C17 Subduing the Purple Fox
Upon hearing those words, Purple Fox's face instantly transformed, her hand reaching for Ye Cheng's chest. A flicker of astonishment crossed her eyes. "Why is there a piece missing from your heart?"
Ye Cheng shoved Purple Fox away, wiping his chest with a look of disgust. "What's with the hands-on approach? There should be no such familiarity between men and women. You're being far too forward."
"It's no wonder you've ended up like this. How the tables have turned. It's time for me to reclaim what you owe me!"
With a cold rebuke, Purple Fox's form swelled to several times its original size, morphing into a colossal fox with eight tails undulating behind her.
System Alert: The ghost within the host is exiting the body.
As the alert echoed, the ghost bound to Ye Cheng by a Ghost Contract materialized as a stream of smoke, emerging from his body. Members of the Supernatural Bureau, upon witnessing the ghost's appearance, promptly raised the talismans Ye Cheng had provided them. Their movements were as synchronized as if they were in a drill.
This was a millennium-old Purple Fox, whose murderous aura became even more turbulent once her true form was revealed, her eyes shifting to a deep purple hue.
In contrast, the other entity was merely a ghost who had died not many years ago. Despite the numerous lives she had taken, her malice paled in comparison to the formidable creature before her.
Nevertheless, the simultaneous emergence of two such challenging ghosts was enough to unsettle everyone present.
The ghost exuded a potent Yin Qi, her black hair snaking towards Purple Fox, coiling around her neck.
But Purple Fox regarded the ghost with indifference. A mere flicker of movement was all it took to sever the entwined hair, and the ghost was violently repelled back into Ye Cheng's body by the force.
Having dispatched the lesser spirit, Purple Fox advanced towards the group. The talismans worn by the Supernatural Bureau agents suddenly glowed, a golden radiance enveloping them in a protective shield.
This demonstration of power bolstered the agents' faith in the efficacy of Ye Cheng's talismans—they were indeed more than mere scribbles; they were potent protections.
With a slight furrow of her brow, Purple Fox continued her slow, deliberate approach, the golden light's suppression only marginally slowing her advance towards the group.
Even if they lacked the strength to confront the Purple Fox, as police officers, they wouldn't back down. They were duty-bound to protect the citizens.
"Let's all attack together. We can definitely fend off the Demonic Fox!"
At Wang Anshi's command, everyone brandished their protective talismans, advancing on the Demonic Fox. The potent charm of the talismans halted the Purple Fox in her tracks.
The Purple Fox roared, her form swelling by several inches.
Warning! The Purple Fox's strength has increased manifold. Host, please exercise caution.
Ye Cheng gazed at the Purple Fox before him, inexplicably reaching through the protective barrier to stroke her fur.
"It's been years, yet you haven't changed a bit, always quick to anger."
These familiar words significantly weakened the Purple Fox's demonic aura. She stared at the person before her, bewildered, "You... do you remember me?"
Wang Anshi watched Ye Cheng with astonishment, having never seen him this earnest, almost as if he were a different person.
System Notification: The host has acquired the Soul Lock ability. Your hands now possess a special power to combat the Demonic Fox.
As the Demonic Fox was momentarily distracted, an unusual glow began to emanate from Ye Cheng's fingertips. Unbeknownst to him, a golden thread reached out towards the Purple Fox, slowly coiling around her ankle.
By the time the Purple Fox realized what was happening, an overwhelming force surged from her ankle. The more she struggled, the tighter the binding became, relentlessly shrinking her demonic form until she was the size of a household pet.
Huh? How did she turn into a tiny fox?
Ye Cheng, intrigued, cradled the Purple Fox in his arms. Despite her frantic struggles, the golden band around her ankle restrained her strength, rendering her as powerless as a pet.
"You're so adorable! How did you get so tiny? Were you drawn in by my irresistible charm?" Ye Cheng couldn't resist stroking the Purple Fox's soft fur, delighted beyond measure.
The system, equally curious, wondered why the higher-ups would suddenly bestow such a power upon Ye Cheng when they typically never meddled in the host's affairs.
But then again, how could it question the higher-ups' decisions? Their decisions are always correct! Yes, absolutely correct!
Wang Anshi approached Ye Cheng with a skeptical look and peered cautiously at the Purple Fox nestled in Ye Cheng's embrace. "Ye, Ye Cheng, have you already tamed her?"
Cradling the Purple Fox, Ye Cheng turned with a grin. "I'm not sure what happened. I just gave her a little pat, and she shrank to this tiny size. She's absolutely adorable, though."
The Purple Fox squirmed several times, realizing it was futile to resist. Resigned to her situation, she decided to silently endure her new reality.
"Don't call me cute. I am a thousand-year-old Demonic Fox. Believe me, I could kill you all!" the Purple Fox growled menacingly.
"Wow!" Ye Cheng exclaimed, thrilled as if he had stumbled upon a great discovery. "She can talk, too! T100, can I request to take her home with me?"
Wang Anshi gave an embarrassed chuckle. Who else but Ye Cheng would dare to keep a thousand-year-old Demonic Fox close, especially one that could speak?
"Keep her, go ahead."
Without a second thought, Ye Cheng took the Demonic Fox with him into the car. No one else dared to join them inside, knowing full well that Ye Cheng harbored a ghost within him and was now accompanied by a thousand-year-old Demonic Fox. If he weren't the driver, he wouldn't have dared to enter the vehicle himself.
Upon their return to the Supernatural Bureau, Wang Anshi went out of his way to set up a personal room for Ye Cheng. Initially, he had considered sending Ye Cheng back to the psychiatric hospital, but fearing Ye Cheng might refuse to leave again, he opted to have him stay at the Bureau.
Officer Liu assisted in moving all of Ye Cheng's snacks and even managed to snag a few protective talismans from him, much to the envy of the other officers.
The Purple Fox rummaged through the snacks without finding anything to her liking. She slumped onto the sofa, defeated. "Humans are so peculiar, always fond of these kinds of things."
Ye Cheng, munching on a duck neck, responded, "What's wrong? These are tasty. Don't you like them?"
"Like them? Of course not. I am a thousand-year-old spiritual fox. How could I stoop to consuming such lowly human junk food?" the Purple Fox declared with a snort of contempt.
Ye Cheng suddenly remembered the two bills Wang Anshi had given him earlier. "Now that you're my pet, it's my responsibility to feed you. What would you like to eat? I've got money!"
The Purple Fox couldn't be bothered with Ye Cheng and sprawled out on the sofa to sleep.
Thinking the Purple Fox was upset with him for being ignored, Ye Cheng tiptoed out the door, only to bump into Officer Liu around the corner. "Hey, do you have any idea what foxes eat?"
Officer Liu pondered for a moment before responding, "They seem to have a fondness for fruit. Try buying a variety and see which ones she prefers."
