One could never be too careful; an assassin from the Ning Family might be lurking, waiting to strike.

Under the cloak of night, Ning Gao activated the Blood Evil in his eyes, sharpening his vision of the nearby terrain, which became significantly clearer. However, this enhancement turned his eyes a striking shade of crimson.

Noticing a quivering bush a hundred meters away, Ning Gao crouched and watched stealthily.

As expected, a rabbit of the third level Apprentice Realm sprang from the underbrush.

Just as Ning Gao was about to let down his guard, ready to hunt the rabbit for his evening meal, the bush began to tremble once more.

There were others lurking about!

Ning Gao, who was just about to stand, crouched back down.

"Little rabbit, just accept your fate as my roast dinner!"

A figure leapt from the bushes, moving with an effortless grace and wielding a long sword. Bathed in the moonlight, he thrust the blade into the rabbit, skewering it instantly.

The man turned, his profile facing Ning Gao's hiding spot, and under the moonlight, Ning Gao's eyes widened in shock.

Lee Fei!

Murderous intent flooded Ning Gao's gaze.

This was the very man who had cast him into the abyss. Had it not been for his extraordinary luck and a serendipitous encounter, he would have perished without a trace.

"Damn you, Ning Gao! With so many out for your blood, why the hell are you still breathing? You've even got me kicked out and hunting you down on orders of the Patriarch."

Lee Fei used his sword to gut the rabbit, discarded the entrails, and walked towards the riverbank with the remaining meat.

All the while, Ning Gao, concealed in the underbrush, watched every move.

So, this man was another sent to assassinate him.

Ning Gao pondered the situation. Lee Fei's covert attempt on his life at the Ning residence must have been a gamble, likely searching for something on Ning Gao's person. Failing to find it, his frustration led to the attempt on Ning Gao's life.

Little did he know, Ning Gao had not died. Now, fearing his secrets might be revealed, Lee Fei had returned to finish the job.

But Ning Gao was no longer the weakling he had once been.
