C10 Blueberry Chinese Yam
"In reality, most folks who attend the Village Feast are from the village itself. They'll come back to enjoy the meals they've prepared, so there's no concern about taste or cleanliness," Faang Hua explained, wanting to ensure the live stream audience understood.
"You're spot on, Mr. Hua. Yet, there's a variety in Flowing Feasts. Take the dishes you've made, for instance—the presentation is so professional that placed beside those from a city's grand hotel, no one could spot the difference," Tian Tian chimed in, her sparkling eyes seemingly speaking volumes. Her skin was flawless, her style trendy, yet she lacked the city dwellers' air of superiority, making her company utterly pleasant.
Mrs. Taohua was delighted, "I'm so glad you're getting along—I can't make heads or tails of what Tian Tian talks about."
"Don't just talk—come eat! Tian, give it a try. Hua's culinary skills aren't just for show; the flavors are exceptional."
"Oh my, Mr. Hua, what's this dish? It's so white, and is that blueberry sauce on top?" Mrs. Taohua asked, her curiosity piqued by the Blueberry Chinese Yam.
"Auntie, this is Blueberry Chinese Yam. It's a delightful mix of sour and sweet, and it won't stick to your teeth. Just taste it and see," Hua encouraged.
"Blueberry Chinese Yam? I always thought Chinese yam was only good for stir-frying. I had no idea it could be prepared like this. Let me give it a shot," Mrs. Taohua said, taking a spoonful to her mouth, her face breaking into a smile instantly.
"This Blueberry Chinese Yam is scrumptious—tangy and sweet, not sticky in the slightest, and it really whets the appetite!"
"Really, Mom? Then I've got to try it too," Tian Tian eagerly joined in, her eyes brightening upon tasting. "This is delicious. I've had this dish in a city restaurant before, but the yam puree wasn't as smooth as Mr. Hua's, which made a difference in taste. Today's visit was perfect timing!"
As Mrs. Taohua and Tian Tian continued to chat and eat, the rest of the group looked on in amazement.
"Hey, you two, slow down a bit! The rest of us haven't even had a taste yet—don't finish it all!"
"Go ahead and grab what you want, but this Red Braised Fish is all mine."
Conversation ceased as everyone eagerly dove into their meals.
The village's Flowing Feast was a casual affair; the main goal was to enjoy a hearty meal. But some of the aunts and grandmas who brought their kids tended to be a bit pushy, making sure their little ones got whatever they fancied.
Some even whipped out plastic bags to take extras home.
But this behavior wasn't exclusive to the countryside; you'd find it in the city too.
"This Blueberry Chinese Yam is so good, Grandma, I want more!"
Upon hearing her grandson's request, an elderly lady quickly scooped the Blueberry Chinese Yam towards her, prompting other kids at the table to clamor for a taste as well.
The grandma got busy, divvying up the dish among the eager children.
"The Blueberry Chinese Yam just melts in your mouth, it's absolutely delicious."
"It tastes like a cheese stick, but even better! Poor Erdan, you haven't had any. You're missing out."
The dish was shared out so swiftly that Erdan's grandma didn't manage to get any for him. Erdan had been enjoying the meal until he heard his friend's comment, which left him feeling dejected and he burst into tears.
"Grandma, I want the Blueberry Chinese Yam too."
Erdan thumped the table with his little hands, a mix of frustration and reluctance to part with the tasty food he was already eating. His chopsticks remained firmly in his grip as he continued to eat, his vexation growing.
"My dear, it's all gone. Why not enjoy the other dishes?" Erdan's grandma tried to console him.
But Erdan was resolute, upset at being the only one without the treat. His fussing became too much for his grandma to handle.
"I want it, I really do!"
"Oh dear... Alright, you stay here. I'll go see if any of the other tables have some left."
With a heavy heart, Erdan's grandma laid down her chopsticks and set off.
"Does anyone have any Blueberry Chinese Yam left? My grandson would love some."
