C13 Yun Ya
In Shen Siyu's room at the First People's Hospital of Harlos, she had just completed her treatment and was looking remarkably vibrant, her cheeks flushed with health. She was already dressed and seated on the edge of the bed, her gaze fixed on Yun Chen with intense curiosity, as if he were some exotic creature she had never encountered before.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" Yun Chen asked, feeling a bit awkward under the weight of her stare. He cleared his throat, trying to cover his discomfort.
"Just thinking, Mr. Yun, you've gotten even more handsome!" Siyu replied with a mischievous grin, watching his uneasy reaction.
Usually, Yun Chen would be over the moon with such a compliment, but coming from Siyu, it was a different story. Despite her innocent, girl-next-door demeanor, she was quite the trickster. Yun Chen had fallen for her pranks more than once.
So when Siyu complimented his looks, Yun Chen was immediately suspicious. "Listen here, young lady, don't start getting any funny ideas!" he warned her. "And remember, not a word about today's events to anyone, got it?"
"I got it," Siyu replied, her mouth twisting into a pout of boredom at his cautious tone.
"Good to hear," Yun Chen said, satisfied with her response.
"By the way, Mr. Yun, were you serious about what you said earlier, when you confessed to me?" Siyu asked suddenly. "Although, I have to say, your confession was pretty terrible. Those lines were just so cheesy!"
Yun Chen's mouth twitched into a grimace that was more of a grimace than a smile. "You must have misunderstood because you were still a bit out of it," he suggested.
"Oh, so I heard wrong then?" Siyu nodded playfully, pretending to accept his explanation.
But inside, Yun Chen was on high alert. He knew Siyu all too well, just as she knew him. She was not someone who could be easily fooled, and he knew he had to tread carefully.
Indeed...
"Mr. Yun, you've just seen all of me. Don't you think you should take responsibility?"
Siyu lowered her head, her voice taking on a flirtatious tone, reminiscent of a bride-to-be.
Yun Chen: " @#¥# …"
...
As Yun Chen was on the verge of losing his composure, a stunning woman in her mid-twenties leaned against the wall outside the hospital room. She was vigorously patting her ample chest, her expression one of sheer disbelief.
"The Energy-Guided Needle Technique! It's definitely the Energy-Guided Needle Technique! My goodness! How can someone in this world know the Energy-Guided Needle Technique?"
"And a young man who appears to be only seventeen or eighteen years old?"
Yun Ya murmured, hardly able to believe it.
As a scion of a traditional medical family, Yun Ya, at just twenty-five, had already achieved remarkable proficiency in medicine, earning numerous awards in the medical field.
Of course, these accolades were well-deserved by Yun Ya!
After all, she was the heir to the Yun family!
What? You haven't heard of the Yun family? Surely, you must know of the Three-Needle of the Ghost Doctor, right?
Yes, the Three-Needle of the Ghost Doctor is the hallmark of the Yun family!
The Yun family's status as a traditional medical family stems from their possession of a secret manual known as the Three-Needle of the Ghost Doctor!
This very manual has enabled the Yun family to maintain their prestigious reputation for centuries.
Within the Yun family, the Three-Needle of the Ghost Doctor is categorized into three levels.
The first level is known as the Acupuncture of the Ground, capable of treating many minor ailments, such as the common cold.
The second level is the Acupuncture of Strength, effective against more persistent illnesses, like cervical spondylosis.
The third level, the Acupuncture of the Divine, is truly formidable! It not only has the potential to cure terminal illnesses but can also extend the lifespan of those who master it!
Yun Ya has reached the second level of the Three-Needle of the Ghost Doctor — the Acupuncture of Strength.
Yet, even with just this second level, Yun Ya has already made a name for herself in the realm of medicine.
The enigmatic third realm was a mastery held solely by her grandfather, Yun Changfeng, the current sect master of the Yun family. His command of this realm was the foundation of the Yun family's formidable influence, commanding respect and fear from all quarters.
Yun Ya had accidentally witnessed Yun Chen employing the Energy-Guided Needle Technique, something she had only heard about in her grandfather's tales. Yun Changfeng had described it as the most enigmatic level of the Three-Needle of the Ghost Doctor, attainable only when one's practice reached its pinnacle. However, he had emphasized that such an achievement was a mere possibility, not a certainty.
