C14 Goldhaired Man and Blackclothed Man
"Hehehe..."
Shen Siyu hadn't laughed so joyfully in the hospital ward for a very long time.
Especially when she caught sight of Yun Chen's unmistakable embarrassment, her spirits soared.
Perhaps having narrowly escaped death's clutches, Siyu realized her entire outlook had transformed.
Previously, despite being adored by many for her beauty, she was well aware of her indifference towards her admirers, even feeling a profound irritation.
This was because she harbored a secret in her heart, a secret named Yun Chen.
Siyu couldn't pinpoint when her fondness for Yun Chen began.
Initially, the feeling was subtle; she simply felt a strong attachment to him, always eager to share her thoughts with Yun.
Yun, in turn, would listen with unwavering patience, never showing the slightest hint of irritation.
This touched Siyu deeply, and she found herself increasingly drawn to him.
To onlookers, it seemed like the typical adoration a younger sister has for her older brother.
But Siyu knew her feelings for Yun had evolved beyond fraternal affection to something much deeper—romantic love.
Yet, even with this realization, Siyu hadn't contemplated her next steps.
That is until Yun mentioned he had someone he liked, sending Siyu's heart into turmoil.
A paralyzing fear took hold, a fear that still frightened her upon recollection.
It wasn't until Yun's unexpectedly cheesy confession and his miraculous cure for her leukemia that Siyu's mindset shifted entirely.
She recognized her past overcautiousness had nearly led to a lifetime of regret.
Now, with a brighter future ahead, Siyu resolved to live without regrets.
Watching Yun's flustered demeanor, a sly twinkle appeared in Siyu's eyes. She rose to her feet and began to close the distance between them.
Meanwhile, Yun was feeling overwhelmed.
He was extremely uncomfortable with the day's events.
Siyu's behavior had taken a peculiar turn—first her odd choice of words, and now her bizarre actions.
Yun certainly didn't consider being cornered by Siyu, unable to move, as anything close to normal.
"Can you please stop fooling around? Uncle Shen and my dad will be back any minute," Yun Chen pleaded, gazing at the charming face so close to his own.
But Shen Siyu seemed oblivious to Yun Chen's words, her eyes, clear as autumn waters, fixed unwaveringly on him.
"Mr. Yun, I have a secret to tell you..." Shen Siyu suddenly spoke up.
Yun Chen, taken aback, was at a loss for words. He was about to inquire about the secret when the unexpected happened!
After her words, Shen Siyu's face swiftly closed the distance between them, and she planted a kiss right on Yun Chen's lips.
Yun Chen was frozen in shock.
The gentle sensation on his lips was unmistakable, and the lovely visage before him was without a doubt Shen Siyu.
But why on earth was he the recipient of a forceful kiss? And from Shen Siyu, no less, whom he had always treated like a sister since childhood.
Isn't this something a boy is usually expected to do? What's going on with a girl initiating such a kiss?
Reacting, Yun Chen pushed Shen Siyu away and firmly grasped her arm.
"Your pulse is normal! How could you be having mental issues that make you act so uncontrollably?"
"This is utterly bizarre!"
Yun Chen murmured to himself.
He then checked Shen Siyu's forehead for a fever, only to find she was cool to the touch.
Siyu's eyes were wide as she stared at Yun Chen, her beautiful face a mix of amusement and frustration.
She now realized why Yun Chen was still single at eighteen.
Could he be any more oblivious?
Siyu felt frustrated and deflated, her hard-won courage dissipated by Yun Chen's cluelessness.
"Cough, cough!"
Just as Siyu was about to give Yun Chen a piece of her mind, calling him out for his insensitivity, a series of coughs echoed from the doorway.
Both Siyu and Yun Chen turned their attention to the ward's entrance.
Entering were Shen Yuanhong and Yun Tianxiong!
Shen Yuanhong, however, wore a peculiar look, as if he had just misplaced something precious.
Yun Tianxiong's face flushed with the excitement of someone who had just discovered a treasure.
"Ah!"
The first to snap out of the surprise was Shen Siyu, who suddenly lunged toward the hospital bed, burying her head like an ostrich.
Yun Chen was utterly bewildered. He was the one who had been kissed unexpectedly, so why was Siyu acting so bashful?
Shouldn't he be the one feeling shy?
As Shen Siyu kept her head tucked into the bed, unwilling to emerge, Shen Yuanhong couldn't contain himself any longer. He fixed a meaningful gaze on Yun Chen and advised earnestly, "Chen, remember you're still students. Your education should be your top priority."
Yun Chen was at a loss for words, finding Mr. Shen's reaction rather odd.
