C6 I Won't Get Any Good Results
Su Mo's one-man show inside the grand hall elicited a look of relief on the Blade Sovereign's face, who stood just outside. Truthfully, the Blade Sovereign had harbored real concerns that Su Mo might simply rip through the fabric of space and vanish. An Almighty of the Immortal Platform Stage like Su Mo defied conventional wisdom.
While Su Mo hadn't rejected being called 'master,' he hadn't formally accepted a disciple either. Typically, a solid master-disciple bond is cemented with a ceremony, marking the official entry into the sect. Without this ritual, the relationship remains noticeably estranged. Yet, when Su Mo's disciple addressed him as 'junior brother' in Su Mo's presence, it signaled an implicit acceptance of their bond. Previously, Su Mo had skirted around confirming his disciple's formal status with evasive answers.
"Today's small step is tomorrow's giant leap," the Blade Sovereign mused, his fists clenched with resolve. He strode forward to retrieve the bisected blade, intending to present it to a senior brother he had yet to meet as a welcoming gift. Despite being broken, the blade's hilt housed decades of his cultivated blade qi.
In Uttarakuru, the Dragon Transforming Nine-change masters were more than a mere trio. What earned him a place among the top three? The answer was the lifetime of blade qi he had honed, capable of splitting mountains and standing toe-to-toe with a half-step Immortal Platform Stage powerhouse. Offering the broken blade to his senior brother was, therefore, no trifling token.
"Besides the Heaven-Splitting Blade, I need to prepare a few other items. Yet, I'm unsure of Senior Brother's exact level of cultivation." The Blade Sovereign fished out several elixirs, only to tuck them away again. Without knowing his Senior Brother's precise level, gifting pills might come off as crass and do more harm than good.
"I'll wait for Senior Brother to emerge," he decided, holding the broken blade firmly, his gaze fixed on the hall, his face awash with anticipation. Time slipped by, and before long, half an hour had passed.
With a creak, the spatial fluctuations finally ceased, and the grand hall's main doors swung open slowly. A dashing young man clad in black stepped into view, catching everyone's attention.
"Senior Brother?" Blade Sovereign asked, looking at Su Mo with a hint of uncertainty.
"Junior Brother, Master has filled me in on your situation. Let's not be strangers," Su Mo replied, dismissing the formality with a wave of his hand. "You don't have to call me Senior Brother anymore. If it's alright with you, I'll call you Big Brother, and you can call me Younger Brother."
"That's out of the question! We can't just disregard the rules!" Blade Sovereign's face tensed as he quickly objected. "Senior Brother, I joined the sect after you. No matter my age, I am and always will be your junior brother."
"Thick-headed... but I like that," Su Mo said with a smile, pleased with Blade Sovereign's response. It showed that Blade Sovereign didn't see him as an outsider and also hinted at his deep-seated fear of the Immortal Platform Stage Almighty who had slain Di Shitian—Su Mo himself.
"Speaking of which, Senior Brother, Master mentioned that she is now your servant. She'll do whatever you need," Blade Sovereign said, nodding toward Shen Muxi, who looked rather dismayed. "She's attained the Third Layer of Dao Palace cultivation. With your permission, Senior Brother, I could place a few seals within her to guard against any unforeseen dangers."
"No, please! Don't put any more seals in me. My body can't take any new ones," Shen Muxi blurted out, trembling at the sound of Blade Sovereign's voice as she hastily made her case.
"Can't take new seals?" Blade Sovereign paused, then extended his senses to probe Shen Muxi.
After a brief investigation, his expression darkened. Shen Muxi was telling the truth; her body was riddled with seals. Specifically, she bore a Third Layer seal, each more formidable than the last.
Blade Sovereign looked grave. By his estimation, the Third Layer seal within Shen Muxi could only have been left by an Immortal Platform Almighty.
It was clear that among Shen Muxi's circle of relatives and friends, there must be a powerhouse at the Immortal Platform Stage.
"Master really is remarkable, finding such a celestial figure to serve as your maid."
Blade Sovereign's respect for Su Mo deepened even further.
Su Mo's standing in the Immortal Continent appeared to be more formidable than he had initially thought.
It was quite possible that Su Mo's cultivation had reached the pinnacle of the Immortal Platform!
"No need for seals. Despite being at the Sea of Bitterness Realm, handling Shen Muxi, who is at the third layer of the Dao Palace, is well within my capabilities."
Su Mo gestured dismissively, signaling to Blade Sovereign that there was no need to focus too much on Shen Muxi, and smoothly shifted the conversation. "After your ascension to the Immortal Platform Stage, junior brother, could you now be considered the ruler of the entire Uttarakuru Continent?"
"To claim such a title would be presumptuous. Uttarakuru is far more complex than it appears. There are influential families, sects, and even ancient figures who have survived from bygone eras."
Blade Sovereign shook his head as he clarified.
"Survivors from ancient times?" Su Mo asked, intrigued.
"Uttarakuru is known as the Abandoning Continent. The rules there are oppressive, making it nearly impossible for those at the Immortal Platform Stage to remain for long. Overstay, and they face the rules' punishment, leaving them with only two options: depart the continent or enter into self-imposed stasis."
As a leading figure in Uttarakuru, Blade Sovereign was privy to many such secrets.
The elders and leaders of the six major sects, upon hearing Blade Sovereign reveal these hidden truths, swiftly sealed the perceptions of their respective elders and disciples.
Certain knowledge, like that shared between Su Mo and Shen Muxi, was safe for them to possess, but for the more vulnerable elders and disciples, such information could spell catastrophe.
Sealing their senses now was a precaution, lest Blade Sovereign later unleash a deadly rampage.
Despite Blade Sovereign's affable demeanor with Su Mo, the Blade God Hall he founded was notorious for its ruthlessness and swift justice.
"You're considering self-sealing, junior brother?"
Su Mo looked at Blade Sovereign, taken aback by the revelation.
I'd just secured a junior brother with formidable power as my supporter, and before I could even reap the benefits, it feels like my trial period is about to run out.
"That's correct. I can sense it clearly—the force of the rules will descend in three days. Then, I'll have no choice but to seal myself away or leave the Reed Region for other continents."
Blade Sovereign nodded gravely, "Senior Brother, come with me to the Blade God Hall. Once I've sealed myself, you'll take the reins."
"Take the reins? As if."
Su Mo nearly let slip a swear word.
Sure, Blade Sovereign recognized him as his senior brother, but would the rest of the Blade God Hall acknowledge that?
Facing the Blade God Hall's elders and prodigious disciples on his own could blow his cover in no time.
Instead of heading to the Blade God Hall, it would be wiser to return with the patriarchs of the six major sects.
With the backing of these sect elders, how could he fail to thrive?
Who knows, Ling Xuzi and the others might shower me with abundant cultivation resources to win me over, propelling me toward the Dao Palace Stage or even the Nirvana Stage in no time!
With this in mind, Su Mo spoke with conviction, "Junior brother, our Master left me behind primarily for training. Consider this: would going to the Blade God Hall truly serve that purpose? If Master returns and finds my cultivation still stuck at the Sea of Reincarnation Stage, both of us are in for a world of trouble."
