C101 Conversation with Housekeeper Luo
After finishing his speech, Zhan Tianming gently nudged his Divine Punisher Sword forward.
Right away, the Divine Punisher Sword in his hands unleashed the mighty sound of thunder.
Crack, crack, crack...
Crack, crack, crack...
Silver and red bolts of lightning electrified the surface of the sword, growing more and more energized as though unable to contain its thirst for blood.
The powerful might of the sword overflowed, radiating its divine energy.
“Humph! I can see that you are very arrogant.” Cui Ming could not help coldly snorting.
“You are about right! I am arrogant!” Zhan Tianming stared back at his opponent without not an ounce of fear in his eyes.
Crack...
Cui Ming’s two hands then tightly curled into fists. He stared right at Zhan Tianming, unflinchingly, as if he was going to attack at any moment.
However, he was able to hold it in in the end.
“Humph. I will report to the Prince every single word you have uttered today.”
Whoosh!
Then with a flourish of his hands, he left with the people from Jiuyuan County.
Only after Cui Ming and the others were gone did the people from the County Prince's Mansion finally had a moment to breathe.
“That’s great news! The people from Jiuyuan County finally went away.”
“And all this thanks to Young Master Zhan’s efforts.”
“That’s right! Young Master Zhan stood his ground without standing down. He pointed his sword at the mob of people from Jiuyuan County and all of them retreated after exchanging a few words. He is simply too awesome, and I admire him a great deal.”
“If you want to worship Young Master Zhan, there’s already a line. I am currently Young Master Zhan’s number one fan.”
“What do you mean you’re number one? You’re wrong. I’m number one…”
Hearing the voices erupt behind him, Zhan Tianming was at a loss for words.
'Can’t you guys act normal?'
'A normal person would think first before speaking like that, right?'
'However...'
'I can’t say I don’t like this.'
Haha...
Though Zhan Tianming enjoyed that feeling of being idolized, it did not lift the burden in his heart.
After all, this was only a temporary resolution. The people from Jiuyuan County would be back and probably next time they would bring with them an entire army to change Linshang County's mind.
But there was still a way around this.
Just then, the old butler, Luo Ang, came over.
“Young Master Zhan, I’d like to have a word with you, if that’s alright?”
“Hmm?” Zhan Tianming expressed his shock, but he nonetheless nodded his head in agreement.
In a room.
The old butler Luo Ang and Zhan Tianming found a place to sit together.
After a while, Luo Ang stood up and bowed his head to Zhan Tianming, saying, “Luo Ang would like to thank Young Master Zhan on behalf of His Highness.”
“Housekeeper Luo, no need for such courtesies.” Zhan Tianming bent down and helped the butler up.
Even though Zhan Tianming was a little unhappy about Luo Ang probing him previously, this was small peanuts compared to the matters having to do with Zongzheng Wanyou. Such small matters were inconsequential and were not worth mentioning.
From the very beginning, Zhan Tianming had been like this - he was not someone who would hold a grudge.
Luo Ang stood straight up, his face brimming over with gratitude.
After a slight pause, he said, “Young Master Zhan, there is something I don’t quite understand. Maybe you can offer an explanation.”
“What is it?” Zhan Tianming said.
Mulling things over in his mind, Luo Ang finally said, “Young Master Zhan is Princess Wushuang’s suitor. I’m sure you have a great fondness for Princess Wushuang, but Princess Wushuang and my Young Lady are constantly bickering. Why would you go out of your way to help my Young Miss at this time?”
“Aren't you afraid of angering Princess Wushuang?”
“Also, in order to protect my Young Miss, you had revealed your divine weapon. I predict such an unveiling will bring about a lot of trouble.”
“If you give my Young Miss such special treatment, won’t it cause suspicion and in the end, hurt Princess Wushuang’s feelings?”
Luo Ang asked all his questions in one single breath.
