C11 The Richest Man Became His Subordinate?
The engine hummed to life, and soon we were pulling into Su Mang's villa. Before I could even step out, Su Mang slid into the seat beside me. Clad in a sleek business suit, she showcased her statuesque figure, while her simple ponytail underscored her elegance. Her stunning features and icy demeanor radiated an undeniable allure.
Upon her arrival, I couldn't help but pause, struck by her transformation. The drunken woman from last night was replaced by a vision of grace and sophistication. Su Mang turned to me, a playful blink sending a jolt through me, prompting me to avert my eyes.
Ten minutes later, the car came to a halt. "Let's go," she said, taking my hand as we exited the vehicle. I looked up to find ourselves at a hotel – the Hongtai Hotel. My eyes widened in recognition. Another top-tier five-star establishment? Her wealth was one thing, but this felt like an extravagance too far.
"Third Sister, a simple meal would have sufficed. There's no need for such opulence," I protested weakly.
"Opulent?" Su Mang seemed genuinely perplexed.
I was at a loss for words.
"This isn't about dining out. I want to set you up with some assets, so you're not aimlessly idling your days away," she explained.
My helplessness deepened. So this was a business meeting, not a casual lunch.
Inside, a waiter moved to greet us but was swiftly blocked by a bodyguard. We rode the elevator straight to the penthouse. I scanned the surroundings with curiosity as we approached the conference room. The bodyguards didn't bother with formalities, shoving the doors open with a thud.
Su Mang strode in with the commanding presence of a general, not bothering to knock. I was dumbfounded by her audacity.
The conference room was expansive, yet only two others were present. A portly middle-aged man sat at the head of the table, a tall woman standing behind him. The sound of the door caused him to jolt, his flesh quivering.
His complexion turned stormy in an instant, and my heart sank. We hadn't even begun, and it seemed the deal was already in jeopardy. But as the man rose in anger and caught sight of Su Mang, his scowl vanished, replaced by a markedly different expression.
A sycophantic voice filled the room.
"Director Su, welcome. Thank you for your hard work, Director Su! Why didn't you let me know you were coming? I had a whole welcome ceremony planned."
The fat man wobbled his greasy frame, nodding and bowing with a grin plastered across his face.
Zhang Chen was gobsmacked.
The man's face had shifted expressions at lightning speed.
Su Mang took her place at the head of the table, legs elegantly crossed, her face a mask of cool detachment.
Her presence was commanding!
Zhang Chen stood to the side, awkwardly unsure of himself.
With an eye roll, Su Mang said dismissively, "Have a seat."
That's when Zhang Chen took his place to Su Mang's left, his embarrassment palpable.
The fat man was visibly taken aback by this. He quickly nodded and bowed to Zhang Chen, acknowledging him with a greeting.
Zhang Chen gave an awkward chuckle and promptly averted his gaze.
The fat man inquired with deference, "Director Su, I had no idea you were coming. Is there something you need?"
Director Su?
Zhang Chen blinked, a wave of bewilderment washing over him.
In a detached tone, Su Mang instructed, "Pick out a hotel and transfer it to his name."
She spoke with such nonchalance, as if discussing a trivial transaction.
Zhang Chen was flabbergasted.
The fat man, momentarily taken aback, looked at Zhang Chen again, his eyes alight with unbridled excitement.
"Of course, sir. It's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Chen Dafu. Please, let me know your preferences at any time!"
Chen Dafu approached Zhang Chen with urgency, grasping his hand firmly and speaking with earnest respect.
Chen Dafu's fervor only deepened Zhang Chen's discomfort.
"Hello."
He began to reply courteously but stopped short, frozen in place.
Chen Dafu?
Zhang Chen's head snapped up as he asked incredulously, "What did you say your name was?"
Chen Dafu's handshake faltered briefly as he replied with a sly smile, "Chen Dafu."
Zhang Chen was astounded!
The Chen Dafu? Ningzhou's real estate magnate?
Over half of Ningzhou's properties were owned by Chen Dafu!
And sixty percent of its luxury hotels!
He was face-to-face with the Chen Dafu?
Zhang Chen swallowed hard, his mind reeling with amazement.
He was a business legend in Ningzhou! And he was showing such deference to Third Sister!
Su Mang gave Zhang Chen an exasperated look and muttered, "You really are hopeless."
Zhang Chen managed a strained smile.
Wouldn't the entire Lin family have to bow and scrape before Chen Dafu?
After a moment of stunned silence, Zhang Chen said with resignation, "Third Sister, I don't know the first thing about running these businesses. Isn't it just a waste to have me try?"
Su Mang responded nonchalantly, "It's just a trifle. Enough for you to squander."
With that, Zhang Chen had nothing more to say.
"Just transfer ownership of the hotel to him for now. We'll discuss the rest later."
With a dismissive wave of her hand, Su Mang made the decision for him.
Zhang Chen's mouth twitched again as he inwardly sighed.
"Yes, Director Su, please hold on, Young Master Chen, just a moment!"
Chen Dafu exclaimed before dashing out of the conference room, his face alight with excitement.
Zhang Chen was bewildered.
How did losing a hotel seem like he had gained one instead?
The wealthiest man in Ningzhou was actually addressing him as Young Master.
Su Mang sat with her legs crossed, exuding a powerful presence, and remained silent.
"Excuse me, where's the restroom?" Zhang Chen inquired, looking up at the female secretary before him.
Startled, she quickly responded, "Young Master Chen, you can call me Wu. I'll show you the way!"
Zhang Chen nodded in acknowledgment.
He followed Wu out of the meeting room. Across from the elevator was a spacious open-plan office where several white-collar employees were at work.
They must be the executives of the hotel.
"Young Master Chen, it's right here," Wu said, stopping and speaking to Zhang Chen with deference.
"Great, thanks."
Zhang Chen replied cheerfully, still finding the honorific somewhat odd.
He stepped into the restroom.
Feeling refreshed after taking care of business and washing his hands, he exited the restroom.
Wu was nowhere to be seen.
Zhang Chen flicked the water from his hands, ready to head back.
But he had barely taken a few steps when a piercing voice suddenly rang out beside him.
Zhang Chen jumped in alarm.
Had there not been a noise, he would have sworn he'd stepped on a cat's tail!
