C16 You Stay with Me

Xie Quanzhang felt a cold shiver run through his body, as if he were in the sights of a venomous snake. The sensation of danger and fear struck him to the core. Even though he considered himself experienced in the ways of the world, he couldn't shake off a feeling of weakness.

"Mr. Ye, I don't wish to meddle, but I think it's important that we get to the bottom of this issue and clear things up for your friend. This chaos is just wasting time. If these people are guilty, we can punish them after we've investigated properly," Xie Quanzhang stammered.

Hmm?

Lee Wenqing and the others were surprised by Xie Quanzhang's respectful attitude toward Ye Luo.

Isn't he Xie Quanzhang's assistant? Why is Xie treating him with such respect, almost as if he's in awe of him?

Of course, he was in awe. Others might see Ye Luo as just an assistant, but Xie Quanzhang knew better. Not to mention Ye Luo's exceptional medical skills, the fact that he saved Guu Tianxiong's life alone ensured that Ye Luo could hit someone here, even Xie himself, and get away with it.

Seeing Ye Luo's indifferent reaction, Xie Quanzhang looked at the patient in the ward and suggested, "Mr. Ye, the patient doesn't seem to be doing well. Maybe we should attend to them first to prevent any deterioration of their condition."

At these words, Ann Xin, who was in Ye Luo's embrace, became frantic. She turned to see her mother collapsed on the hospital bed, still not recovered from her shock.

"Mom, are you alright?" Ann Xin rushed to her side.

Ye Luo's demeanor eased a bit as he addressed Xie Quanzhang, "Alright, I need an explanation. I want to know if it's true that the People's Hospital is forcing patients out today because their medical fees are due tomorrow. And I need to know if being the associate chief physician's lover exempts someone from paying those fees!"

Ye Luo's statement left everyone in the room in stunned silence, especially Chen Junjie, who was sprawled on the ground. His face turned ashen, and a cold dread settled in him. He knew his end was near.

"If you fail to provide a satisfactory explanation, I'll take matters into my own hands. I promise that each and every one of you, including you, Xie Quanzhang, will be confined to a wheelchair for your next life," Ye Luo declared, his eyes locked on Xie Quanzhang.

Xie Quanzhang, along with Dean Lee Wenqing and the rest, drew a sharp breath at the menacing words.

They all wondered about the identity of Ye Luo, who dared to address Xie Quanzhang with such audacity. It was an outright threat.

Even Dean Lee Wenqing, who was known to treat Xie Quanzhang with great deference, was taken aback.

The most surprising aspect was Xie Quanzhang's response, or lack thereof. He stood there, docile and submissive, as if he were merely an underling being chastised by Ye Luo.

"Rest assured, Mr. Ye. You will have a satisfactory explanation," Lee Wenqing responded promptly. Recognizing that anyone who could elicit such a response from Xie Quanzhang was far from ordinary, he knew he had to declare his stance or risk losing his opportunity.

It was evident that the conflict was a grudge between Ye Luo and Chen Junjie. Lee Wenqing was somewhat aware of the dubious activities Chen Junjie had been involved in, shielded by his father-in-law, the deputy dean. However, out of respect for Liu Mingxiang's reputation, he had previously refrained from getting involved.

Today, though, Lee Wenqing had reached a decision. The deputy dean's clout was considerable, but did it outweigh Xie Quanzhang's? Or his own career prospects, or even his life?

"Very well," Ye Luo replied, then moved closer to Chen Junjie. "I'll wait for your explanation. But for now, I'll take what I'm due." He then raised his leg.

"Bang!"

Chen Junjie let out a wretched scream as his groin bled, mixed with urine. Clearly, Ye Luo's kick had devastatingly crippled Chen Junjie's virility.

Lee Wenqing and his colleagues watched the scene unfold with a chill running down their spines. Despite Lee Wenqing's promise to explain the situation, he still refused to let Chen Junjie off the hook. With that kick, Chen Junjie's future was effectively ruined.

"Lee, what are you standing around for? Get to room 207 and check on the patient's condition," Xie Quanzhang urged, nudging Lee Wenqing's arm.

"Right, I'm on it..."

In just half an hour, the investigation was crystal clear. It wasn't just this one incident involving Ann Xin; there were numerous past issues tied to Chen Junjie, including those of Vice Principal Liu Mingxiang.

Unbeknownst to us before, but now shockingly clear, this father-in-law and son-in-law duo had been exploiting their positions to commit heinous acts. They were the epitome of despicable.

"Elder Xie, could you clue me in about this Ye Luo? I'm really on edge here," Lee Wenqing said, plastering a smile on his face as he stood next to Xie Quanzhang.

Xie Quanzhang could only offer a wry smile in return. He was just as eager to uncover Ye Luo's background. But did he have any leads?

"Here's the thing—I'll share just one detail," Xie Quanzhang began. "Are you familiar with Guu Tianxiong?"

Lee Wenqing nodded immediately. In Linhai City, anyone with even a modest reputation knew of Guu Tianxiong. Among the city's entrepreneurs, he was easily a top-five figure—a man whose influence could send tremors through Linhai with a mere foot stomp.

As the director of the People's Hospital, Lee Wenqing was no stranger to the upper echelons of society. Yet, even he paled in comparison to Guu Tianxiong, who had the power to decide his fate with a single word.

"Is Ye Luo associated with Guu Tianxiong?" Lee Wenqing asked, anxiety creeping into his voice. If so, that was someone he definitely couldn't afford to cross. Chen Junjie's family and Liu Mingxiang would have no choice but to concede.

Xie Quanzhang shook his head. "No, he's not one of Guu Tianxiong's people."

"Oh, that's somewhat of a relief," Lee Wenqing exhaled. If it was merely a casual acquaintance or a slight connection to Guu Tianxiong, that was somewhat less daunting.

"But just now, we both left Guu Tianxiong's place together. He's known as Old Gu, and it seemed like Guu Tianxiong was okay with that. Plus, right before I got here, he had just saved Guu Tianxiong's life. Guu Tianxiong had promised to help him with anything he needed. Oh, and Guu Tianxiong has a right-hand man, I think his name is Liu Kun. Ye Luo broke his hand, yet Guu Tianxiong didn't utter a single complaint."

"Thud, thud, thud," Lee Wenqing stumbled backward three steps, his heart, which had just settled, now racing in his chest, his face a mask of shock and fear.

If Ye Luo was one of Guu Tianxiong's people, that was already terrifying enough. But from what Xie Quanzhang implied, it was far more than just terrifying.

"Elder Xie, this whole affair was entirely Chen Junjie's personal action; I had no knowledge of it. We've been friends for years, and you're much closer to Mr. Ye. You must speak on my behalf. With your status as a grandmaster, Mr. Ye is bound to give you some face," Lee Wenqing was nearly in tears.

"Hehe," Xie Quanzhang chuckled bitterly. "Do you think I can change Mr. Ye's mind? As for being a grandmaster, let's just say that Ye Luo's medical skills are far superior to mine."

Lee Wenqing was stunned, speechless. The realization that Ye Luo was not only a powerful ally of Guu Tianxiong but also had medical expertise surpassing that of Xie Quanzhang was beyond his comprehension.
