C13 Hand of God

*Beep! Beep! Beep!*

A series of beeps erupted from the life detector, throwing everyone into a frenzy. Yang Feng was especially distraught.

Instinctively, all eyes darted to the clock.

Ten minutes on the dot!

Immediately after, the group's gaze shifted in unison to Jiang Chen standing calmly to the side.

Jiang Chen's face remained serene, betraying no sign of concern.

Seeing this, Yang Feng abruptly bowed with his hands clasped and pleaded, "Mister, we need your assistance!"

Ma Bing, who had been silent, now scrutinized the young man before him with newfound seriousness.

With a disdainful snort, Ma Bing coldly addressed Yang Feng, "Chair Yang, if you're so keen on having this youngster attempt a rescue, be my guest. But don't come begging me to intervene afterward!"

Yang Feng managed a wry smile, caught between a rock and a hard place.

Jiang Chen cast a brief glance at Yang Feng and decided, "Very well, I shall lend my aid."

With that, Jiang Chen pressed on the patient's legs and targeted several acupoints on the body.

Puff!

To the astonishment of all present, Jiang Chen's gentle prodding caused the patient, who seemed near death, to abruptly sit up and vomit a mouthful of fresh blood.

"Dad, how are you feeling? Dad!"

The patient's family burst into the room, their cries filling the air.

Puff!

Distracted by the commotion, Jiang Chen was hit by a backlash of spiritual energy and also spat out a mouthful of blood.

The onlookers gasped in alarm.

Ma Bing, on the other hand, couldn't hide his schadenfreude. "Humph, wasn't this kid supposed to work his miracle? What now?"

A sneer curled on Ma Bing's lips, as if he had witnessed the downfall he had anticipated.

Jiang Chen, wiping the blood from his mouth, showed a flash of anger. "How did the patient's family get in here?"

Yang Feng snapped out of his stupor, smacking his forehead in realization. "My apologies, that was my oversight. I'm terribly sorry, Mr. Jiang. I'll escort the patient's family out of the ward immediately."

With that, Yang Feng moved to lead the patient's family out of the room.

Yet, in Ma Bing's eyes, all these efforts seemed futile.

Could simply escorting the family out of the ward miraculously heal the patient?

The notion was utterly laughable!

Once Jiang Chen had stilled the tumultuous Spiritual Energy within him, he turned his attention back to the patient.

"I'm not entirely confident this time," Jiang Chen stated serenely.

In the past, with the might of an Immortal Venerable, Jiang Chen could have resurrected someone even after death. But now, the situation was different: the Spiritual Energy in his body was too sparse, and a mortal's frame couldn't endure such intense power. Jiang Chen wasn't willing to take that gamble.

"Whoosh!"

"Let's give it my best shot..."

"Whoosh!"

As a beam of white light hit the patient's forehead, a brilliant radiance enveloped the room.

To everyone's astonishment, the patient's body began to levitate as the light infused him. Such a spectacle was unheard of in this age of science and technology, leaving many to wonder if Jiang Chen was performing some sort of magic trick.

"This... this... this..."

Yang Feng was so astounded he found himself speechless, as if something had lodged in his throat.

Even Ma Bing, who had previously scorned Jiang Chen, was now staring with eyes wide as saucers, as if he had seen a specter.

Suddenly, the crowd started to entertain the possibility that Jiang Chen's words held truth.

Meanwhile, Jiang Chen was meticulously guiding the spiritual energy in his hands, seeking the patient's lost soul.

After a brief survey of the ceiling, he located it.

With the spiritual energy swirling in his grasp, Jiang Chen gently coaxed the soul back into the patient's body.

Then, something truly world-shattering occurred.

A ghostly apparition materialized before the patient's form, slowly merging back with the physical body.

The onlookers watched in awe. Could this be the fabled sorcery?

Jiang Chen, indifferent to their amazement, simply cast a brief glance their way and commanded, "Silence."

Witnessing Jiang Chen's prowess, the crowd promptly clamped their mouths shut, not daring to utter another word, lest they disrupt the "living Immortal's" concentration.

With a surge of spiritual energy in his left hand, Jiang Chen swiftly infused the phantom into the patient's body.

"One more soul to go..."

Having said that, Jiang Chen resumed his search of the surroundings.

He spotted the patient's soul behind Ma Bing.

Jiang Chen's gaze sharpened as he closed in on Ma Bing with deliberate steps.

Ma Bing was visibly frightened by Jiang Chen's approach.

"What... what are you going to do?" Ma Bing stumbled backward, his eyes wide with terror at the sight of Jiang Chen's intimidating gaze.

"Hand it over!" Jiang Chen bellowed, reaching out toward Ma Bing's back. Ma Bing quickly shielded himself, anticipating the worst.

"Please, I was wrong!" Ma Bing pleaded loudly.

But moments later, Ma Bing was surprised to find no pain. He looked back at Jiang Chen and saw him holding something, moving toward the patient.

Realizing his overreaction, Ma Bing coughed awkwardly. "Ahem..."

The moment was slightly uncomfortable, but Ma Bing soon noticed that few were paying attention to him; all eyes were on Jiang Chen.

Jiang Chen, with the patient's soul in his grasp, channeled a growing wave of spiritual energy.

"Souls or not, get back to where you belong!" he commanded. His hands pulsed with energy, and another phantom was seen merging with the patient.

Ma Bing rubbed his eyes, questioning his sight. When he saw others shared his reaction, he realized he wasn't hallucinating.

Yang Feng also blinked, doubting her own eyes.

The crowd murmured in awe, but Jiang Chen was focused on his task. He touched the patient's forehead once more.

The ensuing scene startled everyone, with some retreating in alarm.

As Jiang Chen's hand made contact, the patient abruptly sat up, arms outstretched, resembling a zombie.

Seeing the patient's response, Jiang Chen relaxed.

"All done. A few days of rest is all that's needed. I'll be on my way; no need to see me out."

Everyone fell silent.
