C6 The Little Girl's Hair Had Grown Long!
No way, she'd rather be scorned by the street beggars than look at her mother's upturned nostrils!
Hu Yang paused to think, then quickly opened his junior high chat group and typed a message.
"I just gave Chi Bo a serious beating!"
The chat, which had been quiet, erupted like a pot boiling over.
Wang Ming replied instantly, "Hu Yang, has someone hacked your account?"
Hu Yang played along, "No, it's true. I hit him!"
"Hahaha, you can't fool us with your tall tales!"
"With that tiny frame of yours, how could you possibly take down Chi Bo?"
Ding! Ding! Ding!
The points in his system shot up!
Wang Ming's disdain added +15 points!
Luo Feng's laughter added +33 points!
And from others... +12, +16, +21...
Hu Yang couldn't help but smile at the effectiveness of his tactic. In no time, he racked up over two hundred points!
Strength in numbers, indeed!
But just then, Chi Bo sent a crying emoji. "Wuwuwu, Hu Yang really did beat me up. He was so brutal he knocked out one of my front teeth."
The group fell silent, and the accumulating points vanished.
Hu Yang was fuming. Chi Bo was his kryptonite, always spoiling his fun!
Wang Ming asked, "Chi Bo, what's the real story? How could Hu Yang have beaten you?"
Chi Bo kept up the act with more crying emojis. "Hu Yang's got serious skills with his fists and feet. He even broke two of my martial artist friend's ribs with a single punch!"
"No way, this can't be real, right?"
"It's not April Fool's Day, guys. Cut the jokes!"
Chi Bo then posted two photos. Hu Yang took one look and frowned. The guy's face was a mess, clearly showing he was hurt. Zhao Hu seemed worse off, his body swathed in gauze, stained with blood.
The group erupted again, with some sending thumbs up, others bowing in respect, and comments flying about Hu Yang's prowess. "Man, you're incredible! Who did you train with? Can you find time to teach us?"
It was clear that Chi Bo hadn't made many friends back in junior high. Nobody was concerned about why Hu Yang had hit him; instead, they reveled in his misfortune.
Hu Yang lost interest in scrolling through the photos and quickly exited the group chat.
In the bathroom, the sound of running water was accompanied by Wan cheerfully singing nursery rhymes, seemingly in high spirits.
Maybe the system was just trying to spook him. After all, Wan had only taken one Rebirth Spirit Pill and seemed perfectly fine.
Hu Yang's thoughts circled back to the question at hand. How exactly did the ancients play with the Demon Card?
It's just 100 points, right? I've got that now!
Ding!
With a thought, Hu Yang commanded "use," and an image of a tightly shut city gate materialized in his mind, its deep gray hue unchanged.
On each of the two massive doors were signs reading "Beauty" and "Hero."
Suddenly, a line of text flashed above the gate: "Exchange starts at 1,000 points for a beauty, 500 points for a hero."
Beauties are pricier than heroes? What's that about?
Does it mean that for 1,000 points, you could actually get a beauty?
Too bad he didn't have 1,000 points at the moment. Otherwise, he would have put it to the test, skeptical that a Sister Lin would actually descend from the heavens!
An hour later, Wan emerged, her hair damp, wearing a snug nightgown.
Hu Yang took a quick look and noticed she seemed taller, which explained the tighter fit of her nightgown. And it appeared her previously flat chest had... developed somewhat.
"Hu Yang, you're so naughty, always staring at me!" Wan threw him a reproachful look.
With an embarrassed chuckle, Hu Yang remarked, "You look like you've grown a bit."
Blushing, Wan crossed her arms protectively over her chest and murmured, "Yeah, I finally grew. It would be awful to stay flat forever."
We're definitely not on the same page here.
"How are you feeling now?"
"My skin's become so soft and smooth. Don't believe me? Go ahead, feel for yourself!"
"…" Hu Yang was at a loss for words.
"I feel so energetic, like I could go out and punch someone!" Wan's eyes sparkled as she made a fist.
Could that spirit pill have had some adverse effects?
Hu Yang felt a twinge of unease. Restlessly, he tossed and turned on the couch, flipping sesame cakes, sleep eluding him.
Wan was perhaps a little too overjoyed, bouncing around on the bed with such vigor. One moment she was executing a carp jump, the next, a somersault. It was a good thing she was light; otherwise, the bed might have succumbed to her enthusiasm.
As dawn approached, a rapid knocking jolted the silence.
Hu Yang, groggy from sleep, stumbled to the door to find a plump woman in her mid-thirties standing there with a scowl.
"You young folks, even if it's your honeymoon, there's no need for such theatrics!" she exclaimed.
What was she getting at?
Hu Yang's mental tally spiked by thirty-five points, but this time, it brought him no joy. Being unjustly scorned is unpleasant for anyone!
Wan emerged, rubbing her eyes and clad in her pajamas.
"How could you be so cruel at such a young age! Monster!" the woman berated before storming off.
Hu Yang's point count soared! +39, +39, +39! Perhaps this was the pinnacle of her disdain.
Wan, momentarily taken aback, dashed to the doorway, demanding, "Hey, Fatty! Clarify yourself. Who are you calling a monster?"
"Disgraceful!" The woman, already near the stairs, spun around and jabbed a finger at Wan. "Such a young age, and already up to no good. Disgraceful!"
Enraged, Wan charged, her fist poised to strike.
Hu Yang's eyes bulged as he realized the speed of Wan's punch. If it connected with the woman's face, it could spell trouble.
But as Wan's fist flew, she seemed to realize something. She pulled her punch at the last second, grazing the woman's face and instead, with a resounding "bang," her fist slammed into the wall, sending plaster scattering and leaving a shallow crater.
Stunned, then elated, Wan exclaimed, "Yes! I've really gotten stronger!"
The woman, thoroughly spooked and aware she was outmatched, beat a hasty retreat down the stairs.
Now thoroughly exhilarated, Wan dragged Hu Yang to a nearby grove. There, she unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks upon the unsuspecting trees, leaves tumbling to the ground as if she were a martial arts master.
Hu Yang felt a twinge of envy and regret. How great it would have been if he had consumed the Rebirth Spirit Pill the previous night!
To his surprise, the following morning, while it was still dark, he was abruptly awakened by Wan's piercing scream.
"Hu, I'm ruined!"
Witnessing Wan's frantic dash, Hu Yang quickly inquired, "What's wrong?"
"I've sprouted a bunch of black hairs all over me. Waaah, I look hideous!"
"Where did they appear? Show me!" Hu Yang's heart skipped a beat. Perhaps the system hadn't deceived him after all; consuming just one Rebirth Spirit Pill could indeed spell trouble!
"Right here." Wan pointed to her chest, her face a mix of shame and urgency.
