C16 Sand Wolves

This warehouse served as the main storage room for the entire Weiyang Camp. Everything they found outside or created would be stored in this exact location.

In a way, it could otherwise be known as the foundation of the Weiyang camp. If it were to be destroyed, the entire camp would certainly fall into shambles.

Every month, the commander would distribute supplies from the warehouse — as well as Beast Cores that acted as the main currency — for each person living in the camp.

Though the warehouse may slightly worn, it was nevertheless spacious and divided into different sections.

Walking into the warehouse, Han Dong proceeded to lead both Chu Lin and Yu Zhen to the "Battle Preparations" section.

In the midst of that section, a large mechanical crate stood two meters tall.

"Yu Zhen, although your gene chain is incomplete, I don't have any extra Gene Drugs to give you. On the other hand, I requested a weapon from Central Royal City that would be compatible with your gene ability.

After Han Dong entered a string of passwords into the mechanical crate, the carrier slowly opened as a shroud of mist dispersed from within — revealing the equipment inside.

"As for whether or not you can control the weapon, it all depends on you."

Upon seeing this "weapon", not only was Yu Zhen shocked, but even Chu Lin widened his eyes in suprise.

Instead of calling it a "weapon," perhaps it would be more suitable to describe it as some sort of "armor."

Indeed, a set of grand yet sturdy armor was meticulously placed inside the mechanical crate.

"Awakened Practitioner Armor!"

Yu Zhen exclaimed.

Analyzing the crisp black armor, Chu Lin could not help but ask more about regarding its design.

Thus, Han Dong gave Chu Lin a simple explanation.

This set of armor was specifically created for Awakened Practitioners who possessed special gene abilities but were still unable to unleash their full potential.

From the perspectives of truly powerful Awakened Practitioners, they truly abhorred and looked down on these types of "supplementary" armor.

For someone such as Yu Zhen, on the other hand, this set of armor would surely be of great use to him — similar to giving wings to a tiger.

With the armor's assistance he would no longer have to remain as a cripple who could only wait helplessly in the camp. Instead he could finally return back to the battlefield.

After listening to Han Dong's explanation, Chu Lin finally understood the specfic uses of the armor.

While the grand armor may look more enticing, it was nevertheless inferior to the Gene Drugs that could directly enhance one's gene chain.

Furthermore, there were several limitations to the armor itself.

Placing himself into the armor from his wheelchair, Yu Zhen verified his identity and started up the device powering the armor.

"While this armor can greatly increase your gene abilities, you should still pay attention to its consumption of Gene Energy as it will increase by several folds depending on how much energy your ability consumes. Now, try it out yourself."

Han Dong said to Yu Zhen.

Yu Zhen nodded as a hint of gray light flashed before his eyes.

Standing at the side, Chu Lin was caught off guard by the tremendous pressure weighing him down and almost fell on his knees.

Compared to when Yu Zhen first used his ability, the gravitational effect was definitely several times stronger now.

Han Dong, on the contrary, did not move a single inch under the sudden change in gravity as even his expression remained unfazed.

How strong could the commander be?

After adjusting his strength and adapting to the gravitational field, Chu Lin thought to himself as he stared at Han Dong in admiration.

After a few minutes, the gravitational field that was pressing on Chu Lin suddenly vanished.

Panting heavily inside the armor, Yu Zhen seemed to have used up all of his strength.

As Hand Dong stated previously, the improvements in one's gene ability after wearing the armor naturally led to the increase in consumption of Gene Energy.

"It just so happens that the new batch of recruits would benefit from training under the effects of your gravitational field. Not only that, but it would also allow you to learn more about your gene ability."

Han Dong said to Yu Zhen after thinking for a while.

"Thank you, Commander!"

Despite his fatigue, Yu Zhen could not help but reveal an expression of joy.

Early morning on the next day, Yu Zhen appeared on the Weiyang's morning practice grounds with his set of black armor.

The stylish black armor — emitting a mysterious aura — attracted the attention of the new recruits who had participated in the training.

