C4 The Wretched Fatty
Ye Fan approached the rotund man clad in a high-end suit, who seemed like the typical rich second-generation type. It was surprising to see someone like him applying for a job here.
Driven by curiosity, Ye Fan tapped the man on the shoulder and inquired, "Hey man, are you here for an interview as well?"
The man turned, gave Ye Fan a once-over, and despite Ye Fan's simple attire, he didn't show any contempt. "Interview? Nah, I'm here to meet girls. So, which lady from the public relations department caught your eye?"
Ye Fan cleared his throat and clarified, "Actually, I'm really here for an interview."
The man gave Ye Fan a skeptical look. "Come on, we both know why we're here. Drop the act and spill the beans. I promise I won't tell anyone."
Feeling exasperated, Ye Fan reiterated, "You've got it all wrong, I'm genuinely here for an interview."
The man scoffed, "That's not cool, man. The public relations department at Iris International is staffed entirely by women, and not just any women—they're the most beautiful in Blaland's business sector. And with Mu Qingyu as the interviewer, are you seriously telling me you're not here to flirt?"
"Damn! It's all women?"
Ye Fan was taken aback. That explained why Su Yurou had mentioned the job might not be a good fit for him. Ling Sixue had also mentioned they were short a PR Manager.
But Ye Fan didn't dwell on it. His goal was to get closer to Su Yurou, complete his mission, and earn energy. The prospect of working alongside so many beautiful women was an added bonus.
After a lengthy wait, it was finally Ye Fan's turn to interview.
He entered the office, and there sat the examiner, a stunning beauty with an air of elegance, her slender waist and long legs accentuated by black stockings—a sight to behold.
This must be Mu Qingyu, the woman the fat man had mentioned. Ye Fan couldn't help but be impressed once more. The fat man was right; the women at Iris International were of exceptional caliber.
"You... Are you certain you want to apply for the PR Manager position? Are you up for it?" Qingyu asked, her brows knitting together as she glanced over Ye Fan's application.
Men who apply to the public relations department often have ulterior motives, and this one even aspires to be the manager. His resume claims he's proficient in English and Tusmela.
Typically, candidates for the PR Manager role are expected to be fluent in both languages, but such talent usually skews older. Ye Fan appeared to be just over twenty, and she found it hard to believe he possessed such capabilities. He was probably just there to cause a scene.
"Absolutely, gorgeous examiner. I'm up for the challenge. A man's got to stand by his word!" Ye Fan said with a grin.
Qingyu blushed, then composed herself and said, "Very well, let's begin the assessment. It consists of two parts. We'll start with the first: you'll be given two language exams. Mr. Ye, you just need to score at least 60 on each to pass."
"Great, let's get started," Ye Fan responded confidently.
Half an hour later, in the president's office at Iris International.
Su Yurou was deep in discussion with Sixue, not giving much thought to Ye Fan's application.
There was a sudden, urgent knock at the door.
"Come in."
"Good morning, Director Su," Qingyu entered briskly, greeting Su Yurou.
"You seem quite worked up. What's going on?" Su Yurou inquired.
"Director Su, you've got to see this. A man came in today to interview for the PR Manager position. He... he scored full marks on the written exam!" Qingyu exclaimed.
Su Yurou felt a jolt of surprise. Could it really be?
Sixue's eyes widened in astonishment.
"What's his name?" Su Yurou asked.
"His name is Ye Fan."
"What?" Sixue gasped in disbelief.
"Full marks? That's incredible!" Su Yurou was astounded. She had encountered many prodigies over the years, but a young enigma like Ye Fan was a first.
"It's true, he got a perfect score. I have the test right here," Qingyu said, handing Ye Fan's exam over to Su Yurou.
Su Yurou took the paper and scrutinized it thoroughly.
The test paper featured a series of formal questions. For instance, the English section was as challenging as a professional level seven exam. Su Yurou had personally overseen its creation. Observing Ye Fan's answers, it was evident that they were correct.
Previously, an individual from the prestigious Huaqing University in Rocloilor had managed only to score eighty points. Achieving a perfect score seemed nearly impossible for the average person.
"Director Su, would you say this qualifies as passing the preliminary round?" Mu Qingyu inquired.
Su Yurou hadn't anticipated Ye Fan's potential to stay on, and she had been ready to offer him a sum of money to leave. However, given the current circumstances...
Taking a deep breath to compose herself, Su Yurou addressed Mu Qingyu, "Even though he's a man, our company is committed to fairness. Since he's passed the written exam, please inform him that he's scheduled for an interview this afternoon."
"Understood, Director Su," Mu Qingyu acknowledged with a nod.
Turning to Ling Sixue, Su Yurou continued, "I have other commitments this afternoon, so I'll need you to conduct the interview."
Ling Sixue nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, Ye Fan was idly sitting in the public relations department's office. He had hoped to venture out and admire the scenery, including the beautiful women, but it was nearing noon, and the office was nearly empty of both employees and interviewees.
Growing restless, Ye Fan perked up as Mu Qingyu finally reappeared.
"Ah, the lovely examiner, you've returned. How did it go?" Ye Fan greeted her with impatience.
"Congratulations, you've been summoned for an interview at 1:30 PM," Mu Qingyu replied, her smile warm.
"Great. It seems we're quite fated to meet," Ye Fan said, scratching his head with a grin.
"Fated? What do you mean?" Mu Qingyu asked, puzzled, as she had never encountered him before.
Checking his watch, Ye Fan explained to Mu Qingyu, "Take a look. My watch says it's 11:10 AM. What about yours?"
"What are you implying? Mine also reads 11:10 AM," Mu Qingyu said, glancing at her watch, her confusion growing.
"That's what I call fate. See, our watches are synchronized. If that's not fate, then what is?" Ye Fan declared confidently.
Mu Qingyu was at a loss for words. After a moment, she caught on and her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. She looked at Ye Fan and said, "You... You're quite the comedian."
"Just a little humor, don't take it to heart. Let's get acquainted—I'm Ye Fan. And you are?" Ye Fan launched into his charm offensive.
This guy had just claimed he wasn't here to flirt, yet here he was, doing just that. If that chubby fellow from earlier were to witness this, who knows if he'd give Ye Fan a piece of his mind.
Mu Qingyu's face grew even redder as she replied somewhat uneasily, "I'm Mu Qingyu, assistant to the PR Manager."
Ye Fan flashed a wide smile. "So, you're potentially my future assistant? What a small world! It must be destiny. Mu, the beautiful, I'm counting on your support in the days to come."
Mu Qingyu couldn't help but chuckle. "Mr. Ye, it remains to be seen whether you'll pass the interview. It's quite a rigorous process, you know."
"Fear not, I'm up for the challenge. You can count on me," Ye Fan assured her, thumping his chest confidently.
After chatting a bit longer, Mu Qingyu left the office to head home.
Ye Fan found the conversation with such an innocent and sweet beauty quite pleasant and was now genuinely excited about his prospective job.
Exiting the office, he noticed the building was nearly empty. With time to kill, Ye Fan began to wander around the premises.
He made his way to the employee lounge and as he entered, a delicate scent wafted through the air, reminiscent of a woman's perfume.
As Ye Fan meandered through the lounge, he stumbled upon a familiar face—the same plump man he had encountered earlier, who was now engrossed in his computer screen.
Driven by curiosity, Ye Fan approached him.
In the next instant, Ye Fan shuddered. What had he just seen?
