C4 Helped
"Alright, CEO, let's not indulge in these matchmaking games anymore. You're incredibly busy, and if you're interested, I can set something up for you. There's no need to lower yourself by going on blind dates with these people!"
Yang Wei pressed his lips together and responded, "Okay."
Given that Ye Hua had been so accommodating in playing along, he couldn't disappoint her kindness.
"Let's go, CEO."
Before Yang Wei could object, Ye Hua whisked him out of the café and into her limited edition Rolls-Royce, capturing the attention of most of the patrons in the process.
"Is he really that wealthy?"
Yang Rong finally spoke up.
"I don't know..."
Yang Rong's best friend was filled with regret for her earlier words. If she hadn't spoken so hastily, she might have had a chance with Yang Wei. Even if she couldn't be the main partner, she was willing to be the other woman.
Meanwhile, Yang Wei, the subject of their speculation, sat in the passenger seat of the Rolls-Royce, completely bewildered.
"CEO, what brings you here?"
Instead of answering his question, Ye Hua complimented him with a smile, "Nice suit, it fits you well."
"…"
"Don't worry about it. I was just having coffee when I saw you, so I decided to check in. I hope my actions earlier didn't embarrass you?"
Ye Hua conversed as she drove.
"Of course not!" Yang Wei replied, feeling somewhat sheepish.
If he truly had such status, imagine how many people would be envious!
Alas, it was all a façade.
"By the way, your name is Yang Wei, right?"
"Hmm?"
"I reviewed the surveillance footage yesterday and looked you up in the company," Ye Hua explained.
"Yes."
"You left so quickly yesterday, I didn't get a chance to thank you properly."
"It's no big deal, just a minor thing."
Yang Wei really hadn't dwelled on the incident.
"Well, since you put it that way, let's consider yesterday's incident settled. That works out perfectly!"
Ye Hua was referring to her pretending to be Yang Wei's secretary for the day.
"No problem. Also, CEO, just pull over at the next intersection. I can get home on my own."
Sharing the cramped space with the CEO was becoming too much for Yang Wei.
"Why the rush? We've settled yesterday's issue, but there's another favor I need from you."
"Ah?"
Yang Wei wondered, 'What could Ye Hua need that she thinks I'm capable of? She doesn't actually want me to commit a murder, does she?'
"What's on your mind? It's simple. I need you to pretend to be my boyfriend for a few days. I've got too many suitors recently, mostly business partners, and it's tricky to turn them down outright. If you're up for it, this problem becomes much easier to handle!"
Yang Wei got the picture. Ye Hua needed a decoy.
"No way!"
He scoffed at the idea. The caliber of Ye Hua's admirers was leagues above his own. Wasn't he just a grasshopper in the path of a carriage?
If Ye Hua got her way, she'd be rid of her suitors, but he might ruin his future job prospects! How could he agree to such a thing? Clearly, it was out of the question.
"Don't be so quick to say no. You're an employee of the company, after all. Helping your CEO is the right thing to do, isn't it?"
Ye Hua's voice took on a slightly threatening tone.
Yang Wei hadn't expected Ye Hua to resort to such tactics to get him to act as her shield. As he was about to find another excuse to decline, the car abruptly halted.
"What happened?"
Yang Wei looked at Ye Hua, who remained silent.
Following her gaze, he saw that two cars had completely blocked their way, and the rearview mirror showed the same behind them.
They were trapped!
Even Yang Wei could see the gravity of their situation.
"Madam CEO, who have you managed to anger recently?"
Yang Wei asked with a wry smile.
After the failed abduction attempt on Ye Hua yesterday, it seemed her assailants were not giving up. Their determination to target Ye Hua was unwavering.
"How could I possibly know? Those people from yesterday clammed up the moment they got to the police station and wouldn't say a word!"
Yang Wei pulled out his phone to call for help, only to find that there was no signal.
They'd even come prepared with a signal jammer!
"How did I end up in this place?"
Ye Hua was visibly panicked. It was only then that Yang Wei noticed she had inadvertently driven them out of the city and onto a secluded country road!
The road was seldom traveled, making the likelihood of someone coming to their aid incredibly slim.
"How should I know?"
While they were talking in the car, the doors of the vehicles that had stopped Ye Hua swung open.
Each car had one person emerge.
They varied in size—tall, short, heavy, slim—but shared one common trait: they were dressed in night garments akin to those of ancient assassins, with masks concealing their faces.
They appeared far more professional than the bumbling thieves from the day before.
"Stay in the car, I'm going out."
After reassuring Ye Hua, Yang Wei opened the car door and stepped out.
Sitting in the car was like sitting ducks; he figured he might as well take his chances outside. Plus, he was no ordinary man now, and he might just handle these assailants with ease.
The memory of overpowering those men yesterday was fresh in his mind, filling Yang Wei with unwavering confidence in his abilities!
Watching Yang Wei exit the car, Ye Hua's anxiety lessened considerably.
She had witnessed Yang Wei's prowess the day before. With him taking action, she was sure they would make it through this ordeal safely!
"Kid, trying to play the hero? There's no need to rush to your demise."
The assassins encircled Yang Wei but ignored Ye Hua inside the car.
Clearly, they saw no threat in her.
"So, I heard you took out those three nobodies yesterday?"
The previously speaking assassin taunted.
"You don't think we're as inept as they were, do you?"
Yang Wei remained silent, though he indeed thought exactly that.
"Hahaha!"
The assassins burst into laughter.
"Third Brother, why don't you entertain him for a bit?"
The tall, lanky assassin who had spoken first suggested.
A portly assassin, roughly the same height as Yang Wei, stepped forward while the others stepped back to give them room.
"Kid, you ready? Who's going first, you or me?"
This assassin clearly didn't take Yang Wei seriously.
Yang Wei remained silent. In truth, he was already gathering his strength. Though he was no ordinary man, he had never underestimated his opponents.
Given the opportunity to take them down one by one, he certainly wasn't going to pass it up.
With a steely gaze, Yang Wei tapped his left foot on the ground and lunged forward, aiming to take down the hefty assassin before him with a single blow!
"Truly impressive."
