C2 First Theft

"Grandpa, I'm back!"

"Yu! You're back! Come and eat. I've prepared some food for you." Seeing Ye Yu came home, the old man with the hunched back smiled kindly.

"Yu, what are you thinking? Are you hiding something from me? Do you need money? I can give you more," the old man said to Ye Yu softly, who was distracted.

"Grandpa, I'm fine. I was just wondering something," Ye Yu quickly answered.

Ye Yu had been an abandoned orphan. He was later picked up and adopted by the old man, Ye Weiguo.

The grandfather and his grandson relied on each other for their survival. The old man gave all his love to Ye Yu, saving money and living frugally himself. He had raised Ye Yu and got him admitted to the best high school in the city.

The boy watched his grandfather get older by the day. Ye Yu had sworn to himself that he would do his best to ensure that his grandfather would pursue a peaceful life.

From what he had gained today, it would be an easy task.

"Grandpa, I'm full. I'm going to my room to do homework."

After hastily having dinner with his grandfather, Ye Yu slid into his room.

"System?"

Ye Yu called out uncertainly in his heart. He lay on the bed, breathing rapidly. His chest rose and fell in alternate motions.

"Beep! Great Way System binding successful!"

Following the voice, a screen of light appeared in front of Ye Yu.

Looking at the system interface in front of him, Ye Yu heaved a sigh of relief in his heart. He rolled on the bed. He was ecstatic, feeling like his life had reached its peak!

"Human Clan: Ye Yu (First Level Taoist)"

"Physique: Mortal"

"Remaining Steal Number: 1"

"Avenue Value: 0 / 1000"

"Innate Talent: None"

"Lottery Number: 0”

A stream of information flowed into his mind. Ye Yu made sense of the system's abilities.

The Great Way System had its own rules. Apart from giving him great opportunities, it was adept at stealing.

Daoist? Was he sure that it would not turn him into a thief?

But it stole from the Universe. Nothing in this world was safe from being stolen anyway. It was amazing...

Ye Yu looked at the System Interface in front of him, which showed him that he was a First Grade Daoist. If he wanted to upgrade to a Second Grade Daoist, he would need 1000 Avenue Values.

He looked at the number of times he was allowed to steal. According to the System's prompt, the Host was Level 1. That meant he could steal once a day.

He could steal things from all over the world...

"Let's start stealing," Ye Yu muttered in his heart.

With this thought, the System Interface in front of Ye Yu changed. A circular tunnel with brilliant colors appeared in front of him.

"Beep. Host, extend your right hand into the tunnel and grab at will," the System quickly gave instructions for using the device.

Ye Yu looked at the passageway hovering in front of him. He raised his right hand and thrust his entire arm into it. He then made a grabbing motion with his right hand.

Under the blue sky, a steep mountain rose up from the ground. On top of the towering mountain were countless swords, wedged into the terrain upside down.

Thousands of swords of different shapes and sizes.... but none similar to the other.

To the disciples of the Sword Sect, every sword on the mountain was a rare spiritual weapon.

The closer one got to the peak, the fewer swords one saw. However, the distinct aura of the swords grew overwhelming.

On the peak of the sword mountain was a patch of grass.

The grass had a strange shape. The leaves stood up straight, looking like sharp swords. The Sword Qi on them was sharper and felt threatening.

In the middle of the grass was a particularly eye-catching leaf, the king of the grass. The surrounding grass seemed to submit to it. The Sword Qi on the king of grass exploded wildly.

A floating cloud passed by and was crushed by the Sword Qi that shot up into the sky out of the Sword Grass.

The Sword Grass that grew on top of the sword mountain was the ultimate treasure of the Sword Sect. It absorbed the essence of countless long swords. If a person ate it, he could be reborn...

In a corner of the peak were two old men in long robes, sitting cross-legged. They had a straight posture and the Sword Qi on their bodies appeared to be restrained. They looked like treasured swords, hiding their sharp edges.

"Sword One, how long have you and I been guarding this place?" one of the men asked the other.

"Ten years!" the old man named Sword One said, sighing.

"That's right, ten years! We have been guarding the Sword Grass for ten years. The Sword Grass is about to mature. Once that happens, we won't have to stay in this bitter and cold place anymore," the first man replied.

"Sword Nine, don't get distracted by what will happen in the future! The Sword Grass is the foundation of our sect, and we can't afford to lose it!" Sword One said in a deep voice.

Sword Nine laughed carelessly. "No one in the world can break through our sect's defense. No one can steal the Sword Grass that is always radiating its sharp Sword Qi."

Sword One also laughed at the words. "Of course not, but...!"

Right in front of Sword One's shocked eyes, an arm suddenly appeared out of thin air, right above the Sword Grass,

A fair and slender hand stretched out from the void, swinging back and forth in the air, as if reaching for something. The tip of the finger touched the Sword Grass. The Sword Qi on the Sword Grass seemed to get suppressed by the touch.

The palm that appeared out of thin air seemed to maneuver eagerly. The fingers gathered around the Sword Grass. The arm grabbed the Sword Grass, pulled it out with force, and then disappeared.

Hearing the strange sound, Sword Nine was somewhat puzzled. "What just happened? Sword One, did someone just steal the Sword Grass?"

Sword One suddenly stood up like a sharp sword that had been unsheathed. Sword Qi rushed out of his body, tearing apart the wind and the clouds within a hundred mile radius.

"Someone stole the Sword Grass!"

As Sword Nine heard these words, his Sword Qi too swept over the sky and spread, typical of force of the Imperial Sword Sect.

The two men quickly sprinted to the place where the Sword Grass had disappeared. The spot where the Sword Grass had been was now empty. There was nothing there.

"The Sword Grass has been stolen! Who has done this?!" Recalling the sudden appearance of the hand, cold sweat trickled down Sword One's forehead.

"Who can break through the void and steal the Sword Grass in the watchful presence of the Sword Qi? Sword One! What did you see?"

"I saw a right hand!"

"Pass my order! Everyone in the Sword Palace, be on guard!" Sword Nine's voice resounded throughout the Sword Palace. He and Sword One joined their swords and flew down the mountain, the rumbling Sword Qi thunder raging around them.
