C3 Sooner or Later I'll Settle the Score
"Lee Fei! My life isn't over yet! Mark my words, I'll settle the score with you one day!"
As Ning Gao recalled the one who had cast him into the abyss, his eyes brimmed with murderous intent.
Once he regained his composure, Ning Gao remembered touching a ray of light in the dark chasm just before losing consciousness. Then...
Inspecting his body, he noticed that his previous injuries had completely healed. His inner strength was flowing ceaselessly. Ning Gao released his aura, taken aback by his own formidable presence.
His physical strength had significantly improved, now bursting with explosive power.
After quenching his thirst with a few sips of water, Ning Gao climbed ashore to search for food.
He was no stranger to the Misty Forest, having navigated its terrain on numerous occasions.
However, his familiarity was limited to the outskirts. With his current level of strength, he would have been devoured by a spirit animal before even reaching the inner areas.
"What was that white light?" Ning Gao pondered, his mind lost in a maelstrom of thoughts.
In a daze, he envisioned a landscape littered with mountains of corpses and rivers of blood. He hovered above, surveying the carnage, the ancient and primeval scent of death permeating the air.
Each of the surrounding corpses was colossal, exuding a formidable presence even in death.
A realization dawned on Ning Gao; these fallen beings, in their lifetime, could have easily laid waste to Vuiburgh. Not even the combined forces of the three great families could withstand the might of a single one.
As the blood qi dissipated, a majestic beast appeared atop a towering peak.
Crafted like a tapestry of intricate patterns, it glowed with an endless crimson light, its stature commanding, standing tall like a pillar supporting the heavens.
An epiphany struck Ning Gao. On this ancient land, this creature was the epitome of supremacy, and the fallen challengers were testament to its unrivaled power. The blood qi was a manifestation of its lethal intent.
The authority of this supreme being was undeniable, its presence reverberating in all directions.
The blood beast lifted its head and let out a thunderous roar, causing the very fabric of the universe to tremble.
Ning Gao snapped back to reality, the lush green forest still surrounding him. Where was the desolate world he had imagined?
"Could it have been a hallucination?"
A grumble from his stomach jolted Ning Gao back to full alertness.
Whatever it was, it didn't matter right now. His first priority was to satisfy his hunger, as he was absolutely famished.
He didn't have to search long before he spotted a scarlet pheasant nearby.
Handling an ordinary pheasant was child's play for him.
As Ning Gao punched the pheasant to death, he suddenly felt a slight increase in the spiritual energy within his body. It wasn't a significant boost, but it was enough for him to notice a difference in his strength.
"Oh no, I must be hallucinating from hunger," Ning Gao muttered, shaking his head in frustration.
Could killing a pheasant actually make him stronger?
This illusion was too far-fetched. If that were true, then why would anyone bother with cultivation? They'd all be out hunting pheasants.
After finishing his meal, Ning Gao dusted off his hands and made his way back to the Ning Family.
Despite his deep-seated hatred for Lee Fei, he still needed the protection of the Ning Family. If Lee Fei discovered him alone outside, he would surely be a target for assassination.
Escaping once didn't guarantee future luck.
Ning Gao had no intention of risking his life like that.
The Ning Family might not be the most welcoming place, but at least they wouldn't outright kill him.
As he strode through a thicket, a startled pheasant burst out.
Ning Gao quickly caught it, planning to kill it for a later meal.
The welfare of the Ning Family had declined to the point where there was no meat to eat. Improving his situation meant hunting for his own food.
But in that moment, Ning Gao felt his spiritual energy surge once more.
Frozen in place, his hands began to shake uncontrollably.
Could it be possible...
