that led to his accidental death. In a panic, they discarded his body in a pond at the base of a cliff.

Reflecting on his tragic origins, Lu Shaoyou felt an overwhelming sadness, yet tears eluded him.

Now, with no other options, Lu Shaoyou resolved to persevere. He had narrowly escaped death and was determined to survive.

"We share the same name, and now I inhabit your body. I promise to seek vengeance for you and care for your mother," Lu Shaoyou vowed to himself.

With those words, clarity blossomed in his mind, and a murky energy that had clouded his thoughts vanished as if it had never been.

"You seem to harbor a great deal of resentment. Rest assured, I will seek your vengeance," Lu Shaoyou declared, his gaze fixed on the heavens above.

Contemplating a pressing issue, Lu Shaoyou found himself still sprawled in the icy pool, propped against a dead tree. The chill of the water suggested the dead of winter. Perhaps he had been numb for so long that he now barely felt anything.

With a struggle, Lu Shaoyou attempted to swim to the edge of the pool, cursing under his breath. His legs felt as though they were broken, and only when he exerted any effort did he realize his arms were fractured too. Now completely unable to muster any strength, moving even an inch seemed an impossible feat.

"I'm so damned unlucky," Lu Shaoyou muttered in frustration. Immobilized, he faced the grim prospect of freezing to death.

Suddenly, a sound reached his ears, reminiscent of an animal swiftly swimming through the water.

"Could it be a demon beast?" Lu Shaoyou recalled from memories that this world was nothing like his own. It was a realm where martial prowess reigned supreme, vast and teeming with Demon Beasts, Spirit Beasts, Martial Artists, and Spirit Masters.

In this world, Martial Artists and Spirit Masters occupied exalted positions, with Spirit Masters enjoying unparalleled reverence. The original Lu Shaoyou, unable to become either, had languished at the bottom of his family's hierarchy, less esteemed than even a servant.

As Lu Shaoyou pondered whether a demon beast was drawing near, a piercing screech echoed from above. A shadow passed overhead, and a colossal bird, spanning over a hundred meters, materialized in the sky.

The Giant Eagle soared directly above, its wings unfurled. It resembled an eagle, with white down on its underside and curved, formidable talons. The creature's intense gaze was fixed on him.

"Is this how I end up—a meal for this demonic creature?" Lu Shaoyou was astounded, having never encountered such a massive Giant Eagle in his previous life. A bitter, helpless chuckle escaped him; immobilized, he could do nothing but watch if the beast chose to devour him.

Lu Shaoyou sensed frantic movement behind him and the sound of wings slapping the water's surface.

The Giant Eagle dove, its talons unfurling in a flash.

"My life is over," Lu Shaoyou thought in despair. To be eaten by a Demonic Beast shortly after arriving in this world was the epitome of misfortune.

But as despair gripped him, a streak of black darted before his eyes. A shadowy figure leaped from behind, revealing another massive Flying Beast, its underbelly torn open and bleeding, clearly wounded.

In a moment, the two colossal beasts in the sky collided with a cacophony of roars. As Lu Shaoyou lay helplessly in the pool, rocked by the rippling water, the battle raged above.

The Giant Eagle's talons viciously struck at the bat-like creature. To Lu Shaoyou's amazement, the beast exhaled a cloud of white mist.

The mist billowed forth, and a piercing cold spread through the air. Within moments, the entire pool was encased in ice, a frozen tableau of nature's raw power.

Suspended in the sky, the Giant Eagle Demonic Beast was instantly encased in ice, and its massive form plummeted straight down.

The Giant Eagle crashed onto the icy surface ahead, fracturing and splintering the ice. The bat-like Demonic Beast appeared exceedingly frail as it slowly made its way across the ice to the fallen Giant Eagle.

Lu Shaoyou watched as the bat-like creature opened its razor-sharp maw, revealing two rows of fierce fangs, and with one bite, it ripped through the belly of the Giant Eagle Demonic Beast. A translucent green pearl, the size of an infant's fist, tumbled out onto the ice.
