C2 The Big Master Killed People! the Aunt's Contempt!
In the pitch-black night, the moonlight revealed Xiao Nan's face to Liu Weiming, Han Xuan, and William, who stood directly before him.
His expression was one of serene composure.
As Xiao Nan approached, Han Xuan and William exchanged a knowing look and burst into laughter, finding the situation absurdly funny, nearly to the point of tears.
"You're not just a weakling; you're an idiot. You heard Liu Weiming say I'm the world's twenty-third-ranked assassin, and yet you're walking towards me. Are you out of your mind? It's no wonder you ended up as a despised son-in-law, scorned by your own family. Honestly, life holds little meaning for someone like you. Today, I'll do you the favor of ending it. Dying at the hands of Han Xuan, the twenty-third-ranked assassin, will at least give you a bit of glory in your demise," Han Xuan declared.
With a swift flick of his wrist, he conjured a gust of wind, and a dagger gleaming with a cold light materialized in his hand.
William nodded in agreement. "Finish him. Keeping such a pathetic figure alive serves no purpose. Our objective is to seize the Wang family's core technology and integrate it into our own. This fool understands nothing; he's worthless. Just kill him."
Liu Weiming stamped his foot, ready to charge forward. Initially stunned, he quickly realized Xiao Nan was feigning foolishness, prompting his urgency.
But soon enough, Liu Weiming recognized his error, his assumption completely off the mark.
Xiao Nan, observing Han Xuan and William, simply shook his head.
"You might expect the Wang family to dismiss me as a loser, but you three are supposed to be formidable—a world-class assassin, a hardened criminal, and a Bruyas special agent. Yet the intelligence you've gathered is laughably inaccurate. Don't you know who I am?" Xiao Nan challenged.
Without waiting for a response, he continued, shaking his head, "Never mind. After tonight, it won't matter who I am, because neither of you will be in any position to find out."
With those words, Xiao Nan lunged forward with explosive speed.
On the other side, Han Xuan, initially ready to scoff at Xiao Nan's words, caught sight of his velocity.
In that moment, Han Xuan's expression transformed with realization.
Before he knew it, Xiao Nan had positioned himself right in front of Han Xuan. With a swift motion, Xiao Nan extended his hand and, with a whoosh, snatched the dagger from Han Xuan's grasp. Han Xuan was stunned; he couldn't believe that his dagger, which he was holding with such force, had been taken so effortlessly. It was clear that Xiao Nan's strength far surpassed his own.
In the next moment, a chilling glint flashed before Han Xuan's eyes. "Puchi! Puchi! Puchi!" He felt his throat being sliced open. As the world's twenty-third-ranked assassin, he didn't even get a chance to fight back. Blurring vision signaled Han Xuan's impending demise. "So... you... you're incredibly strong..."
"Run!" William was ready to flee. He had not anticipated that the Wang family's ridiculed son-in-law, far from being a weakling, was actually an extraordinary powerhouse. What in the world was happening? All William knew was that he needed to escape, and no other thoughts occupied his mind. Without hesitation, he burst into a sprint.
But just a short distance away, a whistling sound caught his attention. William's hair stood on end as he turned to see the very dagger Xiao Nan had used to kill Han Xuan hurtling towards him. "Pu!" Before he could react, the blade had penetrated his skull, spilling a gruesome mix of blood and brain matter.
William collapsed to the ground. Liu Weiming was in shock, utterly astounded by the turn of events. As he watched Xiao Nan, Liu Weiming realized he had bet on the right horse. Xiao Nan glanced over at Liu Weiming and said, "I expect today's events to be kept secret, especially from the Wang family. You understand, right? Also, please handle the cleanup here." With that, Xiao Nan walked away, leaving Liu Weiming in a state of shock.
Inside the villa, the lights shone brightly, oblivious to the chaos outside. Upon Xiao Nan's return, he found his mother-in-law, Zhang Manli, and Wang Ziyan asleep. Only Wang Ziyun, Ziyan's younger sister, was still awake.
Wang Ziyun had just begun her freshman year of college and hadn't yet found a job.
Today was the weekend, with no classes at school, so she had come back home.
She was lounging in the living room, comfortably watching TV and chatting with a few close friends.
Earlier, she had been too intimidated to enter the living room because of Zhang Manli and Wang Ziyan.
Now that Zhang Manli had gone to bed, Ziyun took the opportunity to sneak in some TV time.
She was clad in a silk nightgown, its pink fabric loosely draped, inadvertently revealing more than intended.
Though young, she had developed quite maturely.
Upon realizing Xiao Nan had come home, Ziyun glanced his way and then frowned, "Didn't you see I'm watching TV? Can't you be quieter? Just change your shoes without making such a racket. Go on, wash some fruit for me to eat..."
She didn't bother with formalities like calling him brother-in-law, instead giving Xiao Nan orders and complaining about the noise he made while changing his shoes.
Xiao Nan had been as quiet as possible, yet he still faced such scolding.
This scenario had played out countless times over the past four years.
Xiao Nan remained silent.
Just as he had muttered to his master during a previous tribute, he had no choice but to bear it because of a vow he had made.
He walked to the other side of the living room, fetched some lychees, cherries, and apples from the fridge, washed them in the kitchen, and then brought them out.
After setting the fruit on the coffee table, Xiao Nan was ready to retire for the night.
Meanwhile, Ziyun burst into laughter before addressing Xiao Nan again, "My sister really settled marrying you. Tomorrow, the Wang family is hosting a gathering where they'll announce something important. Make sure you don't embarrass us, got it? Keep your words to a minimum there!"
