C3 I Am the One Who Hit You

Upon spotting Jiang Chen, Luo Yiran immediately lashed out with a fierce tone, "What are you doing here? Get out now, so Director Wang and his crew can demolish this place."

Jiang Chen remained still, catching Luo Yiran off guard. Usually, her word was law to him; he wouldn't dare talk back and would obediently comply. But today was different.

"Have you lost your mind? I told you to get out, are you listening?"

Luo Yiran, unable to contain her frustration, raised her voice at the unmoving Jiang Chen. Yet, he remained unfazed and retorted, "Why should I?"

"This is my house. Why should I leave?"

At that moment, Director Wang stepped out of his car, having overheard their entire exchange.

"Luo Yiran, remember I'm well-acquainted with your boss at Purple Gold Wealth. If you cause any delays today, consider your job and think about your mother lying sick in bed..."

After Director Wang spoke, Luo Yiran simply nodded and approached Jiang Chen. She had previously contemplated calling Jiang Chen to coax him out while at the hospital, but now, seeing him in his hospital gown, empty-handed after his leap, she had no choice but to confront him directly.

However, Jiang Chen was not his usual self today. With a swift shake of his hand, he broke free from Luo Yiran's grasp.

Without missing a beat, Jiang Chen fixed his gaze on Director Wang and coldly stated, "I've already warned you to back off, and yet you dare to bring her here."

A chilling aura began to emanate from Jiang Chen, enveloping the area and bearing down on Director Wang and his cronies, who were visibly shaken, with Director Wang himself starting to back away.

"I won't repeat myself a second time!"

A glint of icy resolve shone in Jiang Chen's eyes as he advanced towards Director Wang and his entourage. Though his strength was only partially restored, he was eager to flex his muscles. But before he could act, the lackeys, sensing the tension, charged at Jiang Chen with an assortment of weapons like steel pipes and machetes.

"Damn it, stop putting on airs in front of Director Wang!"

As the assailants charged toward him, Jiang Chen let out a cold laugh. Rather than backing down, he surged forward, colliding with one of the henchmen.

The henchman was sent flying, landing a considerable distance away.

The next henchman made his move, but Jiang Chen deftly grabbed him and, with a forceful yank, elicited a scream of agony.

"Crack."

The sound was sharp—the henchman's hand was clearly broken.

As Jiang Chen approached Director Wang, Luo Yiran stepped in front of him, arms outstretched.

"Jiang Chen, please, can't you do this for me? Even if I've wronged you, I am still your fiancée, aren't I?" she pleaded through tears that streaked down her porcelain cheeks.

A complex surge of emotion welled up in Jiang Chen at the sight of Luo Yiran.

He realized that this was the lingering attachment of his current life, and his love for her was profound.

"Alright, since you're asking on their behalf, I'll spare them this time," he relented.

Luo Yiran had not intended to beg Jiang Chen for mercy. She was well aware that Director Wang and his associates were at fault. However, the thought of her mother, bedridden and in need of medical care that hinged on Director Wang's favor, left her no choice but to appeal to Jiang Chen.

Yet, Luo Yiran had never anticipated Jiang Chen's formidable abilities.

It seemed that since his fall from the building, there had been a shift in Jiang Chen's demeanor and temperament, a stark contrast to his previously compliant nature.

But with her mother's well-being consuming her thoughts, Luo Yiran didn't dwell on Jiang Chen's transformation. Her immediate concerns were her mother's health and the altercation that had unfolded between Jiang Chen and Director Wang's group.

The outcome was uncertain.

Seeing Jiang Chen's softened stance, Director Wang approached Luo Yiran with a smirk and a disdainful chuckle.

"Kid, you've hurt my men today. We're not done with this," he warned.

"And I can call Chair Yang at the hospital right now, and make sure your mother doesn't receive treatment."

At Director Wang's threat, Luo Yiran's expression darkened, and she began to apologize profusely.

Jiang Chen's face remained impassive as he coolly observed Director Wang and Luo Yiran.

Director Wang, seeing Jiang Chen's unflappable demeanor, seethed with rage. How dare this young upstart act so insolently? He had injured his men and didn't even have the decency to apologize.

Yet, while Jiang Chen might have been brazen, his wife, Luo Yiran, exhibited a starkly different demeanor.

"Luo Yiran, if you wish to save your mother's life, strip in front of this young punk and attend to me properly. Fail to do so, and I assure you, you won't be able to save her," Director Wang demanded.

Upon hearing this, Luo Yiran collapsed to the ground, distraught.

"Director Wang, you..."

But Director Wang paid her no heed, his face twisted into a taunting sneer as he continued to bait Jiang Chen.

"What does it matter how tough you are? You'll still have to stand by and watch as I toy with your fiancée," he jeered, reaching for Luo Yiran.

"Stop dawdling when I tell you to strip. Hesitate, and I might just change my mind, and then your mother's life is forfeit."

But just as his hand was inches from Luo Yiran, a blur of motion caught his eye.

In an instant, Jiang Chen was there, intercepting Director Wang's porcine hand with a vice-like grip.

With a fierce squeeze, he elicited a piercing scream from Director Wang.

And Jiang Chen wasn't finished. A swift kick to Director Wang's ribs followed, the sickening crack of bone echoing, then the thud of flesh hitting the ground.

"You were given a chance, but you just don't get it, do you?" Jiang Chen towered over him, a veritable deity dispensing justice. Luo Yiran could hardly believe that this was the same man who had once been so subservient to her, the man who had been entangled in domestic chores like laundry and cooking.

She scarcely recognized the Jiang Chen before her.

A profound sense of safety enveloped her, the realization that she was protected.

The man before her, it seemed, was not so worthless after all.

Regrettably, he was battling cancer. If only he had shown this strength earlier, she might not have had to argue so fervently with her family to marry him.

Luo Yiran's attention faltered for just a second, and when she looked again, Director Wang was sprawled on the ground, completely still.

"You, you didn't kill him, did you?" Luo Yiran's voice quivered as she spoke.

Jiang Chen quickly hoisted Luo Yiran to her feet, reassuring her, "He's only passed out. He's not going to die!"
