C5 Spirit Bead Detect Cultivation
This time, Fei Liang finally escaped the grip of his recurring dream, allowing him to sleep with remarkable tranquility.
In this serene state, Fei Liang experienced a dream that was the polar opposite of his usual nightmares. He was immensely powerful, effortlessly turning formidable opponents to dust with a mere snap of his fingers, reigning supreme over all.
With a deep breath, Fei Liang's eyes fluttered open amidst the rush of excitement.
"Heh," he chuckled, only to be greeted by the sight of a broad, square face looming over him.
"Lee, what's the big idea?" Fei Liang exclaimed, startled. "I'm not into guys, you know."
"Cut it out, who's into guys? But man, it's great to see you're still with us, haha." Lee Shanfeng responded, then proceeded to envelop Fei Liang in a tight bear hug.
"Ow, Lee, ease up!" Fei Liang winced in pain, clearly his wounds were no minor matter. "You don't have to wish me dead just because you broke a few ribs."
Lee Shanfeng chuckled sheepishly and released his grip. "Sorry, sorry, I got carried away and almost forgot you're injured."
Fei Liang shot Lee Shanfeng a look and rolled his eyes in exasperation. The guy was clearly doing it on purpose, and his shamelessness knew no bounds.
After a long stare-down, Fei Liang finally spoke up. "Lee, I've noticed something."
"Yeah? What's that?" Lee Shanfeng asked, puzzled.
"You had a really sleazy laugh just now. Haha." Fei Liang burst into laughter, but then grimaced as he remembered the severity of his injuries from the night before.
"Are you looking for trouble? How are you feeling? The doctor said you've got three broken ribs and a fractured left arm. You're looking at a month or two before you can leave the hospital. How's it feel?" Lee Shanfeng was about to scold Fei Liang but changed his tone upon seeing his friend's pained expression. His chest heaved with barely contained anger, clearly still seething at the thought of someone hurting his brother.
"I'm fine, Old Zhang..."
"Don't say anything," Lee Shanfeng cut off Fei Liang's words, "Yuv Henn and Si have already taken care of it. By now, it's probably all settled. You don't need to worry."
Lee Shanfeng knew Fei Liang was headstrong and didn't want him to be at a disadvantage, so he had Yuv Henn and Mao Yuntian handle the situation. His intention was to preempt Fei Liang's concerns.
"By the way, Third Bro, how did you figure out your ribs were broken?" Lee Shanfeng asked, trying to divert Fei Liang's attention as he seemed eager to continue speaking.
But Fei Liang just shook his head. "Old Zhang, no sidestepping the issue. I know my own pain. From now on, let me handle what I can."
"Third Bro..."
"Trust me!"
"Okay, you're my brother, and I trust you!" Lee Shanfeng gazed into Fei Liang's eyes for a long moment, finding nothing but honesty and confidence, not a trace of panic. After a brief pause, he spoke up.
Even though Lee Shanfeng couldn't fathom the source of Fei Liang's newfound confidence, he decided to place his faith in him.
"Clap!" Their hands came together in a firm grip.
"Third Bro, you've woken up with so much more confidence. I don't know the reason, but confidence is always good. A confident man is the most attractive. Heh, heh," Lee Shanfeng chuckled with a hint of mischief.
"Heh, heh," Fei Liang joined in with a laugh, knowing well that his confidence stemmed from acquiring the Chaos Spirit Bead.
Previously, despite his hard work and a bit of luck getting him into a top-tier university, he couldn't help feeling somewhat inferior when comparing his life to the wider world. He might have kept it hidden, but it was something he couldn't completely conceal from Lee Shanfeng and the others.
But with the Spirit Bead in his possession, and having met the formidable man in black, Fei Liang's perspective had broadened far beyond his previous confines. With a wider view and an open heart, he naturally grew more confident.
"Meier, can you check on Lee Shanfeng's status for me?" Fei Liang communicated telepathically with Meier.
The night before, after getting a grasp of Earth's power structure and the hierarchy of strength, Fei Liang had assessed his own capabilities.