Despite years of dedication to the Three-Needle of the Ghost Doctor, Yun Changfeng had never once encountered the Energy-Guided Needle Technique, leading Shen Siyu to doubt its very existence. Yet, the unexpected sight Yun Ya beheld today shattered her skepticism and filled her with an overwhelming sense of defeat. Yun Chen's youthful demeanor was startling; her grandfather had toiled for decades to barely enter the third realm of the Three-Needle of the Ghost Doctor—the Divine Needle—never coming close to the legendary Energy-Guided Needle Technique. And now, here stood a teenager, no more than seventeen or eighteen, adept in the very technique that had eluded her grandfather.
The shock was palpable. "I must inform Grandfather," she resolved.
With a lingering gaze that sought to etch Yun Chen's features into her memory, Yun Ya turned and departed. She had her reasons for not approaching him directly. For one, she was a stranger to Yun Chen, and any brash approach might not only fail to yield information but also risk alerting him. Moreover, Yun Ya was aware that a youth with such prowess likely hailed from a notable lineage. To offend him could bring repercussions her own family might struggle to withstand.
It would be wise to commit Yun Chen's features to memory now and have someone thoroughly investigate his background before making any decisions.
After all, for Yun Chen to have mastered the Energy-Guided Needle Technique at such a young age, Yun Ya was convinced that he must have been guided by a master teacher.
Unbeknownst to Yun Chen, his display of the High Level Medical Technique had been witnessed by a stunning doctor.
At the time, his spiritual energy was entirely focused on Shen Siyu, leaving him oblivious to anyone else's presence.
Luckily, it was a beautiful doctor who caught him in the act. Had it been some sleazy old man, and had Yun Chen found out, he would have been utterly dismayed!
Especially since Shen Siyu was only in her underwear, with the rest of her body exposed.
As for Yun Ya seeing him perform the Energy-Guided Needle Technique, Yun Chen wouldn't be overly concerned if he knew.
In his view, the Energy-Guided Needle Technique was just one of the many common methods recorded in the annals of High Level Medical Technique.
Why would he resort to such a mundane method if he possessed internal energy?
Yun Ya would be astounded to learn that what she regarded as a legendary skill was, to Yun Chen, nothing out of the ordinary.
...
Shortly after Yun Ya departed, Shen Yuanhong and Yun Tianxiong returned to the entrance of the hospital's inpatient wing.
Shen Yuanhong's brow was furrowed with distress.
Yun Tianxiong tried to offer comfort, but his own face betrayed a deep-seated concern.
"Old Shen, relax. We've known each other for many years. I'll make sure we get through this tough time!"
"Besides, I've always seen Siyu as my own daughter."
"I will leave no stone unturned in finding a cure for my girl," Yun Tianxiong declared, clapping Shen Yuanhong on the shoulder.
"Ah, Old Yun, you think I don't know you by now?"
"I'm already deeply grateful for your support in my time of need."
"However, the cost of fully curing Siyu's illness is beyond what we can even fathom!"
"Besides, I know times are tough for your family too. I can't be so selfish as to burden you with my problems!"
"If it comes to it, I'll sell the house tomorrow! We need to gather enough for Siyu's initial treatment costs first!"
"We'll worry about the later treatment expenses when the time comes."
"I've already lost Siyu's mother; I absolutely cannot bear to lose my daughter too!"
Shen Yuanhong gave Yun Tianxiong a look of deep gratitude, then let out a heavy sigh.
He was profoundly thankful that his old friend had stepped in to help him in his hour of need.
Yet, he couldn't fully accept Yun Tianxiong's assistance!
After all, Yun Tianxiong had his own family to care for, his own loved ones to provide for.
If Yun Tianxiong's family suffered financially because of his help, Shen Yuanhong would never forgive himself.
Upon hearing Shen Yuanhong's refusal, Yun Tianxiong remained silent. He understood his old friend all too well—unfailingly honest and loyal, and unwilling to be a burden to anyone.
If he persisted, it would only lead to unhappiness.
So, with a sigh, Yun Tianxiong said, "Well, we should focus on getting Siyu transferred to another hospital first. Her condition can't wait any longer."
"Right."
Shen Yuanhong nodded, and together with Yun Tianxiong, he took the elevator. Soon, they arrived outside Siyu's hospital room.
But something seemed off as soon as they reached the door.
The entire hospital corridor was echoing with the sound of fire truck sirens and the noise of a busy crowd.
Yet from inside the room came a sound of clear, joyous laughter—a laugh they both recognized all too well.
"Siyu?"
Shen Yuanhong and Yun Tianxiong's eyes widened in surprise, and they called out her name in unison.
Then they pushed open the ward door and stepped inside, only to be greeted by a sight that left them utterly astonished.
