C16 True Hero Saving the Beauty

Upon seeing that stunning figure once more, Situ Yu couldn't help but become a bit starstruck.

Even in casual attire, she managed to look anything but ordinary.

Surrounded by several men, a hint of panic crept into her heart, though her composure remained unbroken on her face.

The young beauty at her side, however, was truly formidable. With hands on her hips, she confronted the men with a bold defiance.

"What do you think you're doing, blocking our way like this?"

"Hey, little firecracker, why so aggressive? Careful, or you might end up alone."

"Mind your own business! Do you think just anyone is worthy of me?"

"Look at you, all sharp-tongued. We've taken a liking to you. So, what'll it be? Will you join us for a few drinks, or shall we invite you for a chat about life?"

One of the men, a hulking figure with a menacing scowl, loomed over them threateningly.

The sight of this modern-day Zhang Fei lookalike left the young girl feeling outmatched, but she bravely retorted,

"Don't you dare! I'm calling the police!" She reached for her phone to dial 110.

But with a swift smack, her phone was knocked to the ground.

"Second Dog, pin this girl down. Keep her in line."

At Big Boss Black's command, Second Dog moved to restrain the young girl.

Just then, a breathtaking figure stepped in front of the girl.

"Do you really think it's okay to bully a girl like this?!" The beautiful woman's soothing voice caused the thugs to melt. It was mesmerizing.

The thugs were momentarily dazed by her voice, but Big Boss Black quickly regained his wits.

"Second Dog, Third Cannon, take them. We're going to have ourselves a good time today," he said, wiping drool from his chin.

The two underlings snickered at their boss's command and advanced on the sisters.

"Ah, my back!"

Before they could lay a hand on the girls, their boss let out a pained cry. They turned to see Big Boss Black on the ground, writhing in pain and clutching his waist, clearly the victim of a swift counterattack.

Situ Yu caught sight of two thugs menacing a pair of sisters from behind and, in a rush of adrenaline, charged forward, landing a whip kick squarely on the unsuspecting gang leader's waist. The boss crumpled to the ground in an instant.

It struck him as odd, considering the thug's build, which was clearly more robust than his own. How had he managed such a decisive blow? Was the thug all show and no substance, like a flashy gun that fails to fire?

Bolstered by this thought, Situ Yu's confidence swelled. He turned his attention to the remaining two thugs, known as Second Dog and Third Cannon.

The underlings had witnessed their boss being floored by an unexpected adversary—a tall, lean young man who didn't seem particularly remarkable. How had he taken down their boss with a single move? It had to be a sneak attack; that was the only explanation.

Clearly mismatched in weight class with their boss, they concluded it must have been a surprise move that led to his downfall.

Exchanging a glance and a subtle nod, they let a menacing glint flash in their eyes as they charged at Situ Yu from both sides.

Situ Yu had kept a close watch on their movements. As they lunged, he anticipated their attack paths, stepping back and launching a sprinting side kick into Ergou's stomach.

Sanpao, realizing Situ Yu's combat skills were formidable, drew a dagger and thrust it toward Situ Yu's midsection.

"Be careful!" The warning came from a stunningly beautiful girl.

Caught off-balance from his previous maneuver, Situ Yu could only grasp Sanpao's wrist in a reflexive grip, his hand sustaining a minor scrape in the process.

Sanpao felt the firm hold on his wrist and panicked, struggling to break free from the unexpectedly strong grip to no avail.

Once Situ Yu regained his footing, he disarmed Sanpao and delivered a solid kick to his abdomen. Three kicks, three thugs down.

He was puzzled by the noticeable increase in his reflexes and striking power. Even after two years of mining, he couldn't account for such a significant change.

"Insects are just insects; it's such a simple concept," Ke Lianna giggled to herself in her thoughts.

"Huh? What's the reason for this?" Situ Yu inquired mentally.

"Didn't I tell you that a level 1 Star Core can catalyze life forms?"

"But you mentioned it catalyzes plants, didn't you?"

"Oh? Did I? Are you sure you didn't misunderstand?" Ke Lianna cheekily retorted.

Situ Yu realized that Ke Lianna was just toying with him. The catalysis also had an effect on animals. Plus, since the Star Core had always been inside him, it had been at work for the longest time, hence the pronounced effect.

Meanwhile, the thugs who had seen the young man lost in thought quickly scurried away, supporting each other as they vanished from sight.

