C19 Fatty Sun
Yang Wei had no interest in engaging with them, feeling annoyed.
He strode into the residential area without so much as a glance at the pair.
Zhang Lan was puzzled by his behavior.
"Honey, why is he heading into this neighborhood? Do you think he lives here?"
She then shook her head, continuing her speculation.
"No way, just look at him. He looks too destitute to even afford rent here."
Meanwhile, the plump man wrapped his arms around Zhang Lan, grinning from ear to ear, savoring the embrace of his lovely companion, and chuckled.
"Or maybe he's just an electrician called in by one of the families here."
"Could be, but let's not waste our time on this pauper."
They both laughed heartily at their own joke.
Their loud conversation carried over to Yang Wei, who overheard every word.
Feeling resigned, Yang Wei thought to himself that they were the ones who couldn't stop babbling from the get-go, making it seem as though he was the one desperately seeking their attention.
Back at home, Yang Wei discarded the wrapper from his finished pancake into the trash and poured himself some boiled water from the kettle on the coffee table.
As he sipped the water, his phone on the table began to buzz insistently.
After a previous incident, Yang Wei had set his ringtone back to the default.
He set down his glass and answered the call.
Ye Hua's sweet voice reached him once more.
"Great Hero Yang, are you free this evening?"
Her laughter caused a ripple of apprehension in Yang Wei.
Was she implying that he should come over to her place tonight for coffee and then...?
No, no, he was overthinking it again. That couldn't be it.
Yang Wei responded earnestly.
"I'm free. What's up?"
"Tonight, my classmate Sunn Li wants to have dinner with us. Remember, the Sunn Li we met at the Stellar Building?"
"Sure, send me the details."
Ye Hua promptly sent the location and details to Yang Wei's phone.
Upon checking, Yang Wei realized the dinner venue was right in his own neighborhood!
He glanced out the window with his phone in hand and saw a European-style hotel standing before him.
It was just a two-minute walk from his house to the hotel.
"Alright, I got it," Ye Hua said with a giggle on the other end of the phone.
"In the closet, there are a few pieces of clothing I bought for you. Pick your favorite and come quickly; Sunn Li and I are already waiting for you at the hotel."
After ending the call, Yang Wei entered the closet.
Upon opening the door, he was greeted by an array of clothing packed to the brim.
His eyes couldn't take in all the expensive suits, belts, and shoes at once.
A few minutes later, Yang Wei emerged.
He donned a black coat, left open to reveal the brown casual wear underneath, the fabric billowing as he moved.
His black trousers were clean and crisply pressed.
With his tall, slender frame and tousled hair falling across his forehead, Yang Wei could easily be mistaken for a celebrity—no doubt he could make a billion hearts flutter and keep countless girls awake at night.
Once ready, Yang Wei left his home and reached the hotel in minutes.
Stepping inside, he was taken aback.
The hotel, nestled within a residential area, boasted a luxury that rivaled, if not surpassed, that of the five-star establishments downtown. The opulent lobby, the plush private dining rooms, and the attentive waitresses in short skirts serving drinks and refreshments all spoke volumes about the status of their clientele.
At that moment, Yang Wei pulled out his phone and texted Ye Hua.
"I've arrived. Just going to use the restroom, I'll be there shortly."
No sooner had he sent the message than Ye Hua responded with an OK emoji.
Yang Wei pocketed his phone and headed for the restroom.
As he disappeared, a red Ferrari pulled up to the hotel entrance.
The car came to a smooth stop, and out stepped a man and a woman.
The man was portly, but the woman in his embrace was strikingly attractive, rivaling third or fourth-tier celebrities.
Under normal circumstances, her beauty would turn heads, but here, aside from the man holding her, she went unnoticed.
In this neighborhood, where residents wouldn't blink at spending millions, a woman like her barely registered a second glance.
Seeing the situation, the woman became slightly irritated and began to pout in the arms of the hefty man.
The hefty man pinched the woman's skin and laughed heartily.
"Sweetheart, go wait for me in the hall. I'll be there in a jiffy."
With that, the woman walked off toward the interior of the building.
Meanwhile, the hefty man strode confidently toward the restroom.
Inside the restroom.
Yang Wei, who had just finished up, was about to open the door to leave when it was pushed open from the outside.
As the door swung open, Yang Wei was met with a familiar face.
It was the same overweight man who had mocked him with Zhang Lan at the entrance of their neighborhood.
Wanting to avoid any interaction, Yang Wei quickly attempted to leave, only to be blocked by the man at the doorway.
The man looked Yang Wei up and down with a sneer.
"Those clothes are knock-offs, aren't they?"
Yang Wei remained silent, but the man pressed on.
"You don't need to wear such fancy fakes to work as a waiter. Just wear your usual clothes."
In the eyes of this obnoxious man, Yang Wei had somehow been demoted to a waiter, serving drinks and catering to others.
Indeed, in this man's view, a place like this was no spot for a "poor guy" like Yang Wei.
"Is there anything else you want?"
Upon hearing Yang Wei's question, the man chuckled again.
"Just the thought of sharing a restroom with a poor guy like you... Tsk tsk tsk, beat it."
Yang Wei, containing his fury at the man's pig-like demeanor, slammed the door behind him as he left.
The man erupted into boisterous laughter at the sight.
"Be gentle with the door! If you break it, selling you wouldn't even cover the cost! Hahahahaha."
In the opulent private room.
As Yang Wei entered, Ye Hua quickly latched onto his arm, her voice dripping with affection.
"Great Hero Yang, you've arrived!"
Yang Wei was resigned to the situation but didn't pull away.
Sunn Li, who had been about to fawn over Yang Wei, froze in place, watching Yang Wei and Ye Hua with a sly grin.
Great Hero Yang?
Role-playing?
Heh...
Yang Wei caught Sunn Li's peculiar look and hastily pulled out a chair for Ye Hua to sit down.
Ye Hua glanced at Yang Wei, who remained standing, and was about to invite him to sit next to her when the door to the private room swung open. The obnoxious fat man barged in, arm in arm with Zhang Lan. Yang Wei eyed them both, a hint of suspicion creeping into his thoughts.
"Why are they here?" he wondered silently. "Could they have entered the wrong room, or...?"
Just then, Zhang Lan and her companion noticed Yang Wei. Their expressions flickered from disbelief to a composed facade in an instant.
