C15 Devil Fantasy World
Upon returning to his dormitory, the first thing Fei Liang did was hit the hay. But don't get it twisted—he was actually diving into the Spirit Bead Space for some training.
While Fei Liang sought training, Mao Yuntian saw things differently. But with persuasion failing to sway him, all that was left for Yuntian was to air his grievances.
"Meier, I've gotten a handle on the Apocalyptic Civilization, but I'm not keen on visiting just yet. Can you suggest some other civilizations that might be a good fit for me?" Fei Liang asked, lounging in the Spirit Bead Space with Meier at his side.
Thanks to a couple of boosts to his power, the Spirit Bead Space had shed its dreary grayness for a modest thirty-square-meter room, albeit devoid of any furnishings. Yet the space's enchantment lay in its responsiveness: a chair materialized the moment one sat down, a bed appeared when one lay down. Fei Liang had grown accustomed to this magic, though he still harbored a preference for tangible furniture—a habit that would take time to change.
The room's light source hung centrally, a beacon in the simplicity.
"Well, Mr. Fei, apart from the Human World, you can venture into the Wuxia, Magic, Crystal Card, and Technology Worlds. But bear in mind, you're only cleared for the Primary Civilization in the Technology World," Meier explained, intuiting Fei Liang's reluctance to face the Apocalyptic Civilization. After all, unease isn't something you can dispel by slaying zombies.
"Wuxia, magic, crystal card, technology... Let's rule out technology for starters; its Primary Civilization is too similar to Earth, and crystal card doesn't sound particularly thrilling. Meier, let's set our sights on the Magic Realm," Fei Liang decided after some thought.
"Understood, Mr. Fei," Meier responded. In a blink of white light, Fei Liang vanished.
In the Magic Realm, tucked away in a corner of the 16th star of the magical civilization, the sky was a brilliant azure. Here, black, dark green, and vibrant emerald trees wove a tapestry of color, with shrubs dotting the landscape in a seemingly haphazard yet harmonious pattern, creating an orderly natural tableau rather than chaos.
"Meier, is this what they call the magic civilization?" Fei Liang inquired, taking in the sights of the unfamiliar forest around him. A few peculiar little creatures were eyeing him with equal curiosity.
"Yes, Mr. Fei, you are currently in the fourth region of the magic civilization, within the Black Punishment Mountain Range, in the Devil Rat Forest of the 16th magic star."
"Black Punishment Mountain Range? Devil Rat Forest? The fourth region of the magic civilization? And what's this about 16 magic stars? Can you break this down for me, Meier? I'm totally lost here."
"The Black Punishment Mountain Range spans much of the Tianyun Empire and is a renowned range on the 16th magic star. The magic civilization's fourth region is simply the fourth designated area, and there are a staggering 356,127 life-sustaining planets within the magic civilization, categorized into seven regions based on life levels. The 16th magic star is the one we're on now, numbered by the system, though its actual name is Planet Ke La," Meier explained with patience.
"Wow, that's insane. Over 300,000 life-bearing planets in a magical world, and they choose this one?" Fei Liang marveled at the sheer number of planets, finding it hard to believe, especially when Earth's people struggled to find even one alternative habitable planet. "If I told anyone back home about this, they'd think I was crazy. Unless, of course, they decided to study me instead of calling me mad."
"That's because..."
"Never mind, I'll just stick to calling it the sixteenth star," Fei Liang muttered, smacking his forehead in a mix of frustration and awe.
"Okay, the reason is that the environment of the sixteenth star is most similar to Earth's. It orbits a star similar to our sun, named the Glorious Sun, completing its orbit in 416 days and rotating every 21 hours. The average temperature is a comfortable 16.7 degrees Celsius, and it's protected by an atmosphere. Moreover, the sixteenth magic star is capable of communication with 32 other civilized planets. The conditions are quite favorable," Meier continued.
"So that's the situation," Fei Liang nodded in understanding. "Which means that a sixteen-star rating is considered high-tier within the magical civilization." Being well-educated, Fei Liang quickly grasped the concept and inquired further.
"Exactly," Meier confirmed with a nod.
"How are the ranks within this magical civilization categorized? And where do I stand?" Fei Liang probed with curiosity.
"The magical civilization isn't as disordered as Earth. There are only two main types: mages and warriors, with warriors primarily being sword wielders, hence also referred to as sword users. Mages are classified into six ascending ranks: Magic Disciple, Mage, High Mage, Magister, Magic Siant, and Magic God. Similarly, warriors are categorized into six ranks: Sword Disciple, Sword User, Sword Master, Sword Saint, and Sword God. These correspond to Earth's Yellow Level, Profound Level, Earth Level, Heaven Level, Golden Core, and Nascent Soul, respectively. Rumor has it there's even a Super God level, akin to the Divinity Stage. As for you, Mr. Fei?" Meier gave him a quick glance. "No need for me to spell it out, you're merely in the late stages of being a Sword Disciple."
"Just a late-stage Sword Disciple? That's... disheartening," Fei Liang felt a surge of frustration. "How am I supposed to earn Realm Energy then?"
"You could start by hunting Level 0 and Level 1 Devil Beasts. Level 0 Devil Beasts are below Yellow Level, while Level 1 Devil Beasts are roughly equivalent to it."
"So, the highest level for a Devil Beast is Level 6?" Fei Liang inquired.
"No, it goes up to Level 9. A Magister can advance to a Magic Siant, a Magic Siant to a Magic God, and surpassing a Magic God is exceedingly difficult, which is why there are ranks like Great Magister, Great Magic Siant, and Great Magic God. Devil Beasts range from Level 1 to Level 9, corresponding to the ranks of Magic Disciple, Mage, High Mage, Magister, Great Magister, Magic Siant, Great Magic Siant, Magic God, and Great Magic God. Got it?" Meier's tone carried a hint of impatience.
"I understand," Fei Liang acknowledged with a nod, his gaze shifting to the peculiar little creatures nearby. His eyes sparkled with fervor; to him, these were pure world energy incarnate.
Elsewhere, in a space both mysterious and alien, a middle-aged man exuded a formidable presence, his golden eyepatch glinting as he sat in repose upon a lofty throne.
"What's going on?" he suddenly exclaimed, his voice a low murmur. Moments before, he had sensed a fleeting threat, a whisper of danger that rose from the depths of his being and vanished as quickly as it had come, as if it had never been there at all.
Was it merely a trick of the mind? His brow furrowed in confusion, the puzzle eluding him.
"Your Highness, do you require anything?" inquired a gaunt man from below the throne, clearly a trusted aide, upon hearing the middle-aged man's murmur.
"Nothing at the moment. You're dismissed. Wait—investigate any significant events that have occurred recently," the middle-aged man instructed, gesturing for the aide to depart before calling him back with a second thought.
"As you wish, Your Highness," the aide responded, pausing to bow before taking his leave.
Yet, the middle-aged man's unease lingered. As a renowned force among the powers of the world, such sensations did not come lightly to him, not even in passing.
Adopting a better-safe-than-sorry approach, he resolved to extinguish any potential threat before it could flourish, lest he find himself regretting inaction.
But the source of that unsettling feeling—where could it lie? Lost in contemplation, the man sank into a profound silence.
