C21 It's Not over Yet!
Chu Xuan nonchalantly grabbed a peanut from the plate before him.
Hsu Qingya, who had been closely watching his movements, suddenly raised her eyebrows. The image of a martial arts master using leaves and petals to injure foes in a TV drama flashed through her mind.
In the hall, the bald Mr. Peng had just emptied a bottle of wine over a girl, leaving her drenched and looking utterly miserable.
"Little slut, blame your father, Chen Guangyun, for having the audacity to harm Fourth Young Master Guo. Tell him we're not done with this," Mr. Peng snarled as he released her hair. A sinister and merciless smile curled his lips before he brutally kicked her in the stomach.
"This is for Chen Guangyun!"
The students around them gasped in shock, having not anticipated such malice from the bald brute.
The force of the kick was so severe, it could have been lethal or at least crippling!
The girl closed her eyes in despair.
But in that split second, Chu Xuan's peanut flew from his hand like a striking meteor, piercing right through Mr. Peng's knee!
"Ah!" Mr. Peng howled in agony, collapsing to the floor with blood gushing from the gaping hole in his knee, quickly pooling around him.
"Mr. Peng!" His cronies were startled, rushing to his aid.
Despite his initial scream, Mr. Peng showed some resilience, not uttering another sound. He swiftly tore off a piece of his clothing to bind his thigh, while bellowing, "Damn it, who's the meddling bastard that shot me? Show yourself if you've got the nerve!"
"What? A gun?" His henchmen were instantly cowed.
The bar patrons were equally horrified. Someone had a gun? Bullets didn't discriminate; any mishap could be disastrous.
Mr. Peng cursed, "You useless fools, what's there to fear? I don't believe he'd dare to openly shoot someone. Block all the exits of this bar now! No one gets out!"
Two quick-thinking henchmen immediately dashed toward the front and back doors.
"Damn it, no one's getting away!"
The more alert patrons had already bolted, while the slower ones found themselves trapped inside the bar by the shut doors, cursing their luck and wishing they had been born with an extra pair of legs.
"Come out, you coward! If you're a real man, don't hide! Come on, take a shot at Master Peng!" Mr. Peng hopped onto the stage on one leg and arrogantly gestured to his head.
This guy was truly fearless, not even flinching at the prospect of death.
Chu Xuan let out a cold laugh and fired another peanut, striking Mr. Peng's other knee.
"Ah..." Mr. Peng's scream filled the air as he lost his balance and fell to his knees with a heavy thud.
"Mr. Peng!" The henchmen trembled, too scared to approach.
Bearing the intense pain, Mr. Peng cursed, "Bro, can you tell where that shot came from?"
One henchman replied, "No clue. They've definitely used a silencer."
"Damn it..." Mr. Peng was now visibly frightened. If his adversary kept hiding and sniping from the shadows, they were at a serious disadvantage.
He had stirred up enough trouble for one day. Maybe it was time to call it quits?
"What are you idiots doing, eating dirt? Get over here and help me up!"
At their boss's command, the henchmen reluctantly gathered their courage, scrambled onto the stage, and, in a frenzy, hoisted Mr. Peng up before sprinting toward the bar's entrance.
The crowd inside the bar breathed a collective sigh of relief, all wondering who had taken the daring shot.
Carrying a gun and using it with such precision—what kind of person was he?
Shen Xiaoyu and her friends had regained their composure and began speculating about the identity of the mysterious sharpshooter.
"Hey, do you think that person is still here?" Shen Xiaoyu scanned the room, filled with hope.
"He's definitely still here, but who knows who he is," Ye Tao remarked with admiration. "So cool. If I had a weapon like that, I'd have stepped in too and taught those lowlifes a lesson."
Hsu Qingya cast a meaningful glance at Chu Xuan, who was serenely sipping his wine, before turning to Ye Tao with a smile playing at her lips, her voice tinged with a hint of sarcasm, "Oh, really? Who was it that wanted to leave here in such a hurry?"
Ye Tao's face flushed with embarrassment.
"We let them get away. Such a shame. We shouldn't have let those lowlifes off the hook!" Shen Xiaoyu exclaimed in frustration.
"They're not getting away," Chu Xuan declared, setting down his glass.
"What?" Shen Xiaoyu and the others were taken aback.
Just then, a scream pierced the air outside the bar, followed by a figure crashing in like a kite whose string had been cut. It was none other than Mr. Peng.
"Damn it, picking on my daughter, will you? If you're brave enough, come at me!" A towering, furious figure stormed into the bar—Chen Guangyun.
The patrons, sensing trouble, saw the door swing open again and quickly made their exits, eager to avoid any fallout.
A few braver souls remained, eager to see how the drama would unfold.
Chu Xuan refilled his empty glass and, with a contented air, leaned back to enjoy his drink.
It appeared that today's spectacle was far from over.
Hsu Qingya occasionally glanced at Chu Xuan, her eyes sparkling with intrigue and a touch of pride. She was the only one in the room who knew that Chu Xuan was the one who had intervened.
Chen Guangyun, upon seeing his daughter cowering in a corner, was immediately gripped by anxiety.
He had rushed here in a panic after receiving her call, still unaware of the full situation.
"Roujun, Roujun, are you alright? Are you hurt anywhere?"
"Dad, I'm okay," Roujun sobbed, rushing into his embrace, her shoulders shaking.
Chen Guangyun's heart shattered at the sight of his daughter's distress.
"I'm going to make you pay for this today!" he vowed, releasing Roujun and seizing Mr. Peng by the collar, hoisting him up.
Mr. Peng cackled maniacally, "Hahaha, I belong to Fourth Young Master Guo. You dare lay a hand on me? Just so you know, my brothers are already on their way here. If you've got any sense, kneel and give me ten loud kowtows. Then I might consider sparing you and your daughter. Otherwise, you'll regret it!"
"Do you think I'm scared of the Guo family?" Chen Guangyun threw his head back and let out a boisterous laugh. He had recently cozied up to the Xiao family, and it had made him quite brazen!
It was precisely this gesture that allowed him to catch sight of Chu Xuan on the second floor!
Chen Guangyun paused, then his face lit up with glee. "Damn it, I wouldn't be scared even if the Great Monarch himself showed up today!"
"Well, well, Chen Guangyun, you've really upped your game," an elderly voice suddenly rang out from outside the bar. Shortly after, an old man dressed in a traditional Tang suit entered. It was none other than Elder Hu, Guo Hao's master, who had been present at the Martial Dao Exchange Conference.
Mr. Peng was thrilled. "Elder Hu!"
He could hardly believe that Elder Hu had come himself!
Given his standing, even Guo Hao's lackey would seldom get the chance to see Elder Hu in person.
"You good-for-nothing, always stirring up trouble and tarnishing the Guo family's good name," Elder Hu rebuked.
