C6 Stay Here
Ning Gao approached quietly and whispered, "Manager, if you could let me work in the poultry yard, I am willing to do the work of three people every day. The wages for the extra two jobs can be seen as a token of my respect for you."
Upon hearing this, the manager's eyes narrowed slightly, and his gaze began to whirl.
"Do the work of three, kid? With your skills, can you handle it?"
"Yes, if the manager is willing to take me on, I will certainly complete the tasks diligently!"
A sly smile flickered in Ning Gao's eyes; he sensed the manager's resolve weakening.
The wages for two extra jobs might not amount to much, but it was still additional income. Why pass up free money?
"If you can slaughter a hundred pigs today, I'll speak to Ning Hu about your request," the manager finally relented, making up his mind.
"Thank you, manager. I'll get right to work." Ning Gao hurried back to the pigsty and began another round of slaughter.
He didn't understand what was happening to his body, but every time he took a life, his strength grew. With each advancement in level, his physical stamina seemed to replenish a bit.
Leveraging this ability, Ning Gao managed to continuously slaughter pigs all morning without a break.
As evening fell, Ning Gao returned to his small hut and lay down in the pool.
He had killed a total of one hundred and twenty pigs today, surpassing the manager's target by twenty.
Impressed by Ning Gao's efficiency, the manager took care of all the formalities. Before leaving work, he instructed Ning Gao to officially start as a poultry yard worker the following day.
The manager's smile was notably warmer when directed at Ning Gao compared to the other workers.
After washing off the day's grime and feeling refreshed, Ning Gao lay on his bed with his eyes closed.
Suddenly, his mind was flooded with a brilliant light, and a surge of vital energy filled his consciousness.
Opening his eyes, Ning Gao found himself once again in that primeval world.
This time, there was no battle, only an inexplicable stillness.
A thunderous boom echoed overhead, startling Ning Gao into stepping back from the cliff's edge. Yet, when he looked up, there was no sign of thunder or lightning in the sky.
The howling wind before Ning Gao dissipated, revealing an increasingly vivid landscape ahead. He sensed an overwhelming presence confronting him, accompanied by the sound of distant thunder. This time, however, Ning Gao could pinpoint the source of the noise.
As if in a daze, the supreme blood beast from his dreams materialized, its hooves treading the void as it approached him. Ning Gao's body had become rigid, immobilized to the point where he could do nothing but watch the blood beast advance.
Is this the end for me?
A profound sense of despair filled Ning Gao's heart. He was just beginning to make progress on his path of cultivation; the thought of it ending so abruptly was unbearable.
The beast lifted a front hoof high into the air, aiming it directly at Ning Gao. Resigned to his fate, he closed his eyes, bracing for the inevitable.
But at the moment the hoof was to touch Ning Gao's forehead, the massive form of the beast shattered, transforming into a cascade of blood-red starlight that enveloped the sky.
Ning Gao opened his eyes in bewilderment, struggling to comprehend the spectacle before him. The starlight slowly coalesced into lines of text that floated in front of him.
"Gluttony... Blood Sutra?"
As he read on, Ning Gao was astonished to discover that the text outlined a cultivation technique, one with origins in the ferocious beasts of ancient times. Gluttony, a creature of legend, was known as one of the mightiest beings to ever exist.
