C20 Young Master Ye
"Alright!" Hsu Danian didn't hesitate. Even though he was aware of Liu Qi's powerful family background, being bullied to this extent was more than he could tolerate. If he didn't stand up for himself now, he'd be a complete pushover.
"Hsu Danian, do you have any idea who Liu Qi is? If you dare touch him, you're going to regret it," Wang Ping angrily declared. She had managed to swallow the humiliation when Hsu Danian reprimanded her yesterday, but today was supposed to be different. She had brought Liu Qi with her, hoping to trample Hsu Danian like a stray dog, yet she was facing the same defeat. How could she possibly bear it?
With a sharp "Slap!" Hsu Danian turned and, without a second thought, slapped Wang Ping across the face. "You wretch, I've tolerated you for far too long. Did you really think that because I once had feelings for you, you could do whatever you pleased? Fool."
"You... you dare hit me? I'm going to fight you!" Wang Ping screamed, her claws outstretched, ready to scratch Hsu Danian.
"Thud!" Hsu Danian's leg shot out, sending Wang Ping flying with a powerful kick.
"I don't like hitting women, but that doesn't mean you can behave outrageously in front of me without repercussions. Remember, it was me who broke up with you, you're nothing!" Hsu Danian said, then turned to Ye Luo and landed a firm kick to Liu Qi's head.
"You fat jerk, you dare hit me? I'll—"
"Thud!" Another kick silenced Liu Qi, leaving him with a mouthful of blood. "Say one more word, and I'll kick you to death."
Liu Qi was struck with terror and didn't dare to speak again.
Ye Luo observed Hsu Danian with a slight smile. The man had proven himself to be courageous and resolute. With this assurance, Ye Luo felt confident in teaching him the cultivation technique.
"Quick, move aside, the principal is coming!"
"Make way!"
A group of people rushed towards them. At the forefront was Principal Lee Wenqing, accompanied by the head teachers of the high-ranking classes and several other faculty members.
The arrival of the principal and the teachers was to be expected, but what caught everyone off guard was the middle-aged man with a furrowed brow who was walking with the principal.
"Who's that guy? He looks so familiar," a student remarked.
"Yeah, he does seem familiar. Oh, I remember now! He's the school director, Zhu Jian's father, Director Zhu Chengrong," someone exclaimed, suddenly animated.
"Oh my God, really? It's Director Zhu himself? What's he doing here?"
Many Linhai University students knew Zhu Chengrong well; he was the true power behind their school.
"You're out of the loop? Ye Luo, that high-profile student, beat up Zhu Jian yesterday. I heard he didn't hold back, might've even broken his leg. Do you think Director Zhu would just let that slide? He's definitely here to cause a stir."
"How do you know all this?"
"I saw it with my own eyes right at the school gate last night. I thought Ye Luo would be locked up and wouldn't get out, but here he is, free as a bird. Now that Director Zhu is here in person, I bet Ye Luo's toast."
"Well, he's got no one to blame but himself. Of all people to mess with, he had to go after Zhu Jian. And today, he even went after Liu Qi. I think Ye Luo is either tired of living or has lost his mind."
At that moment, students from various classes and grades flocked to the high-profile teaching building, all eager to witness the fate of the reckless individual who dared to strike Zhu Jian and Liu Qi.
Many looked at Ye Luo with pity, knowing that trouble was brewing for him.
When Wang Ping saw the principal and Zhu Chengrong arrive, her previous humiliation and fear disappeared, replaced by a surge of excitement and triumph, for she knew her moment for revenge had come.
"Principal, Director, you've finally arrived. Ye Luo and Hsu Danian have gone mad, attacking people indiscriminately, completely lawless. You must arrest them," Wang Ping pleaded, rushing to confront Lee Wenqing and the others.
Lee Wenqing and his group looked at Wang Ping with grim expressions and remained silent. No one could guess what they were thinking.
Wang Ping had just finished speaking when Lee Wenqing, Zhu Chengrong, and the others showed no reaction, simply standing there with complex expressions as they watched Ye Luo. At that moment, Ye Luo's foot was still planted on Liu Qi's face. The appearance of Chen Chaohui and Zhu Chengrong, especially Zhu Chengrong, was somewhat unexpected. Considering his son Zhu Jian had his leg broken by Ye Luo the previous day, it was surprising that Zhu Chengrong hadn't sought immediate retribution. His restraint until now was notable.
"Principal, board director, what are you waiting for? Call someone to arrest him, I..." Wang Ping continued.
"Silence!" Lee Wenqing interrupted her sharply.
"Huh?"
The scene left the onlookers puzzled. Ye Luo was the one who had been fighting, so why was Wang Ping the one being scolded by the principal?
"Principal, board director..."
Wang Ping tried to speak again, but Zhu Chengrong swiftly raised his hand and slapped her across the face, stunning her.
Zhu Chengrong ignored Wang Ping and the others' reactions as he walked up to Ye Luo, gritted his teeth, and bowed deeply.
"Young Master Ye, I am Zhu Jian's father, Zhu Chengrong. My son was at fault yesterday, and I apologize on his behalf. If there's any compensation you need, please let me know."
What?
Everyone was shocked.
Did they hear that right? Zhu Chengrong was apologizing to Ye Luo? And he called him Young Master Ye?
What was going on? Wasn't Ye Luo an orphan and a notorious good-for-nothing?
Zhu Chengrong, a school director and a prominent businessman, was apologizing instead of seeking revenge for his son's broken leg? He wasn't leading a group to tear Ye Luo apart; instead, he was personally offering an apology and compensation?
Everyone was bewildered, not just the bystanders, but even Ye Luo himself was taken aback.
Despite the many judgmental eyes that stripped him of dignity and filled him with embarrassment, Zhu Chengrong stood firm. He had no choice. The humiliation he faced paled in comparison to the well-being and future of the Zhu family's enterprise.
Zhu Chengrong stood there, his face flushed with embarrassment as countless eyes bore into him, stripping him of all dignity. Yet, he endured it. There was no other choice; the humiliation he felt paled in comparison to the future and fortunes of the entire Zhu family.
To be honest, when he learned last night that his son's legs had been broken, his rage was uncontrollable. He immediately called the relevant people, determined to have Ye Luo thrown into jail. He even considered taking revenge himself by crippling Ye Luo in return.
But before he could even step out the door, he received a call from Iron Fist Liu Kun, one of Guu Tianxiong's henchmen. Liu Kun informed him that Ye Luo was under Guu Tianxiong's protection and advised him to hold his tongue.
The Zhu family's business was substantial, but it paled in comparison to the Gu family's empire. With Guu Tianxiong's influence, a single word could ruin Zhu Chengrong financially and tarnish his reputation.
So, he bit the bullet. He dropped the charges against Ye Luo, compelled Zhu Jian to confess his wrongdoing, and even produced a video of the confession.
Despite acquiescing to save face for Guu Tianxiong, Zhu Chengrong couldn't shake off the feeling of resentment. Deep down, he harbored thoughts of retaliation when the opportunity arose.
However, just when Zhu Chengrong believed the incident was behind him, he never anticipated that Guu Tianxiong would show up at his doorstep in person.