After the hooligans fled, the two sisters approached to thank Situ Yu. The younger girl came up to him, her curiosity piqued as she noticed his dazed expression. She recognized him as the annoying fellow from a couple of days ago.

"Sister, isn't this the guy who bumped into you at the flower and bird market, and then caught the thief on the bus?"

The stunning girl nodded, giving the young man, who was about her age, a thorough once-over. Her gaze paused when she noticed his hand.

"Thank you for saving us."

Situ Yu snapped out of his reverie at the sound of their voices. Facing the two gorgeous sisters, he bashfully replied, "No problem," and turned to leave.

The beautiful sister quickly stepped forward, "You're hurt. We should take you to the hospital."

Situ Yu glanced at the minor cut on his hand and chuckled, "It's really nothing, just a scratch." He was downplaying it, scoring himself a 99 to avoid seeming too proud, but in truth, it was out of a sense of unworthiness.

The girl pulled a wet wipe from her bag, gently cleaning his wound, then took out a handkerchief and tied a butterfly knot around his hand. Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment; she had never done this before and was unsure about the proper way to bandage a wound.

Situ Yu watched with a warm heart as the girl earnestly bandaged his wound. He knew a goddess like her would never be his, but this chance encounter would add a treasured memory to his life. The injury was worth it.

The little girl, noticing their expressions, chimed in, "Since you've saved us, we can't let your heroics go unrewarded. How about I give you my sister?"

Situ Yu choked on his own breath, coughing loudly at the bold proposition.

The sister shot a reproachful look at her sibling and apologized, "I'm sorry, she's quite the handful. Please, bear with us."

The little girl snickered to herself, pleased with her mischief.

The stunning woman then said, "We've met three times now. Let me formally introduce myself. I'm Yun Wan'er, a junior at S University."

She gestured towards her sister, "And this mischievous one is my little sister."

"I'm Yun Ling'er," the girl piped up, eager to introduce herself.

"I'm Situ Yu."

"Thank you for your help today. Since it's nearly dinner time, why don't we treat you to a meal as a token of our appreciation?"

"Yay, it's settled then!" Yun Ling'er quickly grabbed an arm of each companion and led them to hail a taxi by the roadside.

Once in the taxi, Yun Ling'er launched into an interrogation of Situ Yu, mercilessly grilling him.

If his answers were unsatisfactory, she'd pinch him from behind. Yun Wan'er watched her sister's antics without intervening, simply observing in silence.

Situ Yu was resigned to his fate, a mix of pain and pleasure, as they arrived at the neat little restaurant.

The place was named "Old Time Cuisine," its signboard exuding an air of antiquity. The restaurant was bustling, its decor matching the traditional vibe of the sign.

The waiter approached and inquired, "How many in your party, sir and ladies?"

"Three," Yun Wan'er answered in a gentle tone.

"Right this way," the waiter said, guiding them to a vacant table by the window. Once seated, the waiter presented the menu.

Yun Ling'er casually picked out a couple of dishes before passing the menu to her sister.

Yun Wan'er gave her a look that said, 'You're not shy, are you? Not even letting our guest order first.'

Yun Wan'er gracefully accepted the menu before passing it to Situ Yu, who courteously remarked, "It's my first time here, so I'm not sure what's good. Why don't you two order for us?"

Upon hearing Situ Yu's suggestion, Wan'er didn't protest further. She perused the menu, selecting several house specialties and a variety of drinks. The waiter jotted down their choices, retrieved the menu, and departed.

With time to spare, Situ Yu inquired with a hint of curiosity, "I've noticed we always seem to run into each other near the flower market. Are you fond of all those flowers and pets?"

"I can't stand them," Yun Ling'er replied with a huff. "They're practically relics for the old-fashioned. Our grandfather is one of those people; he's always heading over there when he's got nothing else to do. It forces us to go through all those wilted flowers and plants whenever we need to find him."

Her disdain for these things seemed to run deep, leaving one to wonder if there was a childhood incident that cast a long shadow.

In a gentle tone, Yun Wan'er explained, "We're on summer break, so we have plenty of free time to visit our grandfather. He owns a shop close to the market, and he's quite fond of his flora. That's why he's often in the area, and consequently, we find ourselves tagging along."

Situ Yu finally pieced together why he had bumped into the sisters so frequently. It was a serendipitous connection, especially since he had been visiting the area more often himself, leading to their repeated encounters.

After a few minutes of casual conversation, the drinks and dishes arrived. Yun Ling'er wasted no time in diving into the meal.
