C5 Upgrading

Yang Wei was taken aback. His confident, all-out strike had been effortlessly dodged by the seemingly sluggish Fat Killer in front of him!

He was acutely aware of the speed of his previous attack.

Without any restraint, he had exploded with a velocity that far surpassed that of an average person.

Yet, this very attack was casually evaded.

Fat Killer seemed to dodge without breaking a sweat, even finding the time to mock Yang Wei afterward.

"Is this really all you've got? Quite disappointing, I must say. I was expecting someone formidable, but it seems we hardly needed to band together for this."

The tall, thin assassin nearby spoke with a hint of boredom, as if Yang Wei was a letdown.

Yang Wei turned back, fixing a steely gaze on the Fat Killer.

If all four of these individuals were as skilled as Fat Killer, or even more so, he knew he wouldn't stand a chance.

How could such humans even exist?

He was certain that Fat Killer's physical condition was well above that of an ordinary person; otherwise, how could he possibly have dodged Yang Wei's blow with such a physique?

"He looks like a nobody, unaffiliated and undisciplined in his approach."

Fat Killer commented.

"Oh?"

Seizing the moment while they spoke, Yang Wei charged once more, putting his full force into the attack.

He sprinted and leaped high, aiming his knee at Fat Killer's head.

This was a technique he had picked up online—a modern combat move with lethal potential, capable of killing even when executed by an average person.

Given Yang Wei's physical prowess, the impact would undoubtedly be devastating.

As Yang Wei soared through the air, a gust followed, but the Fat Killer remained unfazed, the hint of a smile still playing at the corner of his mouth, the epitome of composure.

Watching Fat Killer stand motionless, Yang Wei felt a surge of triumph. He was sure his knee would connect. As long as these men were mortal, they couldn't possibly withstand his strike.

He was confident that even steel would bend under the force of his knee strike!

As Yang Wei's knee neared within half a foot of Fat Killer's face, the assassin deftly squatted down. His speed was astonishing, far surpassing Yang Wei's expectations.

Before Yang Wei's knee could connect with Fat Killer's head, the assassin had already dropped into a squat.

But that wasn't all. After squatting, Fat Killer reached up and effortlessly grabbed Yang Wei's right leg.

Yang Wei, still surging forward, felt his leg seized. He continued his forward momentum until he sensed his body being yanked.

Incredibly, Fat Killer had managed to grab Yang Wei, despite his considerable kinetic energy!

After spinning around with Yang Wei's leg in his grasp, Fat Killer hurled him with tremendous force!

Yang Wei was sent flying into a roadside tree!

The tree snapped under the impact, clearly illustrating the disparity in their strength.

Inside the car, Ye Hua was petrified. She couldn't believe that Yang Wei, who seemed superhuman to her, had been so easily overpowered.

What kind of person had she crossed?

Cough, cough!

Yang Wei, who had hit the ground hard, coughed twice, blood clots coming up with each cough.

He was actually coughing up blood!

Struggling to his feet, Yang Wei felt as though all his internal organs had been struck hard, his whole body aching with pain.

Fat Killer continued his slow approach.

Desperation setting in, Yang Wei suddenly remembered he could enter another world today!

Without a moment's hesitation, he activated a thought, and the world around him began to spin.

Despite not being new to the sensation, Yang Wei still felt somewhat nauseated.

The scene shifted, and Yang Wei found himself in the Cultivation World.

The landscape was a barren desert, unchanged from his last visit.

A message popped into his mind:

"You can leave the Game World at any time, but you must not exceed a three-day absence."

He exhaled deeply, assessing his physical state.

Not a trace of pain remained.

It appeared that this world and the other shared only life, not physical form.

Yang Wei confirmed this theory.

Even though time in the Real World was at a standstill, a slight anxiety lingered in Yang Wei's heart.

At that moment, it was inevitable; his true self was still in that place. He let go of the thought preoccupying his mind and surveyed the yellow earth before him. How was he supposed to level up without any quests? If his memory served him right, he needed one hundred experience points to advance from level one to level two. He opened the interface to double-check this information.

If this world shared similarities with the Game World, then there were essentially two ways to level up: completing quests given by NPCs to earn Experience Value or defeating monsters. In this barren world devoid of even a hint of green, Yang Wei had little hope of encountering any NPCs. Thus, the only option available to him was to fight monsters to gain levels.

The Mountain Piercing Beast he had previously slain counted as a monster, didn't it? It was slow and seemingly easy to defeat. Even if the Experience Value was minimal, it was of no consequence; he could simply invest more time.

With his plan set, Yang Wei began his search for the Mountain Piercing Beast he had encountered before. After trekking for over ten minutes through the desert, the only thing he could spot were the withered cacti. How was he supposed to find anything in this wasteland? He might as well perish in the desert before finding another creature.

Resigned, Yang Wei sat down and plunged the Black Bone Sword into the sand. Suddenly, the still surface of the sand began to stir. He quickly moved to a safe distance, feeling a surge of unexpected joy. It seemed his unintentional action had yielded results; he recalled the same disturbance when the Mountain Piercing Beast had previously emerged.

As expected, five or six Mountain Piercing Beasts clawed their way out of the sand and charged at Yang Wei. He was undaunted by these sluggish beings. Weaving and dodging, he dispatched each Mountain Piercing Beast one by one, following the same method he had initially used.

Yang Wei's interface updated to reflect the change:

Name: Yang Wei

Level: 2 (80/200)

Late Stage of Body Refining

...

Each Mountain Piercing Beast granted Yang Wei thirty experience points. With all the beasts defeated, his strength had reached the late stage of Body Refining, and he had successfully completed the day's mandatory mission.

Feeling a surge of energy coursing through his body, Yang Wei was brimming with confidence. His physical condition had improved at least twofold compared to before. Those adversaries were certainly no match for him now.

"Return!"

Yang Wei silently commanded in his mind.

In an instant, he was back in the Real World, still supporting himself on the broken tree with one hand.

With the renewed sense of his own potent energy, Yang Wei couldn't help but smile. His previous injuries had healed as well. It appeared that leveling up had the added benefit of mending physical wounds.

"Still laughing? You should be crying!"

The Fat Killer taunted.

Yang Wei didn't bother with a retort; he launched into action with full force. This time, the Fat Killer wasn't so fortunate.

His pupils dilated in shock as Yang Wei vanished from sight, only to reappear right in front of him, plunging him into darkness.

Yang Wei showed no mercy, landing a solid punch square on the Fat Killer's face.

The hefty assassin was sent flying, rolling several times on the ground due to his weight.

The other assassins responded with swift precision, rushing to check on the Fat Killer's condition, visibly shaken.

They all knew too well that their abilities were similar, each with their own specialties. If the Fat Killer, the quickest among them, couldn't dodge Yang Wei's strike, they doubted their own chances would be any better.

Without a moment's hesitation, they hoisted the Fat Killer and swiftly vacated the scene.

Yang Wei attempted to pursue them, but they seemed to possess agility akin to lightness techniques, vanishing from Yang Wei's sight in just a few swift movements.
