On September 1st, 2332, the world celebrated the Global Awakening Ceremony Day.

In Noswua, at the esteemed Fete Class School in Southvale City, young hopefuls gathered in the campus square under the guidance of their mentors, hearts brimming with anticipation for their own awakening ceremony.

Meanwhile, at the base of the towering God's Tablet, a steady stream of class advancement announcements could be heard.

"Ye Hei, class advancement complete. Your new profession: Coffin Lifter!"

"Hsiao Huohuo, class advancement complete. Your new job: Pharmacist!"

"Bai Dachun, class advancement complete. Your new occupation: Chef!"

"Shi Hao, class advancement complete. Your new class: Milk Production Master!"

The announcements, emanating from the Transfer Stele, were delivered in a tone resembling an emotionless, synthesized electronic voice.

A succession of life occupations had Soong Yuan, the dean in charge of documenting the students' class transitions, furrowing his brow in concern. He glanced down at the student roster; nearly a tenth of the students had awakened, yet not a single one had transitioned into a regular combat or supplementary occupation. This was hardly befitting the reputation of one of Noswua's finest Class Schools!

But in the next moment, Soong Yuan's demeanor brightened. His gaze lifted from the roster to a student at the front of the queue.

The student's features were refined, and at nearly 1.9 meters tall, his handsomeness was beyond description.

Soong Yuan beckoned to him, saying with a warm smile, "Shen Lang, it's your turn. Come forward and get ready!"

As the name Shen Lang was called, a hush fell over the crowd. All eyes were on the young man making his way toward the God's Tablet.

In Fete Class School, Shen Lang was a name everyone knew.

Hailing from the slums and raised in an orphanage, Shen Lang had entered Fete Class School with top scores in both the class theory and combat occupation exams. Over the past three years, he had consistently held the top spot, unchallenged in his status.

With his near-perfect looks, Shen Lang was adored by students and teachers alike, though not without a hint of envy from his male peers and younger male instructors.

Soong Yuan gazed at the young man before him, filled with anticipation. He couldn't help but wonder if, this time, the boy wouldn't awaken to just another life profession.

If a student of Shen Lang's caliber couldn't awaken a combat or supplementary occupation, it would be a travesty of justice!

"Shen Lang, are you ready? If so, let's get started," Soong Yuan said cheerfully.

Shen Lang nodded respectfully to Soong Yuan and turned to face the God’s Tablet, its surface etched with innumerable enigmatic runes. As he stood before the Tablet, he whispered to himself, "As someone who's crossed over from another world, wouldn't it be reasonable for me to become a Mage Lord?"

Indeed, Shen Lang was a transmigrator, having arrived in this bizarre world three years prior.

From what he'd gleaned about this world's history, it appeared to be the Blue Star of three hundred years post his original time.

The world of three hundred years ago was one of science and technology, not much different from the time before his transmigration. But now, three centuries later, it had transformed into an age of job transitions.

For Shen Lang, a man from three hundred years in the past, this concept was easy to grasp. It was as if the online novels he'd read had come to life!

Those stories had once been his solace through many a lonely night.

Regrettably, in this new age, web novels were a thing of the past; everyone was busy with their job transitions.

Not everyone, of course, could awaken to a prestigious occupation. Most people ended up with mundane life professions, with only a select few awakening to combat or supplementary occupations. These were the coveted roles, the backbone of nations in their struggle against the savage beasts.

Among the combat occupations, Mages were especially esteemed for their high burst damage, array of area-of-effect skills, and ranged attacks, placing them at the forefront of combat prowess. As such, Mages were affectionately dubbed Mage Lords by their fellow Class holders.

Mages do have their vulnerabilities, notably a slightly weaker defense, but it's hardly a dealbreaker. Once one awakens as a Mage, whether they're teaming up or planning to join a guild or an official power, the presence of Guardian Warriors, tanks, and Healers is pretty much guaranteed. Safety concerns? Nonexistent.

That's why Shen Lang, along with ninety-nine percent of players, aspired to become a Mage Lord. And if not a Mage Lord, then a Dragon Knight would suffice. With a sly grin, Shen Lang inhaled deeply and placed his hand on the God's Tablet amidst the watchful eyes of the crowd.

As Shen Lang's palm neared, the God's Tablet's myriad runes began to shimmer, twinkling like stars in the night sky. Soon, one rune detached itself and gently fused into his forehead.

In that moment, the Transfer Stele emitted an icy voice, broadcasting Shen Lang's new class to all.

"Shen Lang, class change complete. Hidden Occupation — Beastmaster!"

The announcement echoed, and the crowd erupted into a buzz of conversation.

"Unbelievable, a hidden occupation! Shen Lang has awakened a hidden occupation; he truly is our academy's top student!"

"Doesn't a hidden occupation mean a guaranteed talent awakening?"

"Why does the handsome guy get a hidden occupation too? It's just not fair!"

"Hidden occupations are rare and formidable. There are only a handful worldwide each year. But, haha, Shen Lang's is a Beastmaster! A Beastmaster!"

"Wait, I just realized, Beastmaster is a Money Pit occupation!"

"Exactly, it costs a fortune! Shen Lang, an orphan who's survived on scholarships, probably can't even afford the most basic beast!"

"What's the point of a low-level beast? Remember, a Beastmaster has to split the experience with their beast. If it's low-level, how slow will Shen Lang's leveling be? It's a harsh fate. Shen Lang's life is pretty much over, and what a waste of a hidden occupation!"

When Shen Lang's awakening as a Beastmaster—a hidden occupation—became known in the plaza, the students initially reacted with shock, which quickly devolved into a mix of ridicule and pity.

Shen Lang, however, paid them no mind. His mind was abuzz with a cascade of notifications, each one sending a thrilling surge through his veins.
