C14 Hero Saving the Beauty
At Ungacy Clothing Group, in the CEO's office perched on the top floor, Shi Mingyu sat on the sofa, his face as dark as the bottom of a burnt pot.
"Ye Fan, damn you!" Shi Mingyu exploded in a rage. His plan to humiliate Ye Fan in front of Su Yurou had backfired, turning him into the butt of the joke instead.
The incident nearly drove him mad; he had never suffered such embarrassment, especially not in front of Su Yurou. His hatred for Ye Fan escalated to a terrifying degree, wishing he could plunge a knife into the young man.
"Boss, you wanted to see me?" The office door swung open, and a man in a suit strode forward, standing before Shi Mingyu with deference. "How's the investigation on that Ye Fan kid coming along?" Shi Mingyu inquired icily.
"We've got the details. He's the new PR Manager at Iris International, just hired a couple of days ago. Apparently, he once saved Miss Su's cousin," the man in the suit reported promptly.
"PR Manager?" Shi Mingyu paused, then his face twisted with fury. "The hell? When did Iris International get a male PR Manager? Su Yurou, that deceitful woman, has been playing the innocent with me all along. She must be involved with this kid. Go now, keep a close watch on this Ye Fan. I want him taught a lesson he won't forget!"
"Yes, boss."
Arriving at the base of Iris Tower in the early afternoon, just as the workday was resuming, the security guard at the entrance was the first to greet them. "Hello, Director Su!" Su Yurou acknowledged him with a nod.
"Hello, Director Su!"
As she proceeded, employees greeted her with restraint, while Ye Fan, walking beside her, went unnoticed.
The usually confident and commanding management team, all impeccably dressed women, couldn't help but lower their proud heads in Su Yurou's presence, nodding and bowing with tense faces.
As CEO, Su Yurou's presence was formidable. To the staff at Iris International, she was nothing short of a goddess: assertive, decisive, and business-savvy, commanding both their admiration and respect.
Ye Fan and Su Yurou stepped into the elevator together.
Upon reaching the Public Relations Department on the second floor, Ye Fan bid farewell to Su Yurou and proceeded to enter the office.
"Manager Ye, welcome." Mu Qingyu was busy with paperwork when she noticed Ye Fan's arrival and greeted him.
"Mmm." Ye Fan responded, noticing that Mu Qingyu seemed even more worn out than before, he sighed quietly without a word.
Settling into his chair, Ye Fan relaxed with his legs crossed and started to review the documents on his desk.
After some time, Mu Qingyu, unable to resist her fatigue, dozed off at her desk.
At that moment, a young and attractive female employee came in to drop off some documents, opening the office door.
"Qingyu, here's the plan for tomorrow's basketball game..."
"Shh!" Ye Fan rose from his chair, signaling to the female employee in a hushed tone, "Qingyu's exhausted. Let her rest for a bit. If there's anything you need, you can talk to me."
Noticing the air conditioning was set a bit high, Ye Fan adjusted the temperature and then draped his jacket over Mu Qingyu with great care.
"Wow, Manager Ye, you're so thoughtful." The female employee gazed at Ye Fan with starry eyes, clearly smitten.
Ye Fan felt a bit carried away and realized he needed to keep himself in check, lest he become prey to these formidable women.
"Ahem, let's focus on the matter at hand. You mentioned there's a basketball game tomorrow?" Ye Fan cleared his throat and inquired.
"Yes, here's the event proposal." The female employee said with a smile, handing over the document to Ye Fan.
As she passed the document, she deliberately brushed Ye Fan's hand, sending a ripple through him.
Such forwardness, was it really all right? Ye Fan felt a flush of warmth and a quickening pulse. He was at an age brimming with youthful energy. Though he had dated Dong Siwen, their intimacy had never gone beyond hand-holding and hugging, never crossing certain boundaries.
In plain terms, Ye Fan was a man with desires but lacking the boldness to act on them. The female employee's gesture left him feeling as if he'd been playfully harassed.
After the young woman left, Ye Fan settled into his chair and scrutinized the basketball competition proposal. It was a match between two companies, and the rival was none other than Shi Mingyu's firm. It was a clear case of bullying. He knew full well that Iris International's staff was predominantly female, yet he still suggested a basketball game. Ye Fan silently concluded that Shi Mingyu was up to no good.
