C12 He Can!

Before a crowd of onlookers, Chu Yun snapped the leg of an elite man.

The guests at the venue let out a chorus of screams and scattered in all directions.

The elite man collapsed, unable to rise, his gentlemanly composure shattered as he clutched his leg and wailed in agony.

Lin Shuang was taken aback that Su Xiaoxiao's seemingly ineffectual brother-in-law would dare to assault her wealthy uncle. Wasn't he considered a nobody? How did he have the audacity to attack her uncle, a man worth over a hundred million?

This couldn't be overlooked!

But before Lin Shuang could react, Chu Yun had already pulled out his phone and dialed the police. "I'm turning myself in. I've broken someone's leg. The location is the KFC near Pearl University."

After ending the call, Chu Yun settled back into his seat without sparing the elite man another glance.

His look towards Lin Shuang was equally icy and detached.

He could tolerate the students, the nation's blossoms, to an extent.

Yet now, this prestigious university student harbored intentions more malicious than those of a streetwise youth.

"Stay away," Chu Yun muttered as he lit a cigarette, his eyes dark and brooding. "If you see Xiaoxiao again, make sure to take a wide berth. Otherwise, I'll break your legs too."

His demeanor was ruthless, wild, and aggressive, far from what one would expect of a man raised in peaceful times.

Lin Shuang was utterly confounded by Chu Yun.

Breaking his uncle's leg and then calling the police?

What was going through this man's mind? Was he so reckless because he had nothing to lose, willing to go down with his uncle?

Due to the proximity to the university district, the police response was swift. In under five minutes, a team of heavily armed officers stormed the second floor and subdued Chu Yun. The elite man was rushed to the hospital for emergency care.

Su Xiaoxiao and the others were taken to the police station for further questioning.

Chu Yun cooperated fully, but Su Xiaoxiao's gaze was filled with trepidation.

Just last night, after the confrontation with Han Jin, she felt a surge of pride in her once-dismissed brother-in-law. But after tonight's events, she couldn't shake the feeling that Chu Yun had a violent streak and potentially a destructive nature.

He broke someone's leg over a mere disagreement. Is he a devil, a beast?

With a clang, Chu Yun was escorted into an interrogation room that was brimming with cold air. The high-wattage lights were blindingly bright. Despite the sweltering summer heat outside, the room's temperature was barely above 10 degrees Celsius. The furniture was so cold it could chill you to the bone; most people would feel their extremities go numb in less than ten minutes.

Yet, Chu Yun had been left in the interrogation room for a full thirty minutes before anyone entered.

The door opened to reveal a male and female police officer. The male officer exuded a sense of calm and appeared seasoned. Upon entering, he gave Chu Yun a brief glance before taking a seat with composure. Internally, he was mildly taken aback; after half an hour in the frigid room, Chu Yun hadn't so much as flinched.

Impressive physical condition. It's no wonder he could snap the leg off a KFC chair with a single kick.

The female officer, meanwhile, meticulously reviewed the case file she had brought with her. After about a minute, she spoke without raising her eyes, "The hospital has sent their report. Lin Feng's knee is shattered. Even if it heals, he'll have a permanent limp."

"Oh," Chu Yun responded, his mind elsewhere, unsurprised by the news.

He hadn't left Lin Feng crippled or dependent on crutches for life, not out of fear, but to spare Su Xiaoxiao any undue distress.

The female officer slammed the file onto the table, her gaze icy, "Do you have any idea how long you could be imprisoned for intentionally causing such an injury?"

"Three to ten years," Chu Yun replied nonchalantly.

"You're clearly not ignorant of the law," the female officer retorted sternly. Then, with a shift in her tone to something more detached, she demanded, "Explain yourself. Why did you assault him?"

Before entering the room, Tan Lili had already interrogated the two female college students. Their accounts varied slightly but were generally consistent. There wasn't even a verbal altercation before he struck, and when he did, it was with lethal intent.

