C19 Something in the Water!

In the afternoon, Yun Chen's entire class had convened at the Celestial Dragon Mountain's Drifting site.

This time, Wang Dadao was the center of attention, a departure from the norm.

Wang Dadao's recent display of wealth had clued everyone in on his extraordinary family background.

Currently, several class leaders, who usually carried themselves with an air of superiority, were eagerly cozying up to Wang Dadao, their smiles as radiant as chrysanthemums.

Wang Dadao, on the other hand, handled the situation effortlessly, showing none of his usual reticence.

Yun Chen observed this and sighed internally.

He understood why Wang Dadao had suddenly decided to flaunt his family's affluence.

The catalyst was none other than Wang Dadao's father, Wang Xiaodao.

Yes, Wang Dadao's father was indeed named Wang Xiaodao!

Yun Chen had nearly choked when he first heard the name, but it was the truth.

Wang Dadao explained that with high school ending and his grades falling short, he had little chance of attending a prestigious university.

Thus, his father was ready for him to inherit the family business.

Wang Xiaodao tasked his son with mastering the management of an antique shop within a year.

Failure to do so would result in the severance of all financial support, and Wang Dadao would be sent abroad for further education.

The thought of losing his financial lifeline was unbearable for Wang Dadao.

Despite his low profile at school, his lifestyle outside was beyond the imagination of the average person.

For the sake of his comfortable life, Wang Dadao reluctantly acquiesced.

He began shadowing his father, absorbing knowledge about antiques.

Just a few days prior, to assess Wang Dadao's learning over the upcoming year, Wang Xiaodao had invested heavily in setting up an antique company for his son to manage post-graduation.

However, Wang Xiaodao imposed a harsh and unforgiving condition: Wang Dadao was prohibited from hiring experienced staff from the market and was instead required to employ his friends, classmates, and the like.

The decision was given a noble title: it was meant to give Wang Dadao the experience of building a business from the ground up.

Wang Dadao was at a loss for words, overwhelmed by a sense of resignation. His attention turned to the class officers.

Wang Dadao believed that despite their arrogance, the class officers' capabilities were beyond doubt.

He had flaunted his family's wealth to attract these officers, hoping to win them over so they might one day join his company.

In a private moment, Wang Dadao confided in Yun Chen, promising him a position in his company whenever he was ready to take it.

Yun Chen was moved by the offer but declined.

He knew that ever since he acquired the system, his life was never meant to be ordinary.

Watching the class officers joke and chat, Yun Chen sighed internally and chided himself, "If I hadn't received the system, perhaps I would have taken Wang Dadao up on his offer."

But Yun Chen's acquisition of the system was a reality, and his life was far from ordinary.

Just then, Wang Dadao announced loudly, "After we finish drifting, I'll throw a bonfire party tonight and treat everyone to a barbecue!"

"And I'll cover all the costs!"

His announcement was met with another round of cheers.

"Hey, Little Yun, what do you think of my display? Impressive, isn't it?"

Amidst the cheers, Wang Dadao approached Yun Chen with a sleazy grin and asked with a chuckle.

Yun Chen remained silent. No amount of posturing could mask Wang Dadao's inherent sleaziness.

Disinterested, Yun Chen donned his life jacket, ready to set out for the drifting adventure.

After all, it was Wang Dadao's treat, and it would be foolish not to take advantage of the fun.

Suddenly, a piercing scream rang out from a distance:

"Ah! Help!"

"Someone is drowning!"

Panic ensued as everyone rushed toward the source of the desperate cries.

Yun Chen's expression turned serious, and he swiftly activated the Wind Escaping Technique, darting forward like an arrow.

"Holy shit! When did Yun Chen start running so fast?"

Wang Dadao, trailing behind, couldn't help but rub his eyes in disbelief as he watched Yun Chen vanish from his sight.

He then hurriedly pursued him.

Unbeknownst to Yun Chen, Wang Dadao had witnessed the terrifying speed he achieved using the Wind Escaping Technique.

At that moment, Yun Chen was frantic with urgency.

The cry for help he had just heard was all too familiar—it was Shen Siyu's voice!

"Why is she here?" The thought flashed through Yun Chen's mind as he sprinted.

With this on his mind, Yun Chen's pace quickened even more.

Empowered by the Wind Escaping Technique, Yun Chen's speed was astonishing. It wasn't long before he reached the source of the voice.

Upon arrival, Yun Chen saw Shen Siyu standing on a large rock, her face pale as she shouted for help.

