C18 It Was Not That Simple

Jiang Zicheng had always been distant towards Yu Haifeng.

Yu Haifeng couldn't grasp what Jiang Zicheng was thinking at the moment.

Nevertheless, he kept extending invitations to her.

"Yu Haifeng, stop pestering me. I've just arrived and have a ton of things to sort out."

Jiang Zicheng flatly turned down Yu Haifeng's invitation.

A look of anger flashed across Yu Haifeng's face.

He hadn't anticipated Jiang Zicheng's complete disregard for his feelings.

This infuriated him.

As he was about to respond, Xiao Han happened to walk by Jiang Zicheng.

Upon seeing Xiao Han, she quickly approached him.

"Xiao Han, I can't thank you enough for today."

"As a token of my gratitude, I'd like to take you out for a meal."

While speaking, Jiang Zicheng shot a disdainful glance at Yu Haifeng.

Xiao Han could sense Jiang Zicheng's dissatisfaction with Yu Haifeng.

Just as Xiao Han was about to decline, he caught the pleading look in Jiang Zicheng's eyes.

He realized she was silently asking him to help get rid of Yu Haifeng.

After a brief pause, he spoke deliberately.

"If that's truly what you want, then I'll accept your invitation. However, I'd prefer it if we didn't have any uninvited guests."

Xiao Han's statement was a clear jab at Yu Haifeng, almost explicitly stating his wish for Yu Haifeng not to tag along.

Yu Haifeng's face twisted with rage, and he stormed up to Xiao Han.

"Kid, you'd better scram. Jiang Zicheng is my fiancée."

"Cross the line with her, and I won't let you off the hook."

Yu Haifeng bellowed at Xiao Han.

With a slight smirk, Xiao Han retorted,

"What are you implying? She and I are merely classmates. What's the harm in accepting her dinner invitation, especially after I saved her today?"

"And if you're not willing to back off, maybe we should settle this on the field. I'll be waiting for you at the playground."

As Xiao Han finished, Yu Haifeng was left speechless.

His entire body was trembling non-stop, a clear sign of his terror and unease.

It was understandable, given his knowledge of Xiao Han's formidable strength. The Yu family had endured significant hardship at Xiao Han's hands. Despite his anger, he knew better than to act impulsively.

"You're ruthless," Yu Haifeng remarked before departing, cautioning Jiang Zicheng, "That guy's nothing but a complete hypocrite. Be careful around him."

With those final words, Yu Haifeng turned and left. Once alone, Jiang Zicheng's face softened into an expression of gratitude. "Thank you for your help. Once again, you've saved me."

Jiang Zicheng couldn't help but feel a bit helpless. She wasn't fond of Yu Haifeng and was well aware of the kind of man he was. Despite an engagement between them, she had tried to accept him, but it was impossible. His arrogance was simply too irritating, a fact Xiao Han knew all too well, as evidenced by the wry smile on his face.

"Your issue is resolved, so I'll take my leave now," Xiao Han said, turning to go.

But Jiang Zicheng stopped him, smiling. "I was serious about treating you to dinner. Now that the pesky guy is gone, I'd like to keep my word."

Xiao Han was inclined to decline, but faced with Jiang Zicheng's determination, he reluctantly agreed.

Fuming, Yu Haifeng stormed back home. Yu Tianhai noticed his rage and asked curiously, "What's got you so worked up? You look as if someone owes you millions."

"It's not as simple as money," Yu Haifeng replied with a sigh. "I feel like someone's trying to undermine me."

Understanding the implication, Yu Tianhai responded with anger, "Who dares to mess with the Yu family? I want to see who has the nerve."

After Yu Haifeng explained the situation with Xiao Han, Yu Tianhai's face broke into a slight smile, having heard the full story.

It was clear that he had taken an interest in the matter.

In particular, Xiao Han, whom Yu Haifeng had spoken of, piqued Yu Tianhai's curiosity even more.

"I've just returned from abroad, and my abilities have reached the middle period of a Spirit Weaver."

"The kid you're talking about seems quite capable. I'm eager to see just how wide the gap is between him and me."

Yu Tianhai, having learned about Xiao Han's prowess, was excited about the prospect of clashing with him.

Especially since this individual had wronged the Yu family on numerous occasions.

He was intent on reclaiming his lost honor.

Due to Meng Huo, some of the Yu family elders refrained from taking action against Xiao Han.

But it was different for the younger generation—it was merely a matter of seeking guidance among peers.

Even if Meng Huo were to intervene personally, they could justify their actions.

Yu Haifeng was thrilled when he heard that Yu Tianhai was willing to help him discipline Xiao Han.

His face lit up with excitement.

"If you're serious about helping me, I can lead you to him right now. He passes by here every day on his way home."

"We must give him a lesson he won't forget."

Anticipation was written all over Yu Haifeng's face; he couldn't wait to see Xiao Han begging for forgiveness.

He was well aware of Yu Tianhai's formidable strength, honed during his time studying abroad.

Now at the middle period of a Spirit Weaver, he was undoubtedly capable of overwhelming Xiao Han.

Yu Haifeng led Yu Tianhai to the route Xiao Han always took.

They waited there for quite some time until Xiao Han finally made his appearance.

As Xiao Han walked by, the two sprang into action.

Seeing Yu Haifeng, Xiao Han's brow furrowed in annoyance.

"You're quite the nuisance."

Xiao Han's words were not in jest; he knew that Yu Haifeng's sudden appearance meant trouble.

Yu Haifeng remained silent, taking a deliberate step forward.

"So you're Xiao Han?"

Yu Haifeng's voice reached Xiao Han's ears.

Xiao Han gave a slight nod in response.

"Seeing you with Yu Haifeng, I assume you're associated with the Yu family?"

Xiao Han voiced his speculation.

A sneer crossed Yu Tianhai's face as he began to speak slowly.

"You're not worthy of that information. Just remember, from today onwards, whether you encounter me or him, you'd do well to keep your head down and scurry away with your tail tucked."

Yu Tianhai brazenly taunted Xiao Han to his face.

Xiao Han's brows furrowed slightly at the provocation.

"Quite the bold words. Aren't you afraid of biting off more than you can chew?"

Having said his piece, Xiao Han had no interest in engaging with the two tiresome individuals before him any longer.

He made to leave.

But at that moment, Yu Tianhai blocked his path.

"Thinking you can just walk away? I'm afraid it's not going to be that easy."

No sooner had the words left his mouth than a formidable power erupted from Yu Tianhai.
