C14 Get out of the Hospital Immediately

Upon hearing the doctor's words, Ann Xin's expression froze momentarily before she looked up at him, her voice filled with a desperate urgency. "Is there anything I can do to help? I'll do whatever it takes to prevent my mom from being discharged."

"Anything at all?" The young doctor put down the documents he was holding and stepped closer to Ann Xin.

"Ann Xin, your aunt has been hospitalized for a while now. You're well aware of how I've treated you during this time, so I'll be straightforward. Become my woman, and I'll handle your aunt's hospitalization."

Shock spread across Ann Xin's face at his suggestion. She was familiar with this doctor—Chen Junjie, the Deputy Chief Physician of the Nephrology Department. He had been a frequent visitor during the months her mother had been in the hospital.

Ann Xin genuinely appreciated his help, but she never expected him to make such a request.

"Dr. Chen, you're already married, and I have a boyfriend," Ann Xin said, biting her lip and struggling to meet Chen Junjie's eyes.

"Married?" Chen Junjie let out a derisive laugh. "I've had enough of that tyrant at home. I only married her because she's the daughter of the Deputy Director. But Ann Xin, my feelings for you are sincere. Trust me, if you're with me, I can give you everything except a formal title."

As he tried to take her hand, Ann Xin quickly stepped back, avoiding his touch. His words made her feel a deep sense of disgust and betrayal. She couldn't believe that this seemingly refined doctor could be such a person.

"Dr. Chen, I'm sorry, but I can't do what you're asking. I will find a way to pay for my mom's medical bills. Thank you," Ann Xin said, her tone resolute even as tears filled her eyes.

Chen Junjie's face turned cold at Ann Xin's rejection.

"Raise the money? With what? Your looks are the only thing you have of value. Your mother's surgery will cost at least 300,000 yuan. You couldn't raise that much even if you sold yourself. If you had any sense, you'd accept my offer. Otherwise, start the discharge process immediately."

"I don't believe that. I will find a way to get the money," Ann Xin asserted, wiping her tears and standing her ground defiantly.

"Fine, go ahead. But first, you need to move your mother out of the ward; we have new patients coming in," Chen Junjie said, his voice tight with frustration.

"New patients? How can that be? My mother's medical fees aren't due until tomorrow. It's already late today, and you're telling us to leave the hospital. What are we supposed to do?" Ann Xin pleaded, her voice tinged with desperation.

"That's not our concern. We're not a charity. Do you expect us to take care of everything?" Chen Junjie retorted coldly. "Move it. You're wasting time."

"On what grounds are you forcing us out today?"

"On what grounds? I'm the deputy director here, and it's hospital policy. If you can't pay the bill, you need to leave right now, today," Chen Junjie said, and without further ado, he grabbed Ann Xin's suitcase and started dragging it out of the room.

"No, you can't do this!" Ann Xin rushed to intervene, but with a casual shove from Chen Junjie, she stumbled and fell to the ground.

"Please, I'm begging you," she sobbed.

"Pleading won't help. Rules are rules. However, if you accept my offer now, there's still time," Chen Junjie said with a malicious smirk, no longer bothering to hide his true intentions.

"You can forget it. I'll never agree to your terms."

"Fine. If you want to play the martyr, be prepared to watch your mother suffer the consequences." With that, Chen Junjie called out to the nurses nearby, "Get over here and process the discharge for the patient in Room 207, immediately!"

At Chen Junjie's command, the nurses hurried over without question.

"No, you can't do this. Get away, get away!" Ann Xin was like a madwoman, blocking the ward door to prevent the nurses from entering.

"Security! We have a patient causing a disturbance. Come handle this immediately and remove the troublemaker," Chen Junjie bellowed. He was determined to coerce Ann Xin into submission.

For months, he had been eyeing Ann Xin, initially hoping to sweet-talk her into compliance. But since Ann Xin was oblivious to her own best interests, he had no qualms about resorting to more aggressive tactics.

Guu Tianxiong arranged for a car to take Ye Luo and Xie Quanzhang to the People's Hospital. Despite the late hour, the significance of Xie Quanzhang's visit meant that the hospital's director, Lee Wenqing, along with several senior staff members, were eagerly awaiting their arrival at a special entrance.

"Elder Xie, at last, you've arrived. Your presence truly honors our hospital," Director Lee Wenqing said, visibly excited as he warmly shook Xie Quanzhang's hand.

The director, usually a commanding presence, showed a level of respect to Xie Quanzhang that spoke volumes about the latter's prestigious standing in the medical field.

"Haha, we're all colleagues in the medical field, so let's skip the formalities. My apologies for arriving late; I was delayed by a patient issue, and I regret keeping everyone up," Xie Quanzhang replied graciously.

"Not at all, Elder Xie. Your commitment to your patients is admirable and sets a great example for us all. I've prepared a place for you to rest; please, allow me to escort you there," Lee Wenqing said.

Ye Luo mused on the perks of having power and status. For the average person, a hospital visit often involved begging for assistance, and the chance of meeting the director was slim to none.

"There's no need to hurry. I want to take a look at the lecture hall to familiarize myself with it for tomorrow's talk. That way, I can head straight there in the morning," Xie Quanzhang proposed.

"Absolutely, I'll accompany you, Elder Xie."

So, the group surrounded Xie Quanzhang and ushered him inside, while Ye Luo was largely ignored, assumed to be just another assistant.

As they passed through the lobby of the inpatient department, a sudden uproar pierced the night's calm—the sound of a woman crying out.

Director Lee Wenqing's face darkened immediately.

Such disturbances were not rare in the hospital, but with Xie Quanzhang present—a giant in the medical world—a negative impression could have significant repercussions.

"What's going on? Handle it immediately," Lee Wenqing commanded the office director at his side.

The office director sprang into action to resolve the issue.

"It's just a minor incident. Elder Xie, shall we continue?" someone said nonchalantly.

Yet Ye Luo's expression grew tense. His heightened senses, a product of his advanced cultivation, allowed him to hear the chaos with exceptional clarity, despite it coming from another floor. To his alarm, the cries he detected bore an uncanny resemblance to those of Ann Xin.

"Elder Xie, please go ahead with your tasks; I have something urgent to attend to," Ye Luo said, and without waiting for Xie Quanzhang's reaction, he quickly headed towards the source of the sound.

As Ye Luo left on his own, Lee Wenqing and the others frowned slightly, wondering if Elder Xie's assistant lacked a sense of propriety by walking away so suddenly.

However, since Xie Quanzhang didn't speak up, they didn't feel it was their place to say anything.

Watching Ye Luo's retreating figure, Xie Quanzhang was somewhat surprised. What could be so urgent as to make someone as calm as Ye Luo act with such haste?
