C1 Admission notice
"Congratulations, Student Li Bei. You have been accepted by my school with excellent grades. Please report to me on XX Road in Beihai City by June 30th." After the college entrance exam, Li Bei received an unfathomable acceptance notice from his home.
The reason for this confusion was that the enrollment notice did not have the school name nor any form of contact.
Regarding this notice, Li Bei felt a little helpless. It had been almost two months since the end of the college entrance examination, and none of the students who filled in the matriculation form had come by. Just when he thought he was going to fail the exam, he suddenly made such a notice.
"Are you going? You don't even know what the name of this school is, are you a liar? " Li Bei hesitated, "If I don't go, will I have to go back to the exam or finish my studies? "What a troublesome matter."
He patted his head in frustration. If he couldn't even get into university, wouldn't he be mocked to death by his neighbors and relatives?
"After all, I'm still the descendant of a noble!" If he couldn't even get into a university, how could he get into a basket? "Let's go take a look at this school!" Libei spread her hands helplessly. In the end, she chose to compromise.
It was just a waste of money. Even if the other party was really a swindler, with his identity as a Count of his own Empire, he would not dare to do anything to him.
"Xiao Bei, is your university notice here yet?" During dinner, Li Bei's mother, Zhao Xiaolan, looked at her son with a benevolent expression. As she spoke, she scooped food into his bowl.
"This …" Libei touched her nose awkwardly as she stuttered.
Seeing his son in such a state, Li Bei's father, Count Li Ke, stared unhappily. "Hmph, what do you want to say?"
"Old Li, look at what you're saying. Don't scare the child." Zhao Xiaolan glared at Li Ke in dissatisfaction, causing the Count to roll his eyes helplessly.
"Dad, Mom, I have a notice!" With trembling hands, Li Bei took out the mysterious notice slip from his pocket and handed it over to his father.
Li Ke took the notice with an incredulous expression for a while. He roughly glanced through it, and then his expression changed to one of disbelief. Then, he carefully looked at it again.
"Father of the child, what's going on?" Zhao Xiaolan asked anxiously as she saw her husband remain silent.
"Li Bei, come to my room." Li Ke suddenly stood up, tightly holding the notice in his hand. He lifted his leg and walked towards his study.
This scene scared Zhao Xiaolan. "Xiao Bei, you haven't angered your dad recently, have you?"
"Of course not, mom. I've been extremely obedient recently. It's not like you don't know that those who don't take the first step and those who don't take the second step are almost as obedient as ancient feudal women," Li Bei said uneasily.
"Why aren't you coming in? Do you want me to wait for you?" Zhao Xiaolan wanted to say something, but was interrupted by a rude voice from the study room.
"Go, and follow your father more. If you can't do it, just call me mother," Zhao Xiaolan said in a low voice as she looked worriedly at the study room.
Li Bei nodded and walked into the study nervously. Closing the door, he pointed to a chair and said, "Sit."
"Dad, what are you doing?" Libei felt uneasy as she looked down at her father, who had a stern expression on his face.
"This notice is for you?" Li Ke pointed at the notice and asked uncertainly.
"You don't have any other sons, do you? Even if there are a few illegitimate children, their names should be different, right? " Li Bei swallowed his saliva. He suspected that his father had a screw loose today. His name was clearly written on the notice.
"Hun San, what are you talking about?" Li Ke choked on these words, "Are you trying to kill me?"
Li Ke's fear of his wife was something that was known by everyone in the Empire's upper class and even the entire aristocratic circle. With the words' illegitimate child 'coming out of his son's mouth, if word of this got out, he probably wouldn't be able to live.
"Eh. His family's food chain was like this: Li Ke was afraid of Zhao Xiaolan, while Zhao Xiaolan was afraid of Li Bei and Li Bei. He was also afraid of Li Ke.
"Are you going to go to this school?" Li Ke pointed at the notice and asked seriously.
No matter what, Li Ke was still a Count of the Empire. The entire Li Family was one of the top families in the entire Central Empire, and the ancestors of the Li Family were the founders of the Empire. Even now, the Li Family was still standing tall in the Empire, and it was all because of the words of the founding emperor: "If the Empire doesn't fall, the Li Family doesn't fall."
