C19 Marriage
The aroma of these dishes was indeed tantalizing, but was it really as sensational as they said?
"Did Hua really make this? With his skills, he managed to cook something like this?" Faang Jin marveled, his tongue clicking in disbelief.
"Why are you so surprised? Remember how Hua excelled at everything back in primary school? He even learned from his dad. It's only natural he'd have such talent in the kitchen," Huang Mei said, her arms folded across her chest, a proud smile on her face.
Faang Jin's lips twitched involuntarily. With a sigh, Faang Lan resignedly pulled out her phone to give Faang Hua a call.
Faang Hua had just finished up his tasks. Seeing Faang Lan's incoming call, he answered immediately.
"Lan, have you all arrived?"
"Yes, brother, we're right outside Uncle Liang's house. Where are you?" Faang Lan asked, scanning the surroundings.
Given Faang Hua's tall and handsome stature, he should stand out in the countryside.
"I'm in the kitchen, dressed in a chef's uniform, spoon in hand."
The kitchen for the Village Feast wasn't a typical home kitchen but a makeshift one with a mobile stove and a tent overhead, almost like an open-air setup.
Faang Lan glanced over and spotted a young man in a chef's uniform, energetically brandishing a large iron spoon.
"Mom, Dad, look, that's my brother over there..."
Faang Jin and Huang Mei turned to look and were momentarily stunned.
There he was, their son, but could it be that he was the one who had prepared these mouthwatering dishes?
Faang Jin, with his wife and daughter in tow, approached.
"You little rascal, are you actually the chef here?"
"Isn't it obvious? I made all these dishes. I learned from Grandpa and did my own secret research. Hard work pays off, you know," Faang Hua said with a cough, hinting at his efforts.
Faang Jin scrutinized Faang Hua from head to toe, while Huang Mei gazed at him, deep in thought.
"Dad, Mom, what are you staring at?" Faang Hua asked, puzzled.
"What do you think? We're looking at you, our ungrateful little wolf. With your cooking skills, you never once offered to help me in the kitchen, just sat there like a lord!" Huang Mei exclaimed, her tone a mix of amazement and annoyance.
"You've kept your talents hidden too well!" she huffed, her frustration evident as she recalled all the times she had slaved away in the kitchen without his help.
"Mom, only Grandpa has ever tasted my cooking before. I'm not even sure if it's good, and I certainly wouldn't want to experiment on you guys."
Faang Hua chuckled, deftly steering the conversation away.
Seeing this, Faang Jin and Huang Mei didn't press the issue. After all, Faang Hua's culinary display had brought honor to the entire family.
"Brother, are we going to sit together at the table later?"
Faang Lan held onto Faang Hua's hand, looking up at him with hopeful eyes.
"No, we helpers will eat last. You go ahead with Mom and Dad for the second seating."
Faang Hua gently shook his head.
Impressed, Faang Jin exclaimed, "Incredible, you're skilled enough to be the chef at a village feast!"
"Dad, reserve your praise until after you've tried my dishes."
"You're quite confident, my boy. I'll be sure to savor every bite!"
"Sure thing."
Faang Hua was brimming with confidence, his skills at the level of a great master. He was certain Faang Jin would be astonished.
Xu Jialong, spotting Faang Jin, warmly clapped him on the shoulder.
"Faang Jin, my brother, glad you could make it. We owe a lot to Hua this time; without him, I couldn't have pulled this off. Now, we must drink to celebrate."
Xu Jialong had more to discuss, so he led Faang Jin aside for a private chat.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Cuihua, with a keen eye, approached Huang Mei and whisked her away to a quiet corner.
"Huang Mei, I've got to ask you something in confidence. What are your thoughts on Hua's marriage prospects?"
