C5 I Am a Good Person
The sudden appearance of the woman infuriated Labino. Why should villains get away with bullying the young master while she couldn't seek vengeance for him? "Are you here to assist these scoundrels? If so, don't expect any courtesy from me."
"For the young master, ah..." Labino's wrists emitted a faint mist as she swiftly unlocked Zhong Tingyue's restraints, then crouched to free her ankles. Liberated, Labino clenched her fists and charged at Zhong Tingyue, ready for a showdown.
"Yo? To think that Xiaoxiao has cultivated genuine energy at such a tender age. She's truly a prodigy, nearly at the level of a Bronze Silver Knight," Zhong Tingyue observed without urgency. As Labino charged, Zhong Tingyue flicked her wrist, summoning a water shackle far more formidable than the previous one to ensnare Labino.
Labino struggled in vain against Zhong Tingyue's binding. "Release me! I must avenge the young master."
"Hahaha!" Chen Wenkai, who had been downed, got back to his feet and taunted, "What's the matter, little girl? Come at me. I'm right here."
As Chen Wenkai moved toward Labino, intending to slap her, he suddenly found himself restrained by water shackles identical to Labino's. "Mage girl, I command you to release me, or you'll regret it!"
"And how will you make me regret it?" Zhong Tingyue pulled a medal from her pocket, its insignia revealing her status as a Level 5 Archmage. "Level 5 Archmage Zhong Tingyue—you must have heard of me."
"The talented Mage Zhong Tingyue? Is it really you?" Recognizing Zhong Tingyue's identity, Chen Wenkai lost his bravado. This lady was the Magic Kingdom's youngest Archmage, and her father was even more formidable. He had no business crossing someone of her stature. The thought of his family's reaction to him antagonizing a member of the Magic Parliament was enough to make him shudder—they would surely discipline him severely.
"Now, gather your cronies and scram!" Zhong Tingyue released Chen Wenkai, utterly disgusted by his presence.
Chen Wenkai was granted his freedom and promptly left the scene.
Once Wenkai was gone, Zhong Tingyue released Labino from her restraints. "Little girl, your adversary has fled. Do you still feel like fighting?"
"Hmph, you wicked woman!" Labino said, her voice tinged with sadness as she placed Xiaobao into a large basket, preparing to carry him back home.
Zhong Tingyue intercepted Labino. "Hold on, little one, there's no need to rush off."
"What do you want? I must hurry back to assist the young master with his wounds. Just go away; Labino doesn't want to see you, you vile woman!" Labino, frantic with concern, hoisted Xiaobao onto her back and dashed toward Liu Manor.
Watching Labino's retreating figure, Zhong Tingyue remarked, "Little girl, the clinic isn't in that direction. Where are you headed?"
Ignoring Zhong Tingyue, Labino continued on her way. Zhong Tingyue chuckled to herself, "Such a headstrong child. It's surprising that a scoundrel like Xiaobao would have such a devoted little maid. Well, I might as well visit Liu Manor myself to tend to Xiaobao's injuries. Despite his faults, he did help that mother and son."
As the crowd thinned out, the injured mother remained, tears streaming down her face as she cradled her son. The boy appeared to have been knocked unconscious, with wounds on his mouth and arm still bleeding.
"Is it that serious?" Zhong Tingyue, whose view had been obstructed by the crowd earlier, hadn't realized the extent of their injuries. Now, seeing them up close, she could tell the boy had been gravely hurt. Had she not intervened with Xiaobao's help, the boy might have been beaten to death.
Zhong Tingyue retrieved a small wand from her pocket, which grew to her height as she grasped it. The ice core staff, an epic-grade water wand, was designed to enhance the mana regeneration and power of water Mages.
"Healing Rain," a spell reserved for Level 5 Archmages, was her choice of healing magic. Pointing the wand at the mother and son, a gentle rain began to fall above them. As the raindrops touched them, the mother's wounds swiftly healed, and her body returned to peak condition. The son's injuries also closed up, the bleeding at his mouth ceased, though he remained unconscious.
The mother observed the transformation in herself and her son, continuously expressing her gratitude. "Thank you, Miss, for your assistance. Thank you so much."
"Madam, please take your son home. He should be fine after some rest," came the reply.
"Miss, do you know the identity of the young master who rescued us? I must thank him for saving our lives," the mother inquired.
"That would be Liu Xiaobao, the young master of Liu Manor," Zhong Tingyue reluctantly informed the mother and son of his identity.
"Ah, that Liu Xiaobao? The notorious one?" The mother was incredulous that their savior was such a notorious figure, but she acknowledged the need to express her gratitude in person since he had saved her and her son.
Having left with her unconscious son, the mother departed while Zhong Tingyue made her way back to the second floor of the jewelry store.
Upon reaching the top of the stairs, Zhong Tingyue addressed Xijun, "Xijun, it looks like you'll need to accompany me."
"What's the matter? Do I need to go in person?" asked Xijun. "Hasn't the situation been resolved?"
