C18 Wolf Pack

Hearing about Ning Gao's capabilities from Lee Hu, Wang Bin and Xue Hong were taken aback. They hadn't expected such strength from a young man who didn't look his age.

"Little Ning, have you noticed? Our Snow Tiger Mercenary Group isn't like the others. We don't have strict rules. Aside from when we're on group missions, you're free to do as you please," Lee Hu said, draping an arm over Ning Gao's shoulder as he filled him in on the group's ways.

They had been operating in the mountains for a week, hunting enough magical beasts for their expedition. According to their schedule, they were set to head back that afternoon.

The group gathered around the campfire, chatting away. Once they had finished their meal, they lay on the ground, each trying to outdo the others with tall tales.

Ning Gao, lying off to the side, abruptly spat out the blade of grass he'd been chewing and stood up, peering intently in one direction. His sensitivity to the scent of blood had heightened ever since he began practicing the Gluttony Blood Scripture.

He detected a faint bloody odor in the air, which was odd considering the leftover meat scraps from their roast had been thoroughly disposed of.

"Could it be..." Ning Gao mused.

He approached Lee Hu and whispered, "Brother Hu, I need to step out for a moment."

"Kid, you're off to the bathroom right after eating?" Lee Hu teased.

With Lee Hu's nod, Ning Gao left the camp, following the blood scent and scaling a large tree for a better view. His heart skipped a beat at the sight—trouble was indeed brewing. A pack of dozens of Gray Wolves was closing in on their camp!

Ning Gao hurried down from the tree and dashed back to camp.

"Xiao Ning, what's the rush? Are you having some kind of trouble?" Lee Hu inquired, noticing Ning Gao's haste.

"Brother Hu, we've got a problem. I spotted a large wolf pack heading our way from the tree. They're clearly targeting us," Ning Gao reported.

"It looks like a mother wolf is searching for her pup," Wang Bin speculated.

"So, Brother Hu, what's our move?" Xue Hong asked, his voice tinged with urgency.

"We don't have time to run. We've got no choice but to stand our ground and fight!" Lee Hu declared, fists at the ready.

"Alright, I'll take the lead!" Ning Gao declared.

As soon as the words left his mouth, Ning Gao transformed into a fleeting shadow, charging toward the wolf pack like a specter.

"Xiao Ning!" Lee Hu tried to call out to Ning Gao, but it was already too late.

"This kid is really asking for trouble!" Wang Bin remarked.

"We need to get there fast; it's too dangerous for him to be alone!" Xue Hong urged.

"Brothers, charge!" Lee Hu drew his long saber, lifting it high into the air.

"Charge!"

With weapons in hand, everyone dashed in Ning Gao's direction.

...

The wolves howled to the heavens, their cries seeming to vibrate through the ground.

If an ordinary person were here now, they would undoubtedly be frightened to death!

But Ning Gao was no ordinary person. He possessed the bloodline of the ancient and ferocious Gluttony, and it was the purest of bloodlines.

Before Ning Gao, any beast or spirit animal was merely prey.

"Blood Demon Claw!"

Ning Gao's hands morphed into claws, a blood-red aura swirling around them.

He plunged into the heart of the wolf pack, brandishing his blood-red claws.

"Roar—"

A voice, barely there yet brimming with boundless malice, echoed.

The whole world seemed to fall silent.

This was the roar of the ancient Gluttony, a sound that could shake the very heavens and earth!

In the midst of the wolves, Ning Gao swung his bloodied claws like a deity of death, each strike claiming several lives.

His clothes were soaked through with blood, obscuring their original color.

Lee Hu, along with his Snow Tiger mercenaries, rushed to the scene, only to find a blood-red figure locked in a fierce battle within the pack.
