C17 Call Liu Huayue

"So, by now, you should have a clear idea of what needs to be done. Forget about Chen Junjie and Liu Mingxiang. If they're destined for the worst, there's nothing we can do. Your priority is to ensure that the patient in room 207 stays at People's Hospital. Take good care of her, and you might just redeem yourself."

"Absolutely, I'm grateful for the reminder, Elder Xie. I'm on it," Lee Wenqing said, hurrying off to the ward.

Soon after, Ann Xin's mother was settled into the finest ward at People's Hospital. Lee Wenqing, taking the lead, brought in a team of specialists to examine her and develop a comprehensive treatment plan.

Ye Luo had considered transferring Ann Xin's mother to a different hospital, but on second thought, remaining at People's Hospital seemed best. Given the circumstances, with Lee Wenqing's personal involvement, she was sure to receive top-notch care. Besides, the medical standards at People's Hospital were quite reputable.

In his past life, Ye Luo had acquired some medical knowledge, relying mostly on medicinal pills or internal strength. He could handle cases of poisoning like Guu Tianxiong's, but when it came to Ann Xin's mother's uremia, he was at a loss for a quick solution.

By the time everything was in place, it was deep into the night. Ann Xin's mother had drifted off to sleep, and Ann Xin herself was nestled quietly in Ye Luo's embrace, still visibly shaken.

"Ye Luo, I can't thank you enough for today. Without you, I'd be at a complete loss," she said.

Ye Luo playfully tapped Ann Xin's nose and chuckled, "Haha, little lady, what's with the formalities? There's no need for that between us."

Caught off guard by the nose tap, Ann Xin's cheeks flushed with a sudden warmth.

"It's getting late. You should wash up and get some rest," Ye Luo suggested, noting the pallor that still lingered on her face from the day's frights.

"Ye Luo, I'm scared. Would you stay with me tonight?" Ann Xin asked timidly, her cheeks coloring with a shy blush.

Hearing Ann Xin's request, Ye Luo felt a twinge of surprise. Truth be told, he hadn't planned on leaving at all. After the scares Ann Xin had endured that day, he knew he needed to stay by her side.

Moreover, the luxurious ward Lee Wenqing had arranged was expansive, akin to a presidential suite, complete with a bedroom and bathroom—perfect for an overnight stay.

"Of course, I'm not going anywhere," Ye Luo said affectionately.

Ann Xin breathed a sigh of relief, then glanced down and realized she was somewhat disheveled. The tussle with the nurses and security had left her hair and clothes in disarray.

"I'm going to take a shower and change. You—you better not leave," Ann Xin said, her voice trembling like a spooked, delicate fawn, as she bit her lip and gazed at Ye Luo.

"Don't worry, my dear Ann Xin. I'm staying right here with you today. Even if you tried to send me away, I wouldn't go," Ye Luo said with a smile.

At the sound of Ye Luo calling her 'Ann Xin baby,' her cheeks flushed a deeper shade of red, adding a hint of allure to her face still damp with sweat and tears.

"Hehe, I wouldn't dream of sending you away," she replied, before darting into the bathroom.

Soon, the sound of water cascading filled the bathroom, and a shadowy figure could be seen through the frosted glass, twisting and turning amidst the steam.

"Wow, this glass really leaves little to the imagination," Ye Luo mused, glancing over and finding it hard to look away. The obscured view only fueled his imagination further.

He pictured the warm, pearl-like droplets joyfully landing on Ann Xin's creamy skin, then slowly trickling down—some over her shoulders, some along her arms...

Ye Luo suddenly found himself envying those droplets.

He let out a wistful sigh. Despite having lived two lives, he still couldn't remain composed. It was inappropriate, especially in a hospital, with Ann Xin's mother asleep just outside. Resolving to be more upright, he reluctantly tore his gaze from the bathroom glass.

But as his eyes shifted to the nearby sofa, they widened in surprise.

"There..." he murmured.