"Yes, the incident is over, and I've healed the mother and son's injuries. However, Liu Xiaobao was taken home by his little maid," explained Zhong Tingyue.
Xijun, who hadn't seen which way Labino had gone, questioned, "Why didn't the little girl take Liu Xiaobao to the clinic?"
"I'm not sure. They probably can't afford the treatment," Zhong Tingyue speculated, recalling the morning's gossip about Liu Xiaobao attempting suicide due to lack of funds. "The mother and son were critically injured. I've exhausted all my magic healing them, so now it's up to you to treat Liu Xiaobao."
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's hurry. Liu Xiaobao's injuries look severe; he was knocked unconscious," Xijun stated, aware that they were responsible for his condition and feeling a sense of obligation to make it right.
Back at Liu Manor, Labino rushed her young master inside. She gently laid Liu Xiaobao on the bed and started to heal him using her genuine energy combined with her medical skills.
"Young Master, you must pull through. I'm so sorry, Labino was unable to protect you properly," she lamented while attending to his wounds.
After losing consciousness, Liu Xiaobao found himself standing on a vast cloud, complete with a table and a chair. A woman he despised was seated there, engrossed in her phone.
"Is this a dream? How did I end up on a cloud? Could I be dead again? Have I finally become a good person and ascended to heaven?"
"Damn it, what are you doing here? My random act of kindness helping that mother and son—don't tell me it was your doing?" Liu Xiaobao strode towards the girl with the phone, his anger palpable.
The girl was Yinyin, the one who had summoned Liu Xiaobao and cast him into the world of the Three Pure Ones.
"What's all this noise about? You're not dead. This is merely a spiritual space I've created for you," Yinyin explained.
Liu Xiaobao's memory clicked. "It's you! You're the voice from the karma system. No wonder it sounded so familiar. But why maintain such a system? It's so impersonal, like talking to a robot."
Yinyin replied, "Would you understand otherwise?"
"But why transport me to the Three Pure Ones World? My memories of it are quite pleasant. What's there to save?"
"Stop asking so many questions. Just enjoy your life. The karma system I've given you is incredibly powerful—beyond your wildest imagination. It will let you move unimpeded throughout the Three Pure Ones World." Yinyin mused internally, confident that such a lure would be irresistible to a homebody like him.
Sure enough, Liu Xiaobao was already buzzing with excitement. "I knew it! A transmigrator without a cheat code is unheard of. So, my cheat is system-based. I thought I had a genius-type advantage, which would really suit my identity."
Reflecting on the day's embarrassing encounters at the Knight Alliance and Mage League, and the injuries sustained from Chen Wenkai, Liu Xiaobao inquired, "Yinyin, could you give me a detailed explanation of this karma system? I nearly got beaten to death today, and the system didn't seem to help at all."
Yinyin explained, "The karma system won't instantly transform you into a powerful individual. It's a gradual process."
"Got it, got it. So, what's next?"
"You must continually accumulate karma and use it to enhance yourself. Each time you level up, you'll unlock a brand new system and there are plenty of rewards too!"
"How do I become stronger? And how can I earn karma?" Liu Xiaobao's outlook on life was becoming increasingly optimistic.
"To earn karma, you simply need to be a good person, help those who are struggling, and assist all the kind-hearted people who need it. Do more good deeds."
Liu Xiaobao complained, "That sounds so complicated. Where am I supposed to find so many opportunities to help others? Yinyin, isn't there something else that can make me stronger? Something simple and quick?"
"No, now leave me alone. You're interrupting my phone time." Yinyin, clearly annoyed, waved her hand and a whirlwind swept Liu Xiaobao off the cloud. The last thing Liu Xiaobao heard from Yinyin was, "Keep doing good deeds. Once you've accumulated enough karma points, I'll remind you in your mind what to do next."
"Ahhh!" Liu Xiaobao screamed as he plummeted from the cloud.
"Young Master, you're awake? You nearly scared Labino to death." Labino was still administering healing to Liu Xiaobao, who lay shirtless on the bed. Labino continued to gently stroke Liu Xiaobao's body, channeling genuine energy to heal his wounds.
"Labino, stop crying. The Young Master is alright. No more touching; it's not proper for men and women to be so hands-on," Liu Xiaobao, now conscious, halted Labino's excessive behavior. Unaware that Labino was healing him, he quickly dressed and admonished her, "Labino, as a young woman, you shouldn't touch a man's body so casually, nor should you be too close to a man. Understand?"
Labino replied, feeling wronged, "But I need to heal the Young Master."
"Even for healing, that's not how we do things. If there's an illness, medicine is the answer."
"Understood. Labino will go buy medicine for the Young Master right away." With that, Labino dashed off.
Liu Xiaobao called out to her, "Labino, don't forget to bring back some tasty food. Use the money you've earned to buy it, so we can enjoy a great meal tonight."
"Labino understands," I acknowledged.
Watching Labino depart, Liu Xiaobao chuckled and said, "That girl, always in such a rush. But I like that about her. Hehehe."
