C7 She Was Scared to the Point of Peeing

A chilling, sinister melody wafted through the cramped lounge, punctuated by the occasional blast of an unnaturally cold wind, casting an aura of eeriness over everything.

Jiang Mei edged closer to Zhang Badao, visibly shaken by the abrupt shift in the atmosphere. She was clearly terrified.

Yet before her fingers could clutch at the fabric of Zhang Badao's garment, a pair of ice-cold hands suddenly rested on the back of hers!

"Ah!!!"

Startled by the unexpected touch, Jiang Mei let out a piercing scream. It wasn't that she was faint-hearted; the sudden appearance of hands on hers in such a creepy setting was genuinely alarming.

She was certain these hands weren't Zhang Badao's, nor did they belong to Dean Lee, who stood to the side.

"Crazy woman, what's with the screaming?" Zhang Badao, taken aback by Jiang Mei's outburst, shot her a stern look.

"There's... there's a ghost!" Jiang Mei stammered, her voice quivering as she drew her neck in.

Seeing Jiang Mei's cowering demeanor, Zhang Badao felt a wave of revulsion. He couldn't fathom why he had ever decided to marry her.

Her face, with wrinkles no amount of makeup could hide, only intensified his disgust. She was a far cry from the young darling he had recently taken a fancy to.

Upon hearing her claim, Zhang Badao sneered, "A ghost? It seems you've reached an age where your mind isn't even clear anymore!"

Jiang Mei's rage flared at his words. She bellowed back, "Oh, really? Zhang Badao, you're disgusted by my age now? When you sweet-talked me into bed, did you not think I'd ever grow old?"

Her voice sliced through the air, overpowering the haunting music that filled the lounge.

"You..."

Clearly taken aback, Zhang Badao extended his hand to strike her, but as he did so, those same ice-cold hands suddenly landed on the back of his own hand.

Simultaneously, Zhang Badao felt an inexplicable heaviness settle over him.

The sensation was oppressive, as if an invisible entity was sprawled across Zhang Badao's body. Yet, when he looked around, he saw absolutely nothing. The chilling touch on his hand and the weighty pressure against him, however, convinced him that there was indeed an unseen "person" lying on top of him and even touching his hand.

"Who... Who is there?" Zhang Badao's voice shook with fear as he called out.

The only response was a sinister chuckle that seemed to pierce through the soul, making Zhang Badao shudder uncontrollably.

Meanwhile, Jiang Mei had already slumped onto the couch, shivering in terror.

"Who... Who are you?" Zhang Badao, desperate for answers, grabbed Dean Lee, who was also shaking, and used him as a shield before he stammered the question again.

"Who am I? Haha..." The mocking laughter that followed Zhang Badao's question filled the lounge with spite, emanating from every corner and making it impossible to pinpoint its source.

The laughter persisted for an unsettling duration. Just as Zhang Badao and the others were about to search for the source of the laughter, a chilling voice cut through the silence, turning Zhang Badao's complexion deathly white.

"Do you remember those you've killed? Today, I come as their avenger!"

The voice boomed with the fury of a demon from the depths of hell, its icy tone seeming to freeze the very soul.

Zhang Badao's face was drained of all color as he was haunted by the memories of his past misdeeds. He knew he wasn't a good man; the number of lives he'd taken over the years was beyond count.

But what of it? The world was a place where only the strong survived!

Those who had stood in the way of his wealth had sealed their own fate. Besides, in his eyes, their lives were insignificant compared to his own. They were nothing.

And so, he had eliminated anyone who obstructed his path, employing methods of extreme cruelty. He had no choice; he relished the power of determining others' destinies.

But now, there's supposedly a ghost claiming to represent the people I've killed coming back for revenge?

Does that mean this ghost-like entity is actually a ghost?

Zhang Badao didn't buy it for a second!

He had been a force to be reckoned with in the martial world for many years. If ghosts truly existed, wouldn't he have fallen victim to one by now?

There could only be one explanation!

Someone was masquerading as a ghost to frighten him!

And this imposter had to be one of his enemies!

The recent events must have been the handiwork of this foe using some sort of advanced technology!

The more Zhang Badao thought about it, the more convinced he became that someone was indeed playing ghost to scare him!