Fei Liang, age: 20; Spiritual Strength: 183; Physical Strength: 126; Reflexes: 104; Attack Power: 121; Defense Power: 117; Combat Power: 238; Burst Power: 32. (Individual Attribute Scale: Average person: 100, Standard Soldier: 200, Yellow Level Early Stage: 300, Mid Stage: 350, Late Stage: 400)
"Sure thing, Mr. Fei," Meier responded, promptly delivering Lee Shanfeng's details. "Name: Lee Shanfeng; Age: 22; Spiritual Strength: 465; Physical Strength: 472; Reflexes: 427; Attack Power: 481; Defense Power: 459; Combat Power: 938; Aggression Index: 41; Burst Power: 112; Cultivation: Yellow Level Late Stage."
"Meier, what's this aggression index?" Fei Liang inquired within his mind. He was familiar with the burst power index, which indicated the level of strength one could exert in their current state. Due to his injuries, Fei Liang could only utilize 30% of his full capacity. However, this was a cautious estimate; his power could surge if he were enraged or fighting for his life.
"The Aggression Index measures one's hostility towards another. It's typically 100 for strangers, but a score over 500 indicates a desire to kill," Meier clarified.
"Got it," Fei Liang acknowledged with a nod.
"Boss, what's got you grinning like that? You seem really pleased," Mao Yuntian remarked as he walked in, with Yuv Henn trailing behind. Despite Fei Liang's extensive mental exchange with Meier, only a moment had passed in the real world.
"Hey, what's up?" Lee Shanfeng asked, waving his hand cheerfully. "It's just that our Third Brother has gained some confidence."
"That's great news," Mao Yuntian chuckled. "No wonder you're in such high spirits, boss."
"Er, how's Qin Qiang doing?" Fei Liang inquired, aware that Yuv Henn and the others had made their move.
"Don't call me Er!" Yuv Henn retorted with a scowl.
"What does it matter what I call you?" Fei Liang grumbled, then decided, "Fine, I'll call you Old Zuo."
"Whatever you want," Yuv Henn replied nonchalantly.
"I'll fill you in." Mao Yuntian, who had quietly joined Fei Liang, paused before sharing, "With Second Brother stepping in, it's no surprise the outcome is severe. 'Bug' has five broken ribs, both arms are fractured, four sternum bones snapped, and a comminuted fracture in his left leg. He's not leaving his bed for months."
"Hah, that scoundrel! Serves him right," Lee Shanfeng roared with glee.
Fei Liang was taken aback by Yuv Henn's ferocity but expressed his gratitude nonetheless, "Old Zuo, thanks a lot."
"We're brothers; no thanks needed," Yuv Henn stated flatly, as if it was a trivial matter.
A wave of warmth swept over Fei Liang's heart.
"Meier, can you check on Yuv Henn and Mao Yuntian's status?" Fei Liang communicated silently with Meier in his mind.
"Right away, Mr. Fei." Meier was quick to respond, promptly gathering the information.
"Name: Yuv Henn; Age: 21; Spiritual Energy: 563; Body Strength: 563; Reflexes: 563; Attack Strength: 584; Defense Strength: 579; Combat Power: 1163; Attack Index: 67; Explosive Force: 136; Cultivation: Profound Level Early Period."
"Name: Mao Yuntian; Age: 18; Spiritual Strength: 590; Body Strength: 572; Reflexes: 567; Attack Strength: 593; Defense Strength: 587; Combat Power: 1180; Attack Index: 46; Explosive Force: 105; Cultivation: Profound Level Early Period."
"Is that so?" Fei Liang was surprised by the data. He hadn't expected the towering Lee Shanfeng to be the least advanced in cultivation among them, while the unassuming Mao Yuntian was actually the most skilled. It seemed that Lee Shanfeng might not be able to perform to his full potential in actual combat. Indeed, appearances can be deceiving.
After spending some time in conversation with Fei Liang, Lee Shanfeng and his companions excused themselves, citing Fei Liang's injuries and the need for his rest, and then they quietly closed the door behind them as they exited.