Although the aristocracy had slowly left the political stage of the empire, the wealth and connections they had accumulated for hundreds of years couldn't be compared to that of ordinary people. Therefore, although they didn't have any rights, their aristocratic lives still made Li Ke have the aura of someone in power.
"In this current situation, I'm afraid we have to go!" Li Bei said helplessly. The aristocrats were good in everything, but they didn't care about face at all. As the eldest son of the Li family's eldest son, if Li Bei couldn't even get into university, then he would be ridiculed by the entire aristocracy and even the Empire's upper class society.
"Hmm? "Why?" Li Ke asked in confusion.
It's all because of you, Dad!" Libei was about to cry. He only dared to say this in his heart, if he said it out loud, he would definitely be beaten half to death by Li Ke. "Then … then … then … then … then … I think he's a talent who will shine wherever he goes, what university doesn't matter?" "Li Bei explained helplessly.
"Talent? "Humph!" His own son, I'm afraid no one knows better than him, that Lee Bei has never been a worry-free person ever since he was a child. In his heart, Lee Bei is a smart person, tall and handsome, possessing the basic qualities of all the nobles in the empire, but there is one thing that people hate. Of course, this conceals all of his strengths, and that is, he's a popinjay.
Most of the children in aristocratic families had nothing to do with the silkpants, even after they grew up. The silkpants had the qualifications to do so, but Li Bei had always been one of them. Ever since she was a child, the silkpants had been making a pile of them.
Therefore, until now, Li Ke seemed to have forgotten what merits his son had to be called a talent.
"Dad, what do you think?" Li Bei lowered his gaze and asked in a low voice.
"What else can we do?" Li Ke glared at him. "Hurry up and go. I feel annoyed when I see you!"
When Li Bei heard this, he immediately nodded his head. Then, as if he had been granted amnesty, he eagerly left the study room. Watching his son leave, Li Ke helplessly sighed and muttered to himself, "I wonder if it's good or bad to let this child go?"
"What did your father say?" When Zhao Xiaolan saw Li Bei coming out of the study room, she immediately walked over and worriedly touched his body a few times. After confirming that there were no wounds, she heaved a sigh of relief.
"Go ahead!" His family's old man wanted to save face, and since his family couldn't afford to lose face, he could only spread his arms.
"Since you've decided, then let's go!" Zhao Xiaolan didn't read the notice nor did she know what school was inside. Since both father and son had agreed, then let's go; after all, it wasn't a big deal to let Li Bei stay at home to play. Of course, with the Li Family's wealth and power, let alone just Li Bei, even if it were ten Li Bei, the Li Family could live without worry for the rest of their lives.
"Ding dong, Ding dong." The Li family's front door rang. A servant walked over respectfully. "Madam, the young miss of the Zhan family is here to pay her respects to the young master. What do you say?"
"Little Bei, what do you think?" Zhao Xiaolan knew what the young mistress of the Zhan Clan was doing, so she looked at him.
"Are you bored?" Li Bei was depressed. How could she have the time to care about the young miss of the Zhan Clan?
"Yes, Young Master." The servant nodded and turned around to reply.
"Little Bei, since Purple Smoke came to see you, why don't you meet her?" Zhao Xiaolan said kindly. She naturally knew the young mistress of the Zhan Clan, because she was a child's wife that Li Ke had chosen before Li Bei was born. It was just that she was born a few years later.
Up till now, it was because of Li Bei's objection that Zhao Xiaolan was at a loss for what to do. As for Li Ke, he insisted on Li Bei's obedience.
Deep down, Zhao Xiaolan quite liked the young lady of the Zhan Clan. She was only fifteen years old, but her background was elegant and graceful. However, her status was far different.
Of course, Li Ke was not the type of person who had a strong sense of family. In addition, the current head of the Zhan Clan was someone who had once bled in the army and had once gone to war with them, so Li Ke was very optimistic about the marriage and was very concerned about it.
"See, see, see what? A little girl who hasn't fully matured yet. Mom, tell me, what was my dad thinking? Others are scams, but the old gramps is scammer! He's scampering me out of this son of his … "Li Bei muttered in dissatisfaction.
"You should lower your voice. If your dad hears it later, you'll be in trouble." Zhao Xiaolan rubbed her forehead with her fingers before rolling her eyes and walking away.
"Young Master, the young mistress of the Zhan Clan has said that if you don't see her, she won't leave," the servant replied again.
