C8 Was It too High or too Low?

With a physique score of '11,' Gao Chi had surpassed the average adult's constitution. It was only by a single point, but the difference was palpable to him.

"Tomorrow, I'll buy a car and then see about getting a gym membership!"

Checking the time, he was surprised to find it was already 6:30 PM.

He hadn't realized he'd spent the entire afternoon in a slump.

"Damn, this isn't good!" he exclaimed, springing up from the couch in frustration.

Dressed and out the door, Gao Chi returned to the Bright Moon Grand Hotel.

The hundred million yuan wasn't just for show; the hotel's cuisine was genuinely exceptional. Not only did it offer a chance to rack up points, but it also provided a fantastic meal.

Upon Gao Chi's arrival, the receptionist's smile grew more heartfelt. "Welcome back, Mr. Gao!"

"Mr. Gao, Manager Zhang has arranged a private room for you this afternoon!" another receptionist chimed in, promptly guiding him.

"Thanks!" Gao Chi responded with a smile, though inwardly he mused, "Money sure does talk!"

As he stepped into the elevator, the receptionist hastened to call Manager Zhang's office. "Manager, Mr. Gao has arrived!"

After the call, her gaze lingered on the elevator Gao Chi had taken, her eyes brimming with adoration.

Even though Gao Chi was unaware of her name, it didn't prevent her from harboring a deep 'affection' for the affluent Mr. Gao.

Gao Chi was led to a private room spanning roughly a hundred square meters, complete with a large round table, an office desk, a pricey laptop, and a massive eighty-inch color TV on the wall.

"How would you like to arrange your dinner, Mr. Gao?" the waiter inquired with deference.

"Just keep it simple tonight. I'll leave the details to you," Gao Chi replied with a dismissive wave.

"Certainly, Mr. Gao!" As the waiter turned to leave, Gao Chi added, "Oh, and that lobster from lunch was excellent. I'll have another one of those, please."

The waiter paused, a bit taken aback. So much for simple.

Nonetheless, she maintained her composure and her smile. "Of course," she said, and made her exit.

Zhang Wei received a call from the front desk informing him that Mr. Gao, the man who had splurged a billion yuan earlier that day, had arrived. Dropping everything, he quickly straightened his attire before making a beeline for the private room where Gao Chi was seated.

After all, Mr. Gao could very well be his future boss, and Zhang Wei was determined to make a good impression.

Before long, Zhang Wei reached the private room and gently tapped on the door.

"Come in!" Gao Chi called out, pacing the room with his hands clasped behind him like a seasoned official on an inspection tour.

With a cautious push, Zhang Wei entered and greeted, "Mr. Gao!"

"Manager Zhang! Hello!" Gao Chi responded with a nod.

Zhang Wei, not overly familiar with Gao Chi, only knew of his immense wealth. He ventured, "Mr. Gao, I've spoken with the owner today. He's aware of your interest in purchasing the hotel."

"Hmm!" Gao Chi perked up, pausing his stroll to inquire, "Well? Is he willing to sell?"

Zhang Wei hesitated before replying, "Our owner would like to discuss it with you in person tomorrow at noon."

"That works!" Gao Chi chuckled. "So, as long as the price is agreeable, there's no issue?"

Money was the least of his concerns. Far from being cash-strapped, due to the system's demands, he actually preferred a steeper price.

"There's more," Zhang Wei continued, watching Gao Chi's reaction closely. "Our owner is asking for 13 billion..."

Gao Chi's brow furrowed. "Only 13 billion?" He had set his sights on acquiring the Bright Moon Grand Hotel at noon, initially guessing it would cost a few billion. After a quick check in the afternoon, he realized how laughable his original estimate was.

Considering the initial construction cost of the Bright Moon Grand Hotel was over a hundred billion, plus all the equipment and renovations, he had anticipated a figure closer to 20 billion.

Yet here was Manager Zhang, quoting a mere 13 billion!

Zhang Wei's eyelids couldn't stop twitching. What in the world did that mean? Was the quote too high or too low?

"Alright then!" Gao Chi agreed with a nod. "I'll discuss it with your boss tomorrow."

While they were talking, the waiter began to bring out the food.

"Manager Zhang, have you had dinner yet? Care to join me?" Gao Chi inquired, noticing the succession of dishes arriving at the table.

Zhang Wei hastily offered a polite smile. "Please, go ahead and enjoy your meal. I need to report back to the boss first!"

"Sure thing!" Gao Chi genuinely felt a bit lonely eating by himself and had extended the invitation in earnest, but he didn't expect Zhang Wei to be so hesitant. Shrugging it off, he picked up his chopsticks and began to eat.

He had no idea how much the meal cost, but he knew he had spent a whopping hundred million yuan.

After finishing his meal, Gao Chi opted not to hail a cab and instead strolled home at a leisurely pace.

The Bright Moon Grand Hotel wasn't too far from the villa district; a brisk twenty-minute walk was all it took, which he figured was good for digestion.

Since Gao Chi wasn't pressed for time, it took him over thirty minutes to get home, and by then, it was nearly eight o'clock.

With time to spare, he pulled out a notebook and began planning his next big spending spree, chewing on the end of his pen.

"First things first, I need to buy a car! The villa's garage has seven parking spots, so I'll get seven cars—one for each day of the week, no repeats."

"What's next? A house in a good school district? Yeah, that's a solid investment. I'll become a property mogul!"

"Hmm, speaking of property, I should find a real estate agent tomorrow to handle the house hunting for me!"

"Hey, that's a brilliant idea!"

Imagining his path paved with gold, he couldn't help but chuckle to himself.

Tossing the pen aside, he flopped back onto the couch and pulled out his phone to look up some of Jingzhou City's most reputable real estate agencies.

He had just unlocked his phone when a group notification popped up. He was a member of numerous Wechat groups, all of which he had muted since he rarely paid them any mind. But this time, someone had used the @everyone tag, prompting the alert.

Gao Chi had initially set out to browse listings from real estate agents, but an unexpected message threw a wrench into his plans.

"Cat Tooth's Laulau fan group?"

He stared at the group name, befuddled, struggling to recall when he had joined a live streaming fan group. He hadn't had spare cash to spend on live streams before, so he was certain he hadn't joined any such groups.

He was on the verge of exiting the group when a new message caught his eye.

The hope of the entire village: "Goddess Laulau has spoken. I'm off to rack up some cat beans..."

"..."

"Holy crap, Wang Ding!" It hit Gao Chi like a bolt of lightning why he was in this group!

'The hope of the entire village' was none other than Wang Ding's WeChat moniker. Roughly a year prior, Wang Ding had wanted to boost his idol's popularity and roped Gao Chi into following Goddess Laulau's live stream.

Wang Ding had claimed that this Goddess Laulau was the reigning beauty queen of the Art Institute in Jingzhou City.
