C4 Catfaced Lady
Wang Anshi exited the interrogation room with Ye Cheng in tow. Outside, a team of ready and waiting police officers greeted them.
"Director, we've just received a distress call. A resident in the Eastern Bridge District is trapped in their home by the Cat-faced Lady," reported one of the officers.
Wang Anshi's previously playful demeanor with Ye Cheng inside the interrogation room shifted to one of grave seriousness. "We depart immediately. The Cat-faced Lady must be apprehended tonight."
"Understood!" The officers responded in unison, swiftly boarding their police vehicles.
Ye Cheng and Wang Anshi shared a car as they set off into the night. The world of the supernatural had left the streets deserted, with not a soul in sight. A blanket of dark clouds shrouded the Eastern Bridge District, emanating an unsettling vibe.
Upon reaching their destination, Wang Anshi gestured decisively, directing the officers to encircle the building where the Cat-faced Lady was believed to be.
"Based on intelligence from the bureau, the Cat-faced Lady is a high-level supernatural entity. I urge everyone to stay alert; this operation is fraught with peril. A single misstep could be fatal," Wang Anshi reiterated through the walkie-talkie.
In this world, members of the Supernatural Bureau faced the greatest dangers. Each mission was a life-or-death encounter with the paranormal.
For this mission, Wang Anshi hoped to see Ye Cheng demonstrate his capabilities, ideally by subduing the Cat-faced Lady. At the very least, he should ensure the safety of the local residents.
"Comrades, tonight's objective is to apprehend a non-compliant feline – she's holed up in that building," Wang Anshi briefed.
"T300, the organization is counting on you to fulfill this mission," he said, turning to salute Ye Cheng.
Ye Cheng had been outfitted with the Supernatural Bureau's gear, considering his mental health condition. Should his performance falter, the equipment would at least safeguard his life.
With a solemn expression and a shaky, yet earnest salute, Ye Cheng responded, "Mission will be accomplished."
Dressed in dark blue slippers, he stepped out of the car at a leisurely pace. The grease stains on his lips had set, and his hair was disheveled, crowned by a sizable bruise on his forehead.
The black protective gear worn over his hospital gown stood out starkly.
"Foolish modern people, can't you even catch a wild cat? Such a trivial task, and yet you fail. It's disappointing. It seems we, as future warriors, must indeed take over the Earth."
Ye Cheng listened to the eerie, low-pitched meows emanating from the building ahead.
He glanced at the fully-armed officer next to him with clear disdain.
"Foolish modern people, can't even catch a cat."
With that, he walked in with an easy stride.
The police officers around him were left agape.
Bro, inside there's a high-level supernatural being, the Cat-faced Lady who's claimed dozens of lives!
Show a little respect, at least.
As Ye Cheng entered the building, a chill wind swept through.
Warning! Warning! The host is about to encounter an extremely dangerous supernatural entity. Please, host... never mind, let's just play it by ear. I'm exhausted.
The system seemed to transform into a tiny figure, drawing circles in Ye Cheng's mind.
Utterly withdrawn.
With so many protagonists in the world, why did it have to choose one with a mental disorder?
Ye Cheng pinched his nose and walked towards the source of the meowing.
The Cat-faced Lady was right there, in a corner at the end of the first floor, persistently tapping on a security door.
With Ye Cheng's approach, Wang Anshi and a contingent of officers followed stealthily behind.
If the Cat-faced Lady were to suddenly lash out, they were ready to intervene.
They had to save Ye Cheng.
He had promised Director Chen.
"Keep it down, don't alarm the Cat-faced Lady," Wang Anshi instructed, sweat beading on his forehead, his tone grave.
The officers behind him nodded in agreement.
At that moment, Ye Cheng had reached the corner of the corridor on the first floor.
He saw the Cat-faced Lady's back.
The meowing was coming from her.
"You people are really unfair. She's not a wild cat; she clearly has an owner," Ye Cheng said, turning back to look at Wang Anshi and the rest with dissatisfaction.
As he spoke, the knocking ceased.
In the next instant, the faces of Wang Anshi and his team turned ashen.
They were afraid to even breathe too loudly.
The Cat-faced Lady now stood behind Ye Cheng, her white hair and the wrinkles on her face compressing her features, her mouth jutting out, and her eyes filled with malice, fixed on Ye Cheng's neck.
Warning! Warning! A high-level paranormal entity, identified as the Cat-faced Lady, has been detected directly behind the host. The threat level is extremely high! Host, please refrain from turning around and immediately vacate the premises!
The system's alarm in his mind was on the verge of hysteria.
Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Ye Cheng turned around, puzzled.
He found himself face-to-face with the Cat-faced Lady.
Their eyes met—hers brimming with malice.
System: Damn it...
Ye Cheng's eyes gradually widened, as though he were under a spell.
The Cat-faced Lady, with a malicious grin, unsheathed her claws.
