C8 Important People
Han Fujiang was entertaining several key clients at the Dragon River Hotel when he abruptly received a call from Gao Yubo, the director of Yunzhou's Housing Administration. Gao Yubo urgently requested his presence back at the office, mentioning that a person of significant importance was awaiting him and emphasized the need for a proper reception.
Curious, Han inquired about the identity of this important individual, but Gao could only reveal that he had been notified by higher-ups. Considering Gao's position at the top of Yunzhou's housing administration, these higher-ups were likely provincial officials.
Prompted by the call, Han excused himself from his clients and quickly made his way to the company. Upon arrival, he spotted Jiang Yan at the entrance. Jiang's plain attire led Han to mistakenly assume he was a job seeker.
Approaching the reception desk, Han asked, "Was someone looking for me just now? Where might they be?"
The receptionist, visibly startled, pointed to Jiang Yan. It had been over twenty minutes since Jiang had made a phone call right in front of her. She had quietly snickered to herself at the time, thinking Jiang was delusional for demanding a meeting with their CEO.
Had Jiang caused any disturbance, she would have had security escort him out without hesitation. Yet, to her astonishment, her boss had actually shown up.
"Mr. Han, that gentleman is the one seeking you."
"Him?" Han looked at Jiang with a puzzled expression, but approached without delay, asking, "May I know who you are and the reason for your visit?"
Jiang Yan responded coolly, "Are you Han Fujiang?"
"Yes, that's me."
"I need to discuss a matter with you. Would you prefer to talk here or in your office?" Jiang's composure suggested to Han that he was indeed the VIP in question.
Ordinary visitors would be overjoyed and effusive upon meeting him, not this collected.
"Let's head to my office, please."
Once in his office, Han had his secretary serve Jiang Yan a glass of water and then asked with a smile, "If I may, how are you associated with Director Gao Yubo?"
"Gao Yubo? Never heard of him."
"You haven't?"
Han Fujiang's expression shifted to one of surprise. Had he mistaken this man for someone else? Wasn't he the very important figure that Bureau Director Gao had referred to?
"What do you want with me, then?"
Jiang Yan spoke up, "Han Wenshan is your son, correct?"
Han Fujiang nodded. "Yes, that's my son. Do you know him?"
"No, I don't!"
He didn't know him either!
A frown creased Han Fujiang's brow as he asked with a note of irritation, "If you don't know my son, then why inquire about him?"
Jiang Yan's voice was icy as he stated, "Your son has done something wrong today, and I've come to you for an explanation."
Han Fujiang, trying to keep his composure, inquired, "What did he do?"
"He bullied my wife, and he needs to face the consequences."
"And who might your wife be?"
Upon hearing Jiang Yan's statement, Han Fujiang was convinced more than ever that Jiang Yan was certainly not the important individual he'd imagined.
How could someone of significance, someone who had connections with Chief Gao Yubo's superiors, seek him out over a matter of his wife being bullied? The thought was laughable.
"My wife, Xu Fengqiu, works at the Dahua Real Estate sales center."
With Jiang Yan's explanation, Han Fujiang's suspicions were confirmed.
The spouse of a mere employee under his company's umbrella couldn't possibly be someone of importance. He had definitely gotten the wrong person.
His expression turned stern as he spoke with condescension, "You claim my son bullied your wife. Where's your proof? Without evidence, you're just slandering and falsely accusing, which I could take you to court for."
Jiang Yan retorted with a scoff, "I was told your son summoned my wife to his office, and shortly after, she emerged in tears and disheveled. That's evidence enough."
Han Fujiang burst into laughter, "Ha! What kind of evidence is that? No one witnessed my son bullying your wife. And even if he had, what of it? For all we know, it could've been your wife who tried to seduce my son."
"My son is the heir to the Dahua Real Estate Group, a company with assets in the billions. Countless women are trying to seduce him, hoping for a shortcut to a life of luxury. If you can't manage your own wife, yet you have the audacity to seek an explanation from me, that's truly absurd!"
Jiang Yan's face was a mask of ice as he spoke, "You can insult me, but insulting my wife? That's the gravest mistake you've made. I gave you a chance, but you squandered it. Now, you can't blame me for what happens next."
He pulled out his phone and redialed the previous number.
"Within one hour, I want the Dahua Real Estate Group in Yunzhou bankrupted!"
With those words, he ended the call and fixed Han Fujiang with an icy stare.
Han Fujiang, however, laughed uproariously as if he'd heard the joke of the century, rocking back and forth, pounding the table.
"Hahaha, you're killing me! Bankrupt my Dahua Real Estate Group in an hour? What, did you call Thanos? Do you think a snap of your fingers can topple the company I've painstakingly built over decades?"
Jiang Yan offered a slight smile and casually crossed his legs. "Well then, let's just wait and see."
"Fine, I'll wait with you," Han Fujiang chuckled, "It's been ages since I've had such a good laugh."
But only ten minutes had passed when Han Fujiang's secretary burst in, frantic.
"Director Han, there's a problem. Out of nowhere, someone started buying up our shares and then dumped them at rock-bottom prices. Our stock index is plummeting—it's already down by double digits, and we're hemorrhaging billions."
"What?"
Han Fujiang's face paled, his eyes involuntarily darting to the unruffled Jiang Yan. Doubts crept into his mind—could this chaos be a result of that phone call?
Before he could gather his wits, the Finance Department manager rushed in, equally alarmed.
"Director Han, I've just had calls from several companies we have financial ties with. They're demanding immediate repayment of loans, threatening legal action if we don't comply."
And then, a bespectacled security manager appeared, breathless.
"President Han..."
"Now what?" Han Fujiang barked, slamming his hands on the table, his glare demanding answers.
Swallowing hard, the security manager relayed, "The real estate safety bureau just called. They've found safety issues with the property we're about to deliver. They've halted all handovers and sales, and they're calling for a full inspection of all our properties under construction."
Han Fujiang's complexion turned ghastly in an instant. Within mere minutes, the once rock-solid foundation of his company had been dealt a devastating blow.
Shaking uncontrollably, he turned to face Jiang Yan, a voice inside him insisting that Jiang Yan was the pivotal figure in this disaster.
"Everyone, leave now. No matter what happens, do not interrupt me!"
After ushering everyone out, Han Fujiang hurried over to Jiang Yan and dropped to his knees with a thud.
"Young Master, I was mistaken. Please, I implore you to cease your actions!"
A cold smirk played on Jiang Yan's lips as he responded, "Oh? Not even an hour has passed and you're already conceding defeat?"
Tears welled up in Han Fujiang's eyes, but none fell. His company had sustained severe losses in just minutes. If an hour were to pass, bankruptcy would surely follow.
"I concede. I beg for your leniency. Whatever you demand, I shall comply."
Jiang Yan laid out his terms, "First, break one of your son's arms and a leg as a lesson. Second, personally apologize to my wife, or I can bring your company to ruin at any moment, leaving you and your son without a place to rest in death. Third, you must not speak of my visit here to anyone. Fail in any of these, and you'll bear the consequences."
With that, Jiang Yan rose and departed.
Han Fujiang slumped to the floor, utterly drained, his expression one of vacant despair.
