C14 Wang Nian's Revenge

Nobody saw it coming—Jiang Chen just walked away without a backward glance, leaving Yang Feng utterly bewildered and Ma Bing completely gobsmacked.

Ma Bing could sense the patient in the bed was losing his life force. "In all my years, I've never witnessed anything so miraculous!" he marveled.

"Over here! That's the kid. Little Yuan told me he's the one who did the beating. Take him down!"

Jiang Chen had barely stepped out of the hospital when he was encircled by a squad of law enforcement officers.

"You really think you can arrest me?" Jiang Chen challenged, eyebrow cocked, as he faced the crowd.

"Smart aleck, we'll see if you're still smirking soon enough!"

"Fellas, this kid's got too much nerve. If we don't put him in his place, he's going to keep underestimating the strength of our law enforcement," Captain Wang Nian rallied his colleagues, who all nodded in agreement.

This kid had been nothing but trouble since he arrived, apparently never having faced real hardship.

Meanwhile, Luo Meng, Luo Yuan's cousin, couldn't contain his glee at the thought of Jiang Chen getting his comeuppance. His cousin's enemy was his enemy, after all.

With that, several officers escorted Jiang Chen into a small room.

Two uniformed officers approached Jiang Chen—one restrained him while the other slapped on the handcuffs.

"Kid, you're going to have to concede this time."

"You're clueless about who I am, aren't you? I'm Wang Nian, the Little Overlord of the Law Enforcement Team. You had the gall to mess with my brother Luo Yuan? You're asking for it!"

With that, Wang Nian landed a heavy punch on Jiang Chen.

Jiang Chen took the punch squarely in the stomach without flinching, feeling no pain—almost like a tickle.

And then, another punch!

Jiang Chen had assumed one punch from Wang Nian would be the end of it, but another blow swiftly followed.

Jiang Chen was annoyed.

A little heads-up before you hit me would be nice. I'm not going to let you off easy!

Wang Nian's next punch hit Jiang Chen right in the face.

Jiang Chen's face felt like it was on the verge of swelling as he slurred, "You really went overboard with that hit!"

Pfft!

While restrained by the law enforcement officer, Jiang Chen spat onto the ground, a mouthful of blood following. It was a deliberate act, a ploy to feign weakness before these fools, playing the pig to catch the tiger—a tactic he relished.

Feeling helpless, Jiang Chen lamented his body's frailty. He licked his lips, sensing his teeth had become worryingly loose.

"You're just as despicable as that Luo Meng!" Jiang Chen blurted out in anger.

Wang Nian, having felt a sense of release after landing two punches, was caught off guard by Jiang Chen's taunt. Without a second thought, he delivered another vicious kick to Jiang Chen's stomach, as if intent on finishing him off.

But Jiang Chen wasn't about to let Wang Nian's arrogance go unchecked. The spiritual energy within him began to stir.

A foreboding feeling struck Wang Nian even before his foot made contact. But by then, it was too late.

The instant Wang Nian's foot connected with Jiang Chen's abdomen, a searing pain engulfed his leg, as if plunged into boiling water. His legs burned with unbearable heat.

Ah!

A wave of intense pain forced a scream from Wang Nian's lips.

In the next moment, his body lurched backward, saved from a graceless fall only by the swift support of a fellow officer.

Wang Nian's face contorted with pain and numbness in his legs, the agony showing no signs of subsiding.

"Damn it, does this kid have something hidden on him?" he wondered aloud.

His colleague frisked Jiang Chen thoroughly, yet found nothing incriminating.

How peculiar! The kid had nothing on him, so how did he manage to end up in such a sorry state?

"I refuse to believe this nonsense," Wang Nian muttered through clenched teeth, lunging with another punch towards Jiang Chen's face.

Jiang Chen stood his ground, inwardly smug.

[Really? Coming at me again?]

As before, Wang Nian, undeterred by the throbbing in his leg, was dumbfounded as he felt the force of Jiang Chen's spiritual energy repel his attack.

Wang Nian was utterly flabbergasted.

"Does this kid have spikes or something?"

"When have I ever tolerated such insolence?"

Having suffered twice already, Wang Nian no longer dared to lash out at Jiang Chen recklessly.

It would be a joke to tell others—attempting to hit someone and ending up hurting himself? Such absurdity hadn't occurred since the country's reform!

After much contemplation, Wang Nian finally took a moment to calm down.

Jiang Chen couldn't help but sneer at the sight. "Did you really think you could withstand my spiritual power?"

Wang Nian's fury intensified at Jiang Chen's sneer; it was a blatant sign of contempt!

Throwing caution to the wind, Wang Nian grabbed an iron rod nearby and charged at Jiang Chen.

Unbeknownst to Wang Nian, Jiang Chen was channeling spiritual energy!

Even as the iron rod approached, Jiang Chen remained undaunted.

With this in mind, Jiang Chen unleashed eighty percent of his spiritual power, determined to have Wang Nian rebounded by his own force.

Contrary to Wang Nian's expectations, when the iron rod connected with Jiang Chen's body, there were no cries of pain—only an eerie calm that sent chills down Wang Nian's spine.

"How can this be?" Wang Nian's pupils dilated in shock.

But a second later, Wang Nian's body stiffened, and he toppled backward.

The other two law enforcement officers were clueless about the situation, but Jiang Chen was beside himself with glee. The fool had clearly been knocked senseless by the spiritual energy within him.

"Better rush him to the hospital before it's too late," Jiang Chen said, barely containing his laughter.

The two law enforcement officers, seething at Jiang Chen's mockery, reluctantly took Wang Nian to the hospital.

With Wang Nian out cold, one officer promptly reported the incident to their superiors for further handling of Jiang Chen.

Though unsure of Jiang Chen's capabilities, the sight of Wang Nian's sorry state was enough to deter them from further confrontation.

Before long, they whisked Wang Nian away, vanishing from Jiang Chen's view.
