C11 Anonymous Report

Upon hearing that Xu Fengqiu was no longer considering resignation, Han Fujiang felt a significant weight lift from his shoulders.

Having already offered an apology, along with a promotion, a raise, and a house to Xu Fengqiu, Han Fujiang was fairly certain Jiang Yan wouldn't press the issue any further.

After a brief pause, Han Fujiang approached Xu Fengqiu, "Manager Xu, may I have a word with you in private?"

Li Xiaoya discreetly stepped aside, and the others kept their distance as well. Yet, they all strained to listen, wishing they had the ears of a lynx to eavesdrop on the private exchange.

In a hushed tone, Han Fujiang inquired, "Manager Xu, you're quite stunning. Your husband is a fortunate man. May I ask what he does for a living?"

Blushing slightly, Xu Fengqiu responded, "CEO Han, my husband was previously unemployed at home. Today marks his first day at a new job."

Han Fujiang was taken aback. He had assumed Jiang Yan had some formidable background that could be advantageous to him if he could curry favor. Had Jiang Yan not personally revealed that Xu Fengqiu was his wife, Han Fujiang might have doubted whether he was even speaking to the right person. Could there really be another Xu Fengqiu?

It baffled him how a stay-at-home husband could prompt a call from Gao Yubo, the director of the Real Estate Bureau. The murkier Jiang Yan's background seemed, the more uneasy Han Fujiang felt.

"And which company is he joining? What position will he hold?" Han Fujiang pressed.

"He's joining a new advertising design firm called Boundless Culture Ltd., as a salesperson," Xu Fengqiu explained, her curiosity piqued by Han Fujiang's unusual interest in her husband.

"Director Han, there's something I'd like to ask you as well," she ventured.

"What is it?" he replied.

"How did you come to know about yesterday's incident?" Xu Fengqiu asked, perplexed. She couldn't imagine Han Wenshan volunteering that information, so someone must have tipped off Han Fujiang.

"Ah... someone anonymously tipped me off over the phone. I really don't know who it was," Han Fujiang lied, recalling Jiang Yan's instruction not to disclose the matter to anyone.

"Manager Xu, go ahead with your work. I have other matters to take care of, so I'm heading back to the office."

"Director Han, please take care. Allow me to escort you out."

"There's no need, get back to work!"

With that, Han Fujiang and his driver left the sales center. As he exhaled deeply, his gaze fell upon Jiang Yan standing beneath a tree at the street's edge, causing his face to pale in alarm.

He quickly approached, speaking anxiously, "Young Master, I've done as you asked, apologizing to Miss Xu without mentioning that you've met with me."

Jiang Yan nodded, his face devoid of emotion, and inquired, "And your son? How did you handle that situation?"

With a pained expression, Han Fujiang clenched his jaw and admitted, "I followed your orders there too. I had someone break one of his arms and one of his legs. He's receiving treatment in the hospital now."

"Really? I'll have someone verify that. If your son's limbs are intact, you're aware of the consequences."

Jiang Yan cast a chilling look at Han Fujiang before leisurely pedaling away on his electric bike.

Sweat beaded on Han Fujiang's forehead. Just yesterday, he had wavered, unable to bring himself to harm his own son.

He had considered having Han Wenshan wear a cast and stay in the hospital for a few days, feigning broken limbs.

But the thought of Jiang Yan's power to effortlessly bankrupt his company made Han Fujiang dismiss the notion of deception.

He had personally arranged for someone to inflict the injuries on his son.

Now, Han Wenshan lay in the hospital, believing he had been hurt in a scuffle, completely unaware of his father's orchestration.

Once Jiang Yan was out of sight, Han Fujiang too hastily departed by car.

Back inside the sales center, Xu Fengqiu found herself encircled by her fellow salespeople.

"Fengqiu, congratulations on becoming a manager! You should definitely treat us to dinner, right?"

"Don't forget your roots now that you've climbed the ranks. We're all sisters here!"

"Fengqiu, you've truly come out of a tough spot even stronger. Not only have you been promoted and received a raise, but you've also been rewarded with a house. We could save for ten years without being able to afford a home in the Hanlin Family estate."

Xu Fengqiu noticed the warm enthusiasm from everyone and responded with a smile, "As CEO Han mentioned, if we all put in the effort at work, we too might have the chance to be rewarded with a house."

Li Xiaoya called out, "Okay, okay, let's get back to work, everyone. Fengqiu, come on, I'll help you get the manager's office sorted out."

Once Xu Fengqiu and Li Xiaoya were inside the office with the door shut, it was just the two of them.

"Xiaoya, I need to ask you something. President Han mentioned he received an anonymous tip about yesterday's incident. Was it you who made that call?"

Li Xiaoya was taken aback. She had assumed Jiang Yan had spoken to Han Fujiang, prompting his visit today to seek accountability. But that wasn't the case. Not only did Han Fujiang refrain from reprimanding, but he also offered apologies, leaving her utterly baffled.

Now she realized it was an anonymous call that brought Han Fujiang here, completely unrelated to Jiang Yan. Since Jiang Yan wasn't involved and the call was anonymous, claiming credit could work in her favor. Xu Fengqiu would surely appreciate her for it.

"I saw you upset and leaving Han Wenshan's office in tears yesterday. I knew he had mistreated you. I was so angry but felt powerless to help you directly, so I made an anonymous call to President Han. I never expected him to take it so seriously."

Xu Fengqiu grasped Li Xiaoya's hand, deeply moved, "Xiaoya, thank you so much. You truly are a great friend, and I'll never forget this kindness."

Li Xiaoya replied with a smile, "I was only doing what's right. But truly, we should be grateful to President Han for his integrity and moral courage. If it weren't for his principled nature, my anonymous call wouldn't have made a difference."

"But Fengqiu, please keep this between us. Han Wenshan is President Han's son, after all. If he finds out I was the one who reported him, he'll surely hold a grudge against me."

Xu Fengqiu nodded and assured, "Hmm, rest easy. I won't betray your trust."

Li Xiaoya added, "You know, yesterday, the other sisters were standing up for you too. I'm curious if anyone else, like me, made an anonymous call to report the issue. If so, you should definitely express your gratitude. But between us sisters, there's no need for formal thanks."

Li Xiaoya harbored concerns that someone might come forward to claim credit with Xu Fengqiu, potentially exposing her if she claimed the credit herself. So, she kept her cards close to her chest.

Even if someone else claimed they made the anonymous call, it wouldn't diminish Li Xiaoya's contribution. Xu Fengqiu would owe her gratitude all the same.

Xu Fengqiu exclaimed, "Hmm, regardless of who made the anonymous call on my behalf, I'm grateful to them. But right now, I'm just so overjoyed. I'm itching to share this wonderful news with Jiang Yan, and with my dad, mom, and sister too."

Li Xiaoya quickly interjected, "Hold off on sharing for now, Fengqiu. Didn't you mention your future brother-in-law is the son of the Dragon River Hotel owner? How about we have a dinner celebration tonight? It's a chance to celebrate your victory and also to thank those who made anonymous reports on your behalf. Plus, announcing the good news to your family later on would make for an even bigger surprise, wouldn't it?"