Every question was straight to the point, hitting the heart of the matter dead on.
Zhan Tianming could only laugh dryly before asking a question, “Housekeeper Luo, I also have something to ask you.”
Luo Ang was slightly surprised. He had no clue what Zhan Tianming wanted to ask him.
However, he did not hesitate to respond, “Young Master Zhan, ask away.”
Zhan Tianming went straight to the point. “Why did you go out of your way to make a move to test me during the day?”
Hearing his words, Luo Ang was too startled to at once properly form a response.
His pair of eyes stared straight at Zhan Tianming, without blinking.
Finally, he gave his answer. “So you have already done some undercover work and found out that the person in black was me.”
“Yes, something to that degree,” Zhan Tianming said.
In any case, Zhan Tianming didn’t want to mention that he found out through Little Purple.
It was best to keep the lid on Little Purple. Only in this way would he still be able to use his trump card when in dire need.
After all…
The Nine Dragons Continent was an unruly place not governed by the rule of law.
If one did not watch their step, they could fall into danger and die at any time.
Therefore, he always left himself a way out. It was better to be careful than not cautious at all. If faced in another life or death situation, it was best to have lots of options.
Luo Ang met Zhan Tianming’s direct gaze unflinchingly as he solemnly nodded his head and said, “Actually, this was all under the Prince’s command. The Prince believed that you and my Young Miss are highly compatible and might be able to help out our Prince's Mansion. That’s why he ordered me to test your strength.”
“Alas…”
While saying this, Luo Ang released a long sigh.
“But never would I have thought that His Highness would perish in this way. He was actually killed just like that. With no last words or anything. What a pity.”
Luo Ang’s face was plagued by grief.
Zhan Tianming could not help but frown.
'Am I fated to be with your Young Miss? Or is this something the Prince orchestrated beyond the grave?'
'What does it mean exactly?'
Could this mean that Zongzheng Qingxuan already knew that he had secretly peeked at Zongzheng Wanyou while she was bathing?
No way.
After his thoughts flashed wildly in his mind, Zhan Tianming turned to the butler to ask, “Housekeeper Luo, why does your master think I am destined to be with the County Princess?”
Luo Ang explained, “Actually, the Prince was already well aware of the matters between you and my family’s Young Miss.”
“What? It can’t be.” Zhan Tianming could not help but express his astonishment.
He never thought that Zongzheng Qingxuan had inside information about that matter.
Damn it!
This was way over his head.
Could it be that Zongzheng Wanyou would divulge this humiliating matter to her father?
Altogether impossible!
None of this was possible.
Zhan Tianming refused to believe the validity of this even if his life was on the line.
“Young Master Zhan, if you think things over, you might not find it so strange.”
Luo Ang took in the strange expression being displayed on Zhan Tianming’s face and seized the moment to explain, “Because Young Miss opposed the marriage between her and that young master from Jiuyuan County, she revealed the matter of her being peeked at, in order to push the Prince to change his mind over the marriage with Jiuyuan County. So the Prince sent me to investigate the matter.”
Speaking to this point, Luo Ang made a tactful decision to not continue anymore, stopping right there.
Zhan Tianming nodded his head slightly.
He was amazed at the turn of events.
No wonder.
“Oh right, Young Master Zhan, you almost forgot to answer my questions just now.” Luo Ang reminded him.
“Are these important?” Zhan Tianming asked.
“Yes, they are of the utmost importance.” Luo Ang nodded his head.
“Why?” Zhan Tianming did not think before asking.
In actuality, Zhan Tianming was trying to delay things. He did not really want to answer those probing questions.
However, Luo Ang kept insisting that he answer those questions, saying, “Because, my Prince had long ago predicted that something unexpected would arise, he had made preparations in case none of this goes through. If you are not willing to lend us a hand, we naturally need to know ahead of time.”
“I hope this is not a problem for you.”
“All of this concerns the safety of my Young Miss.”