It looked like Ye Fan would have to step in and save the day tomorrow. Given his innate mastery, playing basketball should be a breeze for him.
Mu Qingyu was evidently exhausted, sleeping through until the end of the workday.
Upon awakening, she realized her blunder and noticed Ye Fan's coat draped over her. Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
"I'm so sorry, Manager Ye! It's my fault. I'll find a way to make it right. Why... Why didn't you wake me?" Mu Qingyu asked anxiously.
"You looked so peaceful sleeping; I couldn't bear to disturb you. Don't worry about it. I took care of the basketball competition proposal that came in for you," Ye Fan replied with a reassuring smile.
Mu Qingyu, flustered and at a loss for words, could only muster an awkward response.
Observing Mu Qingyu's shy discomfort, Ye Fan approached and gently patted her shoulder, saying, "It's time to head home now. Go on and get some good rest tonight."
"Thank you," Mu Qingyu replied, taking a deep breath as her emotions swirled.
Just then, her phone rang.
"Mu Qingyu, where are you?"
The ominous tone on the other end of the line drained the color from Mu Qingyu's face, leaving her visibly shaken.
She quickly regained her composure and turned to Ye Fan, "Thank you, Manager Ye. I need to leave now."
With that, she hurried out of the office.
Ye Fan had noticed the change in Mu Qingyu's demeanor. His enhanced senses as an innate master allowed him to overhear the voice on the phone, piquing his curiosity. He suspected that Mu Qingyu was in some kind of trouble.
With nothing else pressing, he decided to discreetly follow her, ready to find out exactly what was happening.
Mu Qingyu's expression was frantic as she picked up her phone and asked, "How... how did you get my phone number?"
"Don't concern yourself with that. Listen, Mu Qingyu, tonight is your last chance. You better not disappoint me!"
Mu Qingyu clenched her teeth and pleaded, "Please, I'm begging you, let me go."
"Hehe, I might let you go, but it all depends on how you perform tonight. I'll be waiting for you at Dofil Lake Park at 7:30 PM. Make sure you show up, or I won't hesitate to pay a visit to your mother in the hospital."
Overwhelmed with despair, tears streamed down Mu Qingyu's exquisite face. She couldn't believe the man could stoop so low as to threaten her with her own mother's well-being.
After ending the call, Mu Qingyu left Iris International, looking utterly lost.
"Qingyu, is something the matter? You seem... upset," Ye Fan approached and inquired.
"It's nothing... really," Mu Qingyu replied, briefly meeting Ye Fan's gaze before quickly looking away.
Despite her attempts to conceal her distress, Ye Fan noticed the tears in her eyes. His heart, already tender, went out to her, especially since Mu Qingyu was such a petite and adorable beauty.
"If you're in trouble, feel free to talk to me. Believe me, I can help you sort it out," Ye Fan offered, smiling reassuringly.
"Manager Ye, thank you for your kindness. You're a good person. But I... I'm really okay," Mu Qingyu said, giving Ye Fan a meaningful look before turning and dashing off.
Ye Fan was left feeling somewhat powerless; it was clear she didn't quite trust him yet.
He sighed and watched as Mu Qingyu hailed a taxi. Compelled by concern, he called for another cab and followed her.
Ye Fan was still worried about Mu Qingyu. His instincts told him she could be heading into trouble, so he decided to see his commitment through and play the role of the hero coming to the rescue.
Mu Qingyu arrived at Dofil Lake Park by taxi.
Nestled against the mountains and waters, the park was breathtakingly beautiful. However, its secluded location meant that it was sparsely populated.
Mu Qingyu made her way into the park and settled onto a bench, her heart fluttering with anticipation as she waited.
Not far from her, Ye Fan sat on another bench, his gaze discreetly fixed on her. The time was only 6 PM, and there was still a ninety-minute gap before the moment he had learned about over the phone.
Intent on remaining unnoticed by Mu Qingyu, he delved into his thoughts, seizing the chance to meticulously examine his attribute panel to ensure he hadn't missed any details.
And so, the time passed until it was 7:30 PM.