Yun Tianxiong, Yun Chen's father, approached Shen Yuanhong and gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder, echoing the sentiment, "Old Shen, surely now you can't turn down my goodwill, can you?"
Shen Yuanhong's mouth twitched at the comment, glancing between Yun Chen and Yun Tianxiong, finding himself at a loss for words.
However, it wasn't long before something dawned on Shen Yuanhong and Yun Tianxiong. Their attention shifted back to Shen Siyu, their eyes widening in shock as they exclaimed in unison, "Siyu, you're okay??"
They had been so taken aback by the interaction between Yun Chen and Shen Siyu that they had completely overlooked Siyu's health.
Now, they suddenly realized that Siyu was not only out of bed but also comfortably displaying affection with Yun Chen. This was the girl who, until very recently, had been on the hospital's critical notice list!
Thus, both Shen Yuanhong and Yun Tianxiong were struck by a sense of wonder.
Hearing her father and Mr. Yun's calls, Shen Siyu stopped her ostrich act. She climbed out of bed, twirled around before them, and with a radiant smile, she announced, "Yes! I'm completely fine now!"
"I feel absolutely wonderful!" she added, casting a sly glance at the still-baffled Yun Chen.
"This..."
Shen Yuanhong and Yun Tianxiong vigorously rubbed their eyes. Once they were certain of Shen Siyu's excellent condition, they finally lowered their hands.
"Mr. Yun, what's your take on this situation?" Shen Yuanhong nudged Yun Tianxiong's shoulder, his expression one of total bewilderment.
"I don't know either," Yun Tianxiong admitted, equally perplexed.
Both men then simultaneously turned their gaze back to Yun Chen.
"Son, you were the only one with Siyu just now. Do you have any idea what happened?" Yun Tianxiong inquired.
Shen Yuanhong chimed in, "Exactly, Chen. What exactly took place? Why is Siyu..."
Yun Chen, unfazed by the interrogation from his father and Mr. Shen, confidently presented his rehearsed explanation, "I'm just as clueless! After you two went to find a car, I stayed with Siyu and cracked a few jokes."
"She cheered up after that, and well... that's it."
Yun Chen's simplistic account bewildered the two men.
On the sidelines, Shen Siyu was struggling to suppress her giggles, finding Mr. Yun's earnest fibbing endearing.
However, it was clear that neither Mr. Shen nor she was convinced.
"Could the hospital have made a misdiagnosis?" Mr. Shen wondered aloud.
Yun Tianxiong nodded in agreement, considering it the only plausible explanation for the current situation.
"We should take Siyu to a different hospital for another checkup, just to be sure," Mr. Shen suggested after some thought.
"Indeed, it's the best course of action," Yun Tianxiong concurred.
"Though, judging by Siyu's current condition, it seems unlikely there's anything wrong."
"So, all things considered, this is good news!"
Yun Tianxiong nodded in affirmation.
"Alright, let's get going now!" Yun Chen said, relieved that his secret was still safe.
...
As Yun Chen and the others were preparing to transfer Shen Siyu for a reevaluation, a scene unfolded in a high-rise building a kilometer from Harlos's First People's Hospital.
A blond man, peering through a telescope, was surveying the hospital's vicinity.
Suddenly, a figure cloaked in a black night cloak materialized silently behind the blond observer.
The man in black suddenly dropped to one knee and said with reverence, "Sir, what are your commands?"
There was a brief silence before the blond man slowly lowered his binoculars, turned, and revealed a distinctly Western visage.
"The chip implanted in Zhang Badao's body has stopped transmitting. It's likely he's dead."
"I suspect he was killed by another faction."
The blond man spoke again after a pause.
His voice was chillingly cold, reminiscent of an emotionless robot, sending a shiver down the spine.
The man in black remained silent on the ground, motionless.
For him, his only duty was to listen to the blond man.
The blond man seemed unfazed by the silence.
He spoke once more, "The details of this drug shipment have likely been compromised..."
As he uttered 'compromised', the blond man's eyes narrowed sharply, and a fearsome presence radiated from him.
Feeling the dread emanating from the blond man, the man in black involuntarily trembled but managed to maintain his kneeling stance.
"Use whatever means necessary, but find me the killer of Zhang Badao within a week!"
After a glance at the wavering figure of the man in black, the blond man finally contained his intimidating aura and spoke with a detached tone.
Upon hearing the blond man's directive, the man in black swiftly rose, turned, and vanished into the shadows.
Watching the spot where the man in black had disappeared, a cruel smile crept onto the blond man's face.
"Anyone who poses a threat to the organization must be eradicated!"