On the sofa lay an open suitcase, and inside, a light yellow, lace-trimmed bra rested quietly. Next to it, a matching pair of equally light yellow, lace-adorned panties—undeniably part of a set—were both cute and sensuous.

"What the hell..." Ye Luo could feel his hormones spiraling out of control, a mysterious energy coursing through his body, sending his temperature skyrocketing.

In his past life, after Ann Xin's death, Ye Luo's heart turned to ash. He lived for revenge, and though he later met several women of significance, he never became involved with any of them. After entering the world of martial cultivation, he dedicated himself to the Heartless Sword Dao, severing ties with the mundane world.

Put simply, despite a millennium of memories and experiences, Ye Luo was, in fact, a virgin through and through.

Thus, the sight of the sexy, adorable lingerie, combined with the sound of water droplets pattering against skin from the bathroom, was a considerable temptation for Ye Luo.

"Summoning the wisdom of Lu Xun," Ye Luo muttered, closing his eyes and exhaling deeply. The ancients had it right: "Lust is the greatest of sins."

"The ancients also said that to die under a peony is to be a romantic even in the afterlife," an impish voice in Ye Luo's head retorted.

"Pffft..." Ye Luo nearly choked on his own disbelief.

Thankfully, he regained his composure, closing his eyes to practice the Nine Heavens Reincarnation Technique.

"Ye Luo, Ye Luo..." Just as he found his equilibrium, Ye Luo faintly heard Ann Xin's voice.

He turned to see the bathroom door ajar, Ann Xin's eyes peeking through the gap, bashful yet curious.

"What's up?"

"I, I forgot to bring a change of underwear. Could you... could you fetch it for me? It's in my suitcase," Ann Xin's voice was barely a whisper, her nervousness evident.

"What?" Ye Luo was jolted, his hard-won calmness threatening to unravel.

"Is something wrong? You don't want to help?" Ann Xin's eyes fluttered, her voice tinged with vulnerability.

"No, of course not. Is it the pale yellow set with the lace trim?" Ye Luo rose to his feet, asking nonchalantly.

"Ah, right, how did you know?" Ann Xin asked, puzzled, her cheeks flushing a deeper shade of red, as if she could almost squeeze out a blush. "Did you sneak a peek?"

"No, I didn't," Ye Luo insisted, wiping the sweat from his forehead. "You left it out yourself, and I just happened to see it. Do you believe me?"

"Hehe, sure, I believe you," Ann Xin said with a mischievous smile, though her eyes clearly expressed her skepticism.

Biting his lip, Ye Luo picked up the lingerie and walked over to the bathroom door.

Ann Xin's face was a picture of embarrassment, her wet hair in disarray and clinging to her cheeks, the tips glistening with droplets like shimmering waves. It was almost too much to handle.

Taking a deep breath, Ye Luo handed over the underwear, silently branding her a "little temptress" in his mind.

Accepting the lingerie, Ann Xin slightly parted her lips and bit her lower lip, saying, "Even if you did sneak a peek, I wouldn't mind."

Before Ye Luo could respond, the bathroom door closed.

"What? I... It was you who left it out, I just saw it by accident!"

Minutes later, the door swung open again, revealing Ann Xin with her hair down, draped in a snow-white nightgown that barely concealed the pale yellow lingerie beneath.

Lately, Ann Xin had been run ragged, attending school by day and caring for her mother in the hospital at night, all while fretting over medical bills. She hadn't had a proper meal or a relaxing bath in months.

Today, with Ye Luo by her side, she felt an unprecedented sense of security, which allowed her to finally bathe and change with peace of mind.

Watching Ann Xin, Ye Luo couldn't help but smile wryly, thinking that if they weren't in a hospital, he might not have been able to contain himself.

"Do I look good?" Ann Xin asked, tilting her head and giving Ye Luo a glance.

"Ah? Yes, beautiful, very beautiful," Ye Luo replied, his voice tinged with embarrassment.

"Is it me that's beautiful, or is it the lingerie?"