Chu Lin had also arrived at the field early.

He wanted to take this opportunity to familiarize himself with his own strength and abilities.

Having relied on brute force to fight up till now, Chu Lin realized it would eventually serve as his shortcoming if he continued to fight without any sort of technique.

Chu Lin believed, if he could learn to use his strength skillfully, that he could unlock his new potential and improve his overall abilities drastically.

"I'll will be giving you lot a special training session today. You also won't be needing to carry any of those weights anymore."

Yu Zhen said to the recruits participating in the training.

When the new recruits heard that they didn't need to use heavy training, they immediately burst into cheers.

With their current physical abilities, what was the difference between that and playing around normally if they were to train without wearing any heavy weights on their bodies.

After Yu Zhen activated [Gravity Field], however, the recruits screeched in horror as they finally understood the true meaning of hell.

With Yu Zhen's gravitational field enhanced by his armor, even Chu Lin had been taken by surprise and almost fell flat to the ground yesterday, let alone the ordinary recruits.

*Plop! Thump!*

Once [Gravity Field] was activated, the recruits plopped face-first into the ground like lumps of slime. Now stuck onto the ground unable to move, they were now at the mercy of Yu Zhen.

Unlike the previous day, Chu Lin was well-prepared for the sudden change in gravity. Taking advantage of the effects of [Gravity Field], he switched into a fighting stance and began performing a set of fist techniques.

This technique was just the most basic of all fist techniques that even new recruits could execute skillfully.

However, performing those fist techniques under the pressure of such gravity is certainly not an easy feat. Thus, all the recruits — still stuck to the ground — looked at him like some sort of monster.

"What kind of demonic training is this? I can't even lift my fingers."

"It feels like I'm carrying a large mountain on my back. Dear god... I want my heavy weights back instead!"

"What kind of monster is he? How can he still practice the fist techniques under such conditions...?"

Though the recruits were unable to move, they still managed to squeeze out a few words from the gaps between their teeth.

Despite their desperate attempts to resist Yu Chen's terrifying gravitational force, none of them managed to succeed.

Without exception, all of them failed the training.

Even though Chu Lin possessed a lot of stamina and strength, he noticed the restrain in his movements when practicing in the gravitational field.

While he was practicing his fist techniques, Chu Lin activated [Strength-From-Distress] and absorbed the negative emotions emanating from the recruits.

With each passing day, Chu Lin would continue practicing the fist techniques under Yu Zhen's gravitational field.

In just a few days, Chu Lin had already mastered the set of basic fist techniques and even adapted to the gravitational field.

When Chu Lin was training on one morning, however, he was suddenly alarmed by the ear-piercing sirens around the camp.

At that moment, everyone in the camp was shocked.

Those sirens sounded by the detection tower indicated the presence of enemies approaching their camp.

Without any hesitation, Chu Lin ran towards the camp's gate.

In a mere few minutes, their whole camp immediately fell into a state of readiness.

Apart from Tie Niu who was currently out on a mission, all the other Awakened Practitioners — including Yu Zhen — rushed to the main gate of Weiyang.

Arriving at the main gate, everyone noticed that a large group of people slowly appearing in a certain distance from the campsite.

The group of people in that unit numbered up to several hundred troops, nearly half the number of people in Weiyang.

Several of those troops raised a flag with the head of a fierce-looking yellow wolf on it.

Sand Wolves…

Upon seeing the symbol on the flag, Chu Lin was reminded of the team of Sand Wolves that he slaughtered earlier in his first mission.

Chu Lin frowned slightly. No matter how much he tried to recall, he could not remember leaving anyone alive or any signs that indicated his presence behind. Thus, why would the troops from the Sand Wolves suddenly show their faces here?

Furthermore, it would take more than a whole day to travel to Weiyang from their camp.

"The Commander of the Sand Wolves, Yuan Liang, has graced all of you with his presence. Why aren't you opening the gate and welcoming him?"

A loud voice sounded from afar.
