C16 Knifescarred Woman
At that moment, Luo Meng sat on the ground, his eyes vacant, resembling a soulless skeleton.
Gritting his teeth, Luo Meng pounded the earth with his fists and seethed, "Damn it, Jiang Chen, I swear I'll kill you today!"
After his third round of drinks with Lee Fei, Jiang Chen staggered out of the Law Enforcement Bureau, slightly tipsy but clear-headed.
"Hey, Brother Fei, no need to see me out. Head back, will you?"
"Sure thing, Jiang. Take it easy, I'll leave you to it," Lee Fei replied, and with that, they parted ways.
Jiang Chen hadn't overindulged, and his wits were about him when he sensed something amiss behind him. Turning around, he found himself encircled by over a dozen people.
Upon closer inspection, Jiang Chen recognized the ringleader—it was that kid, Luo Meng. He hadn't expected Luo Meng to be so persistent.
With a slight narrowing of his eyes, Jiang Chen focused the spiritual energy within him into his hand. He charged at the group, grabbed someone at random, and with a single punch, knocked the man out cold, sending a clear message to the others.
The crowd was stunned. It was an instant takedown.
"Holy crap, is this guy even human? Jiang Chen must be cheating!"
"Damn, damn, this is insane. Does this kid have some kind of superpower?"
"Seriously, Luo Meng, this is the guy you wanted us to take down? He's freakishly strong!"
While the crowd buzzed with comments, Jiang Chen remained unfazed.
Panic set in for Luo Meng. He knew Jiang Chen was formidable, but he hadn't anticipated this level of strength.
Regret washed over Luo Meng, but it was too late; Jiang Chen was already barreling toward him.
Jiang Chen had reached his limit. This guy had repeatedly tested his patience, and it was time to show he wasn't to be trifled with.
In a frenzy, Luo Meng grabbed the nearby railing for support, while those around him, intimidated by Jiang Chen's ferocity, retreated dozens of steps, no longer daring to confront him directly.
After a moment of panic, Luo Meng patted his pocket and suddenly pulled a switchblade from it. Rising to his feet, he yelled at Jiang Chen, "Stay back! If you come any closer, I'll stab you to death with this knife!"
Luo Meng's voice quivered, his movements shaky, his grip on the switchblade faltering.
Without another word, Luo Meng drew another switchblade from his sweatpants and lunged at Jiang Chen.
"You're pathetic. What is this, amateur hour? Are you trying to be Cai Xukun or something?" Jiang Chen taunted Luo Meng with a sneer.
Unbeknownst to the crowd, someone was secretly watching the entire scene unfold from a shadowy corner.
"Trash!"
With a light chuckle, Jiang Chen easily wrested the switchblade from Luo Meng's hand and sent him flying with a kick.
"Watch out!"
A sharp female voice rang out, causing Jiang Chen to whirl around.
He realized that Luo Meng had not one, but two switchblades. Even after Jiang Chen had taken one, the other was still poised to strike.
Now truly enraged, Jiang Chen knew he would have been in serious trouble if not for the timely warning from the girl.
Smack!
Jiang Chen slapped Wang Nian squarely across the face, leaving him dazed and disoriented.
But only Jiang Chen knew the true force behind that slap—infused with spiritual power, it could intimidate even the strongest of foes, not just a Luo Meng.
Without a word, Jiang Chen delivered another kick, sending Luo Meng flying several meters.
The small-time thugs who'd come with Luo Meng suddenly fell silent, none eager to cross paths with such a formidable opponent.
"Uh, guys, my mom just called. I gotta head out..."
"Ah, my wife wants me home for dinner. I better get going..."
"Oh, just remembered, my daughter hasn't finished her homework. I need to help her with it..."
And just like that, the group Luo Meng had brought scattered, leaving him unconscious in the middle of the road.
To avoid a tragedy, Jiang Chen kindly dragged the unconscious Luo Meng to the roadside, sparing him from being run over and sparing himself from any blame.
"Who was the lady that lent a hand just now? Please, step forward," Jiang Chen called out with courtesy.
True to his expectation, a woman soon emerged from a corner.
She had a striking figure paired with a face that exuded an icy demeanor—the kind of woman Jiang Chen had been fond of in his past life, particularly accentuated by the black stockings she wore.
Despite his status as an Immortal Venerable, Jiang Chen found himself growing accustomed to the ways of the mortal realm after some time.
The woman let out a cold huff and remarked, "Men truly are deplorable. Had I known, I wouldn't have bothered warning you. It would have been just as well if that person had finished you off."
Jiang Chen sheepishly scratched his head.
It's not my fault you look so 'intimidating'—anyone would struggle not to steal a glance, especially someone like me, who prides himself on being a 'gentleman.'
He kept these sarcastic thoughts to himself, choosing not to voice them.
Extending his hand, Jiang Chen teased, "Why are you still here? Planning to offer yourself in gratitude? I must warn you, I, Jiang Chen, am quite selective."
The woman's face twisted with anger, prompting Jiang Chen to quickly change the subject, "What brings you here by yourself?"
He could sense that the woman was clearly a seasoned martial artist with a solid foundation.
As Jiang Chen took in her alluring figure, he felt a stir within him. No longer an Immortal Venerable, but a mere mortal, he couldn't deny his natural desires.
With an awkward smile, he inquired, "May I ask your name, miss?"
The woman spat in response, leaving Jiang Chen taken aback.
"Snort, a scoundrel like you doesn't deserve to know my name."
"I intervened earlier simply because I couldn't stand by and watch a life be snuffed out. Don't read too much into it."
With that, she concluded, "That's all, goodbye."