Before her was a pool, and in it, a figure was desperately flailing.

Yun Chen approached Shen Siyu and asked, "What are you doing here? What's going on?"

Seeing Yun Chen, Shen Siyu clung to his arm as if he were her lifeline, her voice filled with urgency, "Chuxia is in the water. She accidentally fell in!"

"Mr. Yun, please, you have to think of something to save Chuxia!"

Hearing that it was Lin Chuxia struggling in the water, Yun Chen's alarm skyrocketed.

Nothing could happen to Lin Chuxia! If something did, what would become of his system mission? (Yes, even in this crisis, he was worried about his system mission! No wonder he's been single for years...)

With that thought, Yun Chen quickly scanned the pond, searching for Lin Chuxia.

But as soon as he spotted her, his brow furrowed deeply.

"This isn't right! She's not just drowning; something is pulling on Lin Chuxia!"

"There's something in the water!"

The thought flashed through Yun Chen's mind, his expression turning grave.

Without a moment's hesitation, he bellowed inwardly, "Celestial Eye Technique, activate!"

A flash of golden light suddenly sparked deep within Yun Chen's eyes, transforming into a golden rune that etched itself into his pupils.

The world through Yun Chen's eyes transformed; everywhere he looked shimmered with golden light, yet it was crystal clear.

As his gaze shifted to the pond, the water appeared to become a transparent barrier, revealing the bottom with startling clarity.

It was then that Yun Chen finally saw what was pulling Lin Chuxia under the water!

A hand, ghastly pale and deathly white!

It was gripping Lin Chuxia's ankle tightly, desperately dragging her down into the depths of the pond!

"Water Ghost?"

The term flashed through Yun Chen's mind.

"No wonder! Only a Water Ghost would dare to harm people in broad daylight!"

"But now that you've encountered me, you won't be harming anyone else ever again!"

Yun Chen hadn't expected the Tao Arts of the Three Pure Deities he had recently acquired to come in handy so soon. He smirked to himself, feeling a sense of satisfaction.

Ignoring Shen Siyu's presence, Yun Chen reached into his pocket, feigning a search for something. In reality, his thoughts had already delved into his spatial ring, and in an instant, two blank Yellow Talismans materialized in his hand.

Shen Siyu was on the verge of tears, frantic as she saw Yun Chen not searching for a stick to rescue Lin Chuxia but instead pulling out two pieces of yellow paper. She cried out in desperation,

"Mr. Yun, please find something to save Chuxia!"

"What are you doing with those Yellow Talismans?"

Yun Chen, however, paid no heed to Shen Siyu's cries. He brought his right hand to his mouth and bit down hard on his middle finger.

Blood flowed freely as he bore the pain, using his bloodied finger to draw swiftly and skillfully on the talisman paper.

Biting the middle finger to draw a talisman was actually the most basic technique recorded in the Tao Arts of the Three Pure Deities. There were more advanced methods, such as using a brush, imprinting with magical power, and even Drawing Talisman in the Void using air as a template and magic as a medium.

But Yun Chen had chosen the simplest method, aware that a crowd of students was already gathering at the scene.

Using alternative methods to draw talismans could cause bizarre phenomena!

If such oddities were witnessed by many, Yun Chen would have a hard time in the days to come!

Thus, Yun Chen opted for the most basic talisman-drawing method.

At last, the talisman was complete.

Yun Chen, clutching two pieces of talisman paper, approached the pond's edge, his gaze fixed on the water.

By then, the crowd had gathered a hundred meters from the edge, observing the pond's ripples from a distance.

"Oh my God! Someone really fell into the water!"

"Someone go down and rescue them!"

"Why don't you go?"

"I can't swim..."

The onlookers buzzed with conversation, yet few were ready to act, save for a handful of astute individuals searching for anything that could aid in a rescue.

"Hey? Isn't that Yun Chen? Is he going to dive in and save the person?"

Suddenly, someone exclaimed, pointing in a direction.

All eyes turned to where the finger pointed.

As they watched Yun Chen approach the water's edge, seemingly ready to dive in for a rescue, some faces turned pale, and they yelled, "Yun Chen, think this through!"

"Don't go into the water, or you might get dragged under too!"

Yun Chen paid no heed to the cries. He simply gripped the talisman paper, his eyes scanning the water intently.

In an instant, his eyes gleamed, and he released the two pieces of talisman paper from his hands.

The talisman papers, as if alive, shot towards the pond with purpose.

The characters Wang Dadao and Wang Xiaodao were a huge conundrum.
