C10 The Day of the Engagement Was Attacked by the Enemy.(2)

"Remember, they are correct. But also keep in mind, do not act recklessly without absolute certainty," Wu Yun advised, holding her children's hands tightly.

Outside, the atmosphere had grown chaotic. Meng Ying was engaged in combat, not resorting to poisonous techniques but relying on his advanced skills, and he was holding his own against multiple adversaries.

Dao Ba and Ren Jian stood back-to-back, seizing the opportunity of their opponents' initial confusion. They coordinated their moves skillfully, disrupting the enemy formation repeatedly.

For some reason, Fu Shi had started playing her zither. The melodic notes acted like fine needles, penetrating the enemies, unsettling their focus, and dissipating their limited spiritual energy.

Surprisingly, the most effective among them was Ma Wei. With expert handling of his knives, he left one opponent's hand reduced to a skeletal remnant. Despite the evident pain, the injured man retreated and attempted to heal himself with a medicinal pill—though its effects were diminished in this setting.

Yang Xingyi and Hall Master Kuan, realizing their limited progress, began distributing medicinal pills. Time was against them; the space gate they had utilized possessed significant self-healing abilities.

Meng Ying smiled subtly as he tossed some medicinal pills to Dao Ba and Ren Jian. They immediately swallowed the pills and began the process of internal refinement.

Meng Ying abstained from taking any pills himself. He knew that today's intruders were not the ultimate threat. The resources needed to open the space gate would have been considerable. He was waiting for the true orchestrators of this intrusion to reveal themselves.

Today was the wedding day for Feng Lian and Mengjie, and the courtyard was filled with the village's venerable elders—all potential hostages whose lives could be used to coerce Meng Ying and his allies.

Throughout their years in the Unfamiliar Village, Meng Ying and his colleagues had never fully unleashed their power, primarily to avoid causing irrevocable harm to their sanctuary. For cultivators, the concept of home holds exceptional importance. The idea of damaging their sanctuary was an outcome they were keen to avoid, regardless of the battle's outcome.

The initial encounter was merely a warm-up; the forthcoming battle could be lethal. Meng Ying was mentally prepared for what lay ahead, running through various tactics.

It was unclear if Dao Ba and Ren Jian recovered faster than the other party due to their familiarity with the Unfamiliar Village or the efficacy of Meng Ying's medicine. Regardless, they were not back to their full strength yet.

Dao Ba and Ren Jian, sensing their restored abilities, wasted no time in taking the offensive. They charged into the enemy lines, weapons swinging.

The Hui Avoiding Sect fighters were caught off guard by the audacity of the attack and suffered minor losses initially. They quickly regrouped, encircling Dao Ba and Ren Jian.

Meng Ying was dumbfounded. He had planned to draw out the fight, hoping for the unseen masterminds to reveal themselves or for the Space Gate to close. He had many ways to defeat them once cut off from the outside world.

"If you don't step in, Meng, we're toast!" Dao Ba and Ren Jian shouted. They were unharmed; their cries were merely a test to draw out Meng Ying's true capabilities, which they had never seen in action.

"I'll give you guys a hand," Ma Wei said, walking up with a sly grin.

Dao Ba was irritated by Ma Wei's lack of tactical awareness, almost wanting to kick him away.

Ma Wei's past exploits had left a mark on the Hui Avoiding Sect. Seeing him approach, they wanted to steer clear, but he targeted anyone who avoided him, disrupting the enemy formation.

"Loo Zilin, take out that big guy first!" Yang barked.

"You guys don't know how to appreciate a woman," Loo Zilin muttered. Yet, when she attacked, her skills spoke volumes. She was an expert at soft combat techniques, forming a shield from her Spiritual Qi that was sturdy and slippery as an eel.

Ma Wei was fuming, feeling as if he were stuck in a swamp fighting her. He couldn't unleash his full strength at all.

Loo Zilin wasn't one to mess with. Wearing a bone glove, she targeted Ma Wei's vulnerabilities with ruthless precision. Several times, she even aimed at his life-critical spots.

Ma Wei was seething with rage. No matter what he tried, he couldn't lay a finger on her. She was like a slippery vine, wrapping around him and thwarting his every move.

Ma Wei knew that landing a hit on her would risk injuring himself. The odds of successfully striking her were almost zero. One wrong move, and she could quickly destroy his vital organs.

The Hui Avoiding Sect's strength was formidable. Their members were a force to reckon with: Hall Master Kuan could boost morale, Yang Xingyi was a master strategist, and Loo Zilin excelled at close combat and assassination. And these were just the scouts; the real powerhouses were still behind the scenes.

Meng Ying wasn't sure he could outlast whoever was pulling the strings. But he took solace in having Fu Shi on his side. Her wide-ranging attacks could sap the enemy's Spiritual Qi, buying them some time.

"Six of you, handle those two. Hall Master Kuan, take out the old hag. Meng Ying, you're mine," Yang Xingyi barked, lunging at Meng Ying without hesitation. "Move fast; the space gate won't stay open long."

Meng Ying, feeling belittled by Yang Xingyi, snorted and met him head-on with a forceful punch.

Yang was ready for him. He dodged to Meng Ying's rear and landed a decisive blow that sent him hurtling forward.

"Look out!" Yang hollered, but it was too late. His overpowering force had unintentionally sent Meng Ying behind the group, ganging up on Dao Ba and Ren Jian. Swiftly, Meng Ying brandished two jade cones, burying them into the backs of two from the group.

Dao Ba and Ren Jian shot Meng Ying a grateful glance. This was the complex Meng Ying they both loathed and admired. They found themselves itching to see more of his incredible moves.

Hall Master Kuan dashed toward Fu Shi, sure he could take her down effortlessly. But the moment he got close, it felt like he'd lost his bearings like a soulless zombie.

Snapping back to reality after about ten seconds, Hall Master Kuan quickly distanced himself from Fu Shi. His mind steadied, but his eyes were filled with dread as he stammered, "Is this the Hallucination domain? Are you... are you that person from years ago?"

Startled by his own words, Hall Master Kuan backpedaled a dozen meters. Only then did he muster the courage to tap into his soul power to assess the state of his consciousness.
