C4 He Was a Quack

Ingolf was a formidable figure in the city. He owned a large group.

Every year, he paid tens of millions of dollars in taxes. Such a person demanded respect in these circles.

Polin was Ingolf's precious daughter, but her health had been poor ever since she was very young. All the older doctors in the hospital knew about it. So when Rowan looked at Elmer, his anger was justified.

Elmer frowned when he heard what the doctor said. But he was, after all, a doctor. Elmer said seriously, "I really can't put my hand down. Otherwise she will go into shock again, even if she doesn't die."

It was then that the old lady who had kept Elmer's bag with herself placed it in Elmer's hand. She hurriedly added, "Doctor, this young man knows medicine. He was the one who gave the girl first aid. Look at his medical book. It's still here."

"Medical book?"

Rowan took the medical book from the old lady's hand and flipped through it. Immediately, he smiled sarcastically. "What medical book is this? What is written on it? This boy is just fooling an ignorant person like you!"

Saying this, Rowan threw the medical book on the ground and kicked it next to the trash can. He looked at Elmer coldly and said, "I will give you another chance. Take your dirty hands off her immediately. Otherwise don't blame me for what I do next! I will ask the security to throw you out!"

"This is our family's ancestral medicine book. You can't throw it in the dustbin!"

Seeing how the doctor threw away his ancestral medical book like it was trash, Elmer's eyes started spitting fire. His left fist clenched tightly, but for the sake of the woman's life, Elmer said again, "If I release my hand, the venom in her body will continue to eat away at her heart. If there's not a lot of it, it will shock her, but if there's a lot, it will kill her."

"I don't know what's going on with Polin right now. But if your mistake makes us miss the best window of time for her treatment, would you bear the responsibility for it? Leave!"

Rowan snorted and slapped away Elmer's hand, which was holding Polin, to the side. His eyes were full of disdain.

Rowan was furious and determined. This was the daughter of the richest man in Lunamis. If he could cure her... Ingolf would reward him well.

He could not let a kid ruin his plan.

Watching the doctor's contemptuous actions, Elmer's gaze turned cold. He glanced at Polin on the bed and picked up the medical book. He swept the dust off the book and took the bag the old lady had given him. Then he turned around and started walking out of the ward.

Looking at Elmer's back, Rowan's disdain rose.

He hated such unskilled but arrogant young men. Such illnesses needed professional doctors like him for treatment. Seeing Elmer's shabby clothes, Rowan was irritated.

And the kid had the gall to say that if he released his hand, the girl would go into shock or die! This was purely conjecture! His hand was no longer on her. It had been more than ten seconds already, and there was nothing wrong with the girl.

However, in the next moment, a hurried voice reached everyone's ears. Rowan turned around and saw that the girl's entire whole body was convulsing!

On the ECG monitor, he saw that her breathing had suddenly decreased. Even her heart rate plummeted. It was very obvious that Polin, who was on the bed, was in danger.

"How can this happen!"

Rowan was suddenly panicking. Polin was about to die all of a sudden. He was not prepared for this at all. He did not know how to treat her right now!

Should he put her on oxygen? But she was about to stop breathing. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation? No, he knew Polin's condition very well. She had a heart problem. If he used CPR to stimulate the heart, he was afraid that he would really kill her!

If he really killed her, he would be in a world of trouble. Polin came from such a powerful family. Not only would he lose his job, he might lose something even more important. If her father blamed him for her death, then he might not even be able to keep his life!

Rowan immediately broke out in cold sweat. His whole body trembled. He was scared out of his wits.

"Doctor Rowan, why are you just standing here? The girl is going to die!" The old lady looked at Polin on the bed and urged Rowan anxiously.

She had felt that it was not good to be in the operating theater while the doctor was here and was ready to go out, but seeing the situation now, she could not be at ease. Rowan was going to kill her by doing nothing!

"I really don't know what to do. She's the daughter of the Watkins and has a problem with her heart. Now it seems the problem has suddenly erupted. There's no way to treat it anymore!"

Rowan's face was full of fear as he spoke incoherently.

Hearing this, the old lady stared at him with righteous anger. "You are a quack. Just now, the child told you that he can't move his fingers, but you refused to listen to him. Now, you are going to kill her!"

If he had listened to such a tirade earlier, Rowan would have been furious.

However, at this moment, he was struck with an idea. His eyes lit up. He hurriedly pulled Elmer in, who was walking out of the operating room. With a face full of pleading, he begged, "I didn't know you had skills. Please help me save her. If you cure her, I will do anything you ask me to!"

He looked at Rowan, whose facial expressions had suddenly changed. But Elmer was still expressionless. He said coldly, "Not interested. What does it have to do with me if you kill her? Before I get more angry, let go of my hand."

Rowan didn't let go of his hand after hearing this. In front of everyone's shocked eyes, he knelt down in front of Elmer. He slapped himself hard on the face and said, "Please, I'm begging you. I was wrong. I shouldn't have been so condescending. I shouldn't have doubted you. I should have listened to you. Please help me!"

Rowan regretted what he said earlier. For the first time in his life, he felt that he was truly stupid. This boy could stabilize Polin's condition with just a hand on her chest. How could he offend such a person? He had even mocked him!

Rowan felt despair when he saw that Elmer was still behaving indifferently. If Polin died, he would not be able to live anymore. Even if he lived, he would spend the rest of his life in prison. Thinking of this, it was as if he had suddenly lost his soul. His eyes became dull.

The old lady looked at Elmer and advised him earnestly, "Young man, this doctor may be a quack, but that little girl is innocent. We can't just leave her to die, can we?"

Elmer nodded and sighed heavily. He said, "Grandma, the lady is innocent. We can't just leave her to die, I know. But some people still need to be taught a hard lesson."