This kid's heart is truly malicious.

"He's trying to charm my sister-in-law," Chu Yun stated flatly. "To put it bluntly, he's attempting to deceive her into sleeping with him."

Upon hearing this, Tan Lili couldn't help but furrow her brow. "As far as I'm aware, this is your first encounter with him."

"Yes," confirmed Chu Yun with a nod.

"So, on what basis do you make such an accusation?" Tan Lili pressed.

"Intuition," Chu Yun replied succinctly.

"You broke his leg just on a hunch?" Tan Lili was astounded.

"She's my sister-in-law, my wife's own sister," Chu Yun explained, his gaze turning icy. "Do you see a problem with that?"

"There's a huge problem!" Tan Lili admonished. "It seems to me that you were insulted, became enraged, and lashed out in a fit of anger. Is that not the case?"

"If that narrative fits better with your interrogation logic," Chu Yun said, his lips tightening. "Then I'll concede to your interpretation. My actions were driven by rage and humiliation."

Thump, thump.

The older male police officer tapped on the desk, signaling the end of the challenging interrogation.

He recognized that Chu Yun was dictating the pace, relegating Tan Lili to a secondary role, devoid of initiative.

"Mr. Chu, please take a break. I expect your responses in the next round of questioning to be well-considered. Arguing with us isn't going to help your case," the officer said as he stood up, ready to leave.

"Could you ask your colleague to return my cigarettes?" Chu Yun requested calmly.

Upon entering the station, all his possessions, including his cigarettes, had been seized.

The officer hesitated, knowing he couldn't return the cigarettes as it would be against protocol.

He reached into his pocket, pulled out a fresh pack of cigarettes, and placed it on the cold table. "Here's a personal gift from me."

"A cup of coffee to go with it would be perfect," Chu Yun said, lighting up with a look of contentment. "I'll be more cooperative with the questioning later."

"Very well, Mr. Chu. Please wait here."

The officer departed, taking the clearly disgruntled Tan Lili with him.

"Old Zuo, what's your angle?" Tan Lili demanded in the hallway outside the interrogation room. "His motive is clear, and he's caused serious injury. Why the courtesy?"

Old Zuo, a seasoned criminal investigator, glanced at Tan Lili, his quasi-apprentice, and said, "While you were questioning the female student, I checked Chu Yun's background on the intranet."

"Huh?" Tan Lili's brow furrowed as she inquired, "What did you find?"

Was Chu Yun a habitual criminal involved in a cold case?

"Practically a blank slate," Old Zuo muttered, instinctively reaching for a cigarette he didn't have. "The intranet only has records from the past six months. He's married, to Su Mingyue, who entered the scene about half a year ago. The day after their wedding, he vanished without a trace. All the intranet has is a trail of his travels across the country, but no one knows what he was actually doing."

"Why would he run off right after getting married?" Women always seem to have a weakness for juicy gossip.

"At the time, the Su family business was on the brink of bankruptcy, nearly facing legal action," Old Zuo stated neutrally.

"Jerk!" Tan Lili exclaimed with disdain. "Clearly, he didn't want to deal with the Su family's debts."

Old Zuo neither confirmed nor denied her statement, then added, "The most crucial point is that his place of origin and family members are untraceable on the intranet. Yet, the ID found on him isn't a forgery."

Tan Lili, as a law enforcer, had a sharp instinct for these matters. She expressed her astonishment, "If the ID isn't fake, then that means—"

"Exactly."

Returning to his office, Old Zuo sparked up a cigarette and took a couple of deep drags. "We can almost certainly conclude that we're not authorized to investigate him. If he's indeed part of a secret agency, we'll have to release him immediately."

"But even if he's with a secret agency, does that give him the right to harm people maliciously?" Tan Lili challenged.

"If that's the case," Old Zuo inhaled sharply, a glint of awe in his eyes, "Yes, he can."