But if it was a person, then there was nothing to fear! Zhang Badao was never afraid of another human.

With this realization, Zhang Badao felt a wave of relief wash over him.

So, he brushed past Dean Lee, inhaled the room's slightly chilly air deeply, and said calmly, "Brother, may I ask how I have wronged you?"

"Let's sit down and talk this through. If I've truly done something to offend you, I'll find a way to make it right."

With that, Zhang Badao pulled a bank card from his pocket, placed it on a table in the lounge, and continued, "There's five million yuan on this card. The PIN is six zeros. Consider it a token of goodwill!"

Zhang Badao was certain that no grudge was too great to be settled with money.

Indeed, the moment he produced the bank card, the other party fell noticeably silent!

Zhang Badao's spirits lifted. Clearly, no one could stay composed in the face of money!

Just as Zhang Badao was feeling confident, that chilling voice spoke up leisurely, "Do you really want to see me?"

At these words, Zhang Badao's heart swelled with joy. If his adversary remained hidden, he would have to be cautious—especially if they were armed, his situation could be perilous.

But if they were willing to meet face-to-face, that was a different story!

Zhang Badao was convinced that once his opponent showed themselves, he would gain the upper hand! He might even manage to capture this shadowy figure alive!

He was determined to make the one who dared to intimidate him experience a fate worse than death!

Suppressing the excitement within, Zhang Badao spoke in a soothing voice, "Indeed, my friend. I believe we can sit down and have a constructive conversation. I assure you, you'll be pleased with the outcome."

"Fine. Since you're so eager to meet me, I'll grant your wish."

As the eerie voice ceased, Zhang Badao was horrified to see a figure materializing before him.

The figure was so transparent that its internal organs were visible. Zhang Badao could see the pulsating heart and the writhing human organs!

He couldn't resist looking up and was met with a face he never wanted to see again.

What kind of face was it?

Rotten flesh hung from it, occasionally wriggling with repulsive insects, and a faint, nauseating stench wafted through the air.

"Ghost... a ghost!"

Once Jiang Mei got a clear view, she screamed and tumbled off the sofa, a pungent odor of urine emanating from her.

Jiang Mei had been so terrified by the ghost's appearance that she wet herself...

From a corner of the lounge, Yun Chen caught sight of the ghost, his mouth involuntarily twitching.

Though he had been covertly manipulating the ghost's speech, this was his first glimpse of its form.

He hadn't anticipated the ghost's appearance to be as unsettling as a car crash scene.

Yun Chen couldn't help but show a look of revulsion.

The ghost suddenly turned its head, peering towards Yun Chen's hiding spot, and began to whimper.

The sound was filled with such sorrow, reminiscent of an abandoned child.

As the puppeteer of the ghost, Yun Chen immediately sensed the ghost's feelings.

Did this creature realize he found it repulsive? Was it feeling hurt?

"Uh, I didn't mean it like that. I meant you have a unique look, quite fitting for a ghost!" Yun Chen blurted out an explanation.

"Wuwu~~"

The ghost seemed to take in Yun Chen's words and let out a cry, apparently content with his explanation.

Yun Chen sensed the ghost's contentment, and he couldn't help but smirk.

At that moment, Yun Chen started to question the system. What kind of ghost was this, exactly?

It seemed more like a child eager for compliments!

While Yun Chen was busy mocking, the ghost, basking in what it perceived as Yun Chen's "compliments," fixed its gaze on Zhang Badao.

It remembered Yun Chen's command well. Its mission was to terrify this tasty-looking individual.

The ghost wondered if its temporary master would allow it a meal. It had been ages since it last feasted on a human.

As Yun Chen continued his tirade and the ghost contemplated its hunger, Zhang Badao was already petrified, his soul nearly leaving his body.

The translucent form and the grotesque, accident-marred face left no doubt that this revolting entity was indeed a ghost!

A ghost, of all things!

Hadn't it been established that after the founding of the country, animals couldn't transform into spirits and ghosts weren't supposed to appear?

So why had Zhang Badao, of all people, stumbled upon a ghost?

Could it be that this ghost was sent by someone he had killed, come to claim his life?

And as the ghost turned its head towards him, Zhang Badao's heart clenched in fear.
