C5 Working Together!

Zhonghai University's basketball level is nothing to write home about. I've heard you're the head of the sports department and the captain of the team, but I played with my eyes closed and you only scored three points. It looks like your team should be struck off the Zhonghai League roster—it's like watching children play pretend, utterly feeble."

Wu Zun stood triumphant, looking down on Wang Dongchen like a king, his words laden with disdain, each one striking Wang Dongchen's heart like a heavy hammer.

"Don't go bragging about your basketball skills in front of Bao'er anymore. Beauty pairs with the hero, not with the likes of you."

"Damn you!"

Wang Dongchen trembled with fury, his eyes fixed on Wu Zun with a murderous intensity. He had expected an easy win, but Wu Zun's skill was unfathomable. Despite Wang Dongchen's best efforts, he couldn't block a single shot.

His fists were clenched so tightly they made a cracking sound, unable to accept that he was a loser.

Wu Zun's face bore a smile of utter arrogance as he slowly approached Tang Bao'er. Since laying eyes on her, he couldn't get her out of his mind, and now he was ready to show off his strength, letting everyone know the meaning of power.

He was poised to invite Tang Bao'er out, planning to charm her and win her over. The room card in his pocket was his assurance of tasting the flavor of Zhonghai University's most coveted belle tonight.

"Wait a minute, if you're so sure of yourself, let's have a team match. If you win, you can do as you please."

A voice mixed with indignation and anger rang out—it was Wang Dongchen. Although he had lost, he was not ready to give up, especially not with Tang Bao'er so close. He couldn't just hand her over.

He had to redeem himself; his school reputation depended on it. With his experience, Wang Dongchen was sure they could crush the opposition in a team match. His teammates were strong, second only to him, and Wu Zun was just one man. Basketball is not a solo sport; it's about teamwork, and Wang Dongchen was confident in their collaboration.

"Hmm?"

Wu Zun stopped and turned, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. He clapped his hands and chuckled, "You guys really have some nerve. Well then, I'll make sure you lose so clearly you'll never doubt it. Believe me, this competition is going to be your worst nightmare."

Wu Zun paused and turned around with a mischievous grin. Clapping his hands, he laughed and said, "You guys really have some nerve. Well then, I'll make sure you lose clearly and unequivocally. Trust me, this match will become the nightmare of your lives."

"Dongchen."

Situ Feiyang walked over coolly and patted his shoulder. Soon after, three robust young men joined them. They were all Zhonghai Middle School students from the Sports Department, an elite assembly.

Each had been a key player at their respective schools. Now, together at Zhonghai, and after several months of intensive training, their teamwork was exceptional. They were confident they could defeat any opponent.

To them, Wu Zun was just one person, hardly a threat.

"Let's get to work, brothers."

Wu Zun shouted, and four young men in black team uniforms stepped out from the crowd. They looked ordinary, which allowed Situ Feiyang to relax slightly, thinking that aside from one extraordinary individual, their victory was certain with the right coordination.

"You think I'm the only one who's tough?" Wu Zun roared, as if seeing right through them, "Brothers, show your full strength and give these kids a reality check."

The Zhonghai students cheered loudly, eagerly hoping for Wang Dongchen and Situ Feiyang to win. This battle was for their pride; a loss to outsiders on their home turf would be utterly humiliating.

In basketball, skill speaks for itself.

Situ Feiyang was taller than Wu Zun by a good margin. As a small forward with a jump even higher than Wang Dongchen's, dunking was effortless for him. The tip-off seemed to be a sure thing.

The referee's whistle sounded, and the basketball flew into the air as both players jumped up.

"Snap!"

Unexpectedly, Wu Zun touched the ball first, snatching it away.

"What? Feiyang lost?"

Lu Qianxue's face registered complete surprise. Situ Feiyang wasn't just a top student; his athletic talent was astounding. If he and Wang Dongchen couldn't best Wu Zun, what did that make him—a monster?

The disadvantageous start annoyed Situ Feiyang, but he quickly adjusted his mindset and turned to defend.

As his teammate passed the ball to Wu Zun, Situ Feiyang stepped up to guard him.

"Think you can guard me?"

With a teasing smile, Wu Zun executed a quick shimmy and a deceptive feint, leaving Situ Feiyang a step behind.

"Fast!" That was his first reaction.

By the time he realized what was happening, Wu Zun was only three to four meters away from the basket. In less than a second, no one could have predicted his astonishing speed. It was too late for anyone to mount a defense.

At that critical juncture, Wang Dongchen reacted the quickest. As Wu Zun took his shot, Wang Dongchen leaped high, channeling all his strength, ready to block the shot and exact revenge.

"Bring it on."

Seemingly expecting the confrontation, Wu Zun took the shot regardless, and they collided forcefully in mid-air.

Surprisingly, Wang Dongchen, who appeared to have the upper hand, was knocked back three or four meters, falling to the ground and gasping for breath, clearly injured.

And with that, Wu Zun scored again.

A murmur of disbelief swept through the spectators. Their main players couldn't last even one round—what were their chances of winning? Their previous optimism now seemed overly confident.

Wang Dongchen and Situ Feiyang looked at each other, their eyes filled with deep wariness.

Despite the Zhonghai team exerting their full effort, pushing their strength, speed, and skill to the limit, they were unable to change the course of the game. Wu Zun's teammates were evidently exceptional, performing superbly on both offense and defense.

With Wu Zun as the driving force, the Zhonghai team was left in shambles. In less than ten minutes, several players were injured, with Wang Dongchen struggling for breath after a chest impact.

Situ Yingfei seemed formidable on the surface, but his trembling steps betrayed his anxiety. They were facing a formidable opponent, after all.

In just fifteen minutes, Wu Zun had amassed thirty points, while Wang Dongchen had yet to score, completely dominated by the opposing team.

Within twenty minutes, Zhonghai's team had already lost two players to forfeits, and another was injured and escorted off the court, leaving no substitutes. Only Situ Feiyang and Wang Dongchen were left to defend their team.

"I've said it before, a ragtag bunch like this has no place on the basketball court," Wu Zun said dismissively, as he headed straight for Tang Bao'er.

"Hey, beautiful, I won the game against your team. How about I take you out to dinner tonight?"

Twenty minutes into the game, Zhonghai had already seen two of its players forfeit and one leave the court due to injury, with no replacements stepping in. This left only Situ Feiyang and Wang Dongchen to valiantly hold the fort alone.

"I've said it before, a ragtag bunch like this has no business playing basketball," Wu Zun sneered contemptuously as he strode toward Tang Bao'er.

"Hey, beautiful, I won the game against your team. How about I take you out to dinner tonight?"

Despite the setback, Situ and Wang had no choice but to accept the situation, unable to dictate any terms.

"No problem, but you'll have to beat someone first," Tang Bao'er responded, her gaze flitting about before she made a beeline for Qin Fann. With the crowd watching in astonishment, she clung to his arm, her expression a mix of pout and plea, "I need to go home and study tonight. I don't want to go out with him. Can you beat him for me, brother-in-law? Please, please..."
