C4 A Deal!

Sounds of metal clashing echoed from the kitchen, likely Su Mingyue and her sister preparing breakfast.

Chu Yun found himself reluctantly engaging in conversation.

"Auntie, your words leave me feeling quite embarrassed," Chu Yun responded with a pleasant tone.

"Embarrassed, that's all?" Chen Xiuling said with surprise. "If I were in your shoes, I'd have buried myself in a hole out of sheer mortification."

"Only rats burrow into holes," Chu Yun retorted sharply. "As a man, I still have my pride."

Chen Xiuling's anger flared instantly. Her eyes widened as she exclaimed, "You talk of pride? Where have you been these past six months? Did you lift a finger to help when the Su family was in trouble? And now, just as they've weathered the storm, you return to leech off them?"

Chu Yun was inwardly frustrated. He had been shamed by his sister-in-law the previous night, and now he faced humiliation once more.

Chen Xiuling was relentless, her scolding growing more intense, her voice reaching the two sisters in the kitchen.

"That's enough," Dung Yuhua interjected with a slight frown, setting down her teacup.

At her intervention, Chen Xiuling fell silent.

Dung Yuhua, once at the helm of the Su family enterprise, still wielded considerable influence.

She had been the first to object to Su Mingyue's marriage, nearly causing its cancellation with her firm stance.

"Now that you've returned," Dung Yuhua said coolly, glancing at Chu Yun, "you should divorce Su Mingyue."

She produced a document from her bag, adding, "Sign this, and your ties with the Su family will be severed."

Her decisive action took everyone aback, including Chu Yun and his father-in-law, Su Zhennan.

She had the divorce papers ready, a testament to her no-nonsense, decisive nature.

Chu Yun, momentarily taken aback, ventured, "Mom, may I take a look at the agreement?"

Dung Yuhua gave a slight nod, "It was prepared with you in mind, after all."

A deep look crossed her eyes.

She had anticipated that Chu Yun, being a man, might react with rage to the embarrassment and rip up the divorce papers. Hence, she kept a photocopy in her bag.

She was a successful entrepreneur, while Chu Yun was considered worthless. She was certain she could break down Chu Yun's mental defenses and compel him to sign the divorce papers.

"What about the divorce settlement?" Chu Yun asked, furrowing his brow after reviewing the divorce agreement.

"You're repulsive!" Chen Xiuling snapped back with a scornful laugh. "What have you ever contributed to the Su family? You think you're entitled to their wealth?"

Chu Yun ignored Chen Xiuling's vitriol, turning to Dung Yuhua with a serene demeanor. "Mom, I may not be well-educated, but I understand marital law. Since we're discussing a consensual divorce, we should negotiate terms that satisfy both parties, shouldn't we?"

Dung Yuhua had anticipated Chu Yun's obstinance. Keeping her irritation in check, she nodded. "Name your price."

No sooner had Dung Yuhua spoken than Chu Yun called out to the kitchen, "Wife, could you come out for a moment?"

Everyone was taken aback.

Su Mingyue emerged.

She had been the picture of a princess at last night's banquet. Now, she was breathtakingly beautiful.

"What's the matter?" Su Mingyue inquired coolly.

"Your mother wants us to get a divorce," Chu Yun stated bluntly, exaggerating slightly, "She even told me to name my price, which I find quite disrespectful to you."

Dung Yuhua's brow furrowed deeply, her indignation palpable.

Unfazed, Su Mingyue maintained her composure and her tone remained icy, "Then name a price that satisfies you."

"How could I?" Chu Yun declared emphatically. "Love is priceless; it cannot be measured in monetary terms."

"Do you even have the right to speak of love?" Chen Xiuling seized the moment to interject. "Chu Yun, be sensible. The divorce is non-negotiable."

The Su family had exerted every possible pressure and temptation to dissolve the marriage.

Chu Yun didn't appear to resist for long. He sighed and said, "Alright, I'll name my price."

He paused, looking at Su Mingyue with deep affection, and continued, "My wife is stunning, with a great figure, an exceptional demeanor, a high level of education, and impeccable poise. She's also a rising star in the entertainment industry. It would be a disservice to her if the sum I suggest were too modest."

Chu Yun clenched his jaw, the pain evident in his expression. "One hundred million. That's my final offer."

Before he could finish, Dung Yuhua was shaking with uncontrollable rage. "Have you lost your mind?" she demanded.

One hundred million? Even if the Su family hadn't gone bankrupt, Dung Yuhua couldn't just come up with one hundred million in cash.

"This is a divorce settlement!" Chen Xiuling interjected with a sneer. "Not a one-sided sale of your wife!"

Chu Yun shot Chen Xiuling a look and pressed his lips together. "I'm discussing business with my mother-in-law. Outsiders should keep their comments to themselves."

Chen Xiuling was seething with anger.

But before Chen Xiuling could erupt, Chu Yun turned to Dung Yuhua with a calm gaze. "Mom, there's something I'm not sure whether I should say."

In the kitchen, Su Xiaoxiao shuddered. She had been tricked by Chu Yun the night before. Now, what was her drastically changed brother-in-law planning to do in the face of her domineering mother?

"Speak your mind," Dung Yuhua commanded, her voice icy and her gaze piercing.

"If you can't afford to 'sell' your daughter, then don't set a price."

Silence engulfed the living room.

The Su family wanted Chu Yun and Su Mingyue to divorce, hoping to leverage Su Mingyue's connections with the powerful to gain greater benefits. That was their plan.

They accused Chu Yun of selling his wife, but in reality, it was Dung Yuhua who was truly selling her daughter. She might claim it was for her daughter's happiness, but ultimately, she was just satisfying her own selfish desires.

"Bastard!" No matter how composed Dung Yuhua usually was, she was now thoroughly infuriated by Chu Yun. "Get out!" she snapped.

Chu Yun nonchalantly shrugged his shoulders. Turning to Su Mingyue, he asked, "Wife, is breakfast ready? I'm starving."

Throughout the entire ordeal, Su Mingyue remained detached, her expression indifferent from start to finish.

"No."

She turned and walked back to the kitchen without offering any comment on the matter, her composure almost eerie in its depth.

The Su family was seething with anger, practically itching to tear Chu Yun limb from limb.

The ringtone from Chen Xiuling's purse pierced the heavy silence.

She answered the call brusquely. Within seconds, her expression soured and she began to shake uncontrollably.

"What's wrong?" Dong Yuhua asked, her brow furrowed.

With a face shadowed by fear, Chen Xiuling's voice trembled as she disclosed, "Last night, Mingyue dined with the young master of the Han Group, and somehow, he ended up severely injured and is now under observation in the ICU."

Chen Xiuling swallowed hard, her forehead beaded with sweat, as she added, "The Han family is out for revenge."
